Malaysia Station / Nan Yang Express 南洋茶室 - Balwyn North reviews
50This place is our canteen. We come here at least once a week. We love the $10 malaysian food, especially white curry mee and kolo mee. The service is very good. All must come to try it and support the generosity of the boss when all chinese restaurants have raised their food price, but this place still.today we tried their deep fried fish crackle snack (ikan lekor) for the first time and its surprisingly good.
I recently visited a fantastic eatery that reminded me of a hawker style shop.lunch offers a range of options starting from just $10, making it an excellent value for money. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was impressed by the great taste of every dish I tried. The self-service setup added to the overall experience, making it convenient and hassle-free. I highly recommend for a satisfying and affordable meal.
Visited here after seeing recommendation from a Facebook group for Malaysian food. Once again another disappointment recommended by that Facebook group.
Though the lunch specials must be one of the cheapest you can get nowadays, the food is just very average.
The $10 meals are a great deal, however quite small in size and quite slim on ingredients. It is a very casual restaurant, order at the counter and self serve utensils and water. Staff were friendly. Probably more of a lunch or takeaway than a full sit-down dinner. We dined at 6pm on a weekday and it got full quickly so arrive early.
Kolo mee was superb! Great texture. Soup rice noodle also nothing short of excellent! We will definitely come again!
Their Hainanese Chicken Rice for $10 is an absolute steal! Staff were very friendly and food came out very quick! Will be definitely coming here again!
Great tasting chee cheong fun. Just delicious. I've enjoyed each of these meals here and most at $10. Taste better if dine in than take away, I must say.
Rightly reminded by the owner these$10 meals apply all day including dinners.
Recommend this to anyone!
Honest food and very decent pricing. Ordered Fish noodles and surprised by generous crispy fish fillets. Kids enjoyed Kolo mee too.
Great authentic food. Repeat customers. Also cheap. But don't tell management, they might put the prices up.
One of the best Malaysian restos we have tried so far! Amazing service too:) Gotta bring the family and friends here. Food was amazing.
Great, tasty, authentic Malaysian food!
Had the nasi goreng, homemade tofu and stir fried okra.
Can't wait to go back and try other dishes!
Amazing authentic food and great prices. Had the lobster noodles, yam basket, silken tofu, and curry fish with my family. Great service from the boss David as well! If you're looking for authentic malaysian food, definitely give this place a go!
I ordered fried fish. It was very small and the price was $38, but I calculated an additional $1.44. Only $38.00 was calculated on the receipt you gave me, but when I looked at the bank account, $39.44 was withdrawn. It was like a scam. I've been in a bad mood since the new year, and I feel like I've been robbed of $1.44, and I haven't heard anything. I'm not going back. The boss of this is a fraud.
Respectful staff
Tidy place.
Generous portion and Good quality
But our food had basically no taste! Even one of our fish was supposed to be spicy, but was flavourless.
Worth to try though.
Being here for a couple of times in the last 3 weeks, enjoyed the fish head noodles- the fish head was generous in size and super crispy and tasty, the best ever tasted in Melbourne and the promotion at $12 was a big deal! And take away the other promotion of $10 chicken rice equally good and worth it. And many items are good too!
Their Char kuey teow and salted egg prawn are very delicious, is recommend to go with a big group of ppl or family.
Absolutely the worst evening out at what we thought was a good restaurant to take our grandkids to. Been here a few times but totally deserve the worst review after tonight’s events. Blatant racism if ever I have been unfortunate to experience.
If you are of Asian descent you will not have a problem. Get my meaning people
Authentic Malaysian food, delicious and good. Visited here many times, never go wrong. Highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed having dinner here; portions were great and the food tasted on point. Very courteous staff and easy parking too. Thank you, we’ll be back!
Ordered 3 dishes for lunch roti with beef randang char kwei tow and pork ribs king. Food was ok except the beef randang which seemed to have not been heated up correctly. The 4pcs of beef was stone cold and tough and the sauce was luke warm. To me it seemed like they had microwaved the beef randang and forgot to stir it to distrbute the heat through the dish. Which is what let the dish down because otherwise it tasted very nice, the roti was amazing. The other dishes were good and decent size.
