MacKenzie Falls reviews
51 The new planning in 2024 is very complete and safe, and the steps have protective iron bars. The round trip takes about 1 hour. Highly recommended
Amazing view and nature environment. Return roughly 1 return, very relaxing attractions and definitely come again and again.
Picturesque, not going to lie its a hell of a climb, the view is worth it but be prepared to climb all the way back, take plenty of water. Rest often on the return trip, enjoy the views
Awesome water fall. Always water flowing. Approx 300 steps to the bottom of the falls, but we'll worth the effort.
If unable to manage the steps there is a gentle walk along flat paved trail to viewing platform.
Pretty little waterfall.nothing too spectacular, but the water spray put up a nice rainbow for us.the overhanging sandstone cliffs were stunning and formidable.came as a tour so the stairs were pretty clustered at one point in time at the bottom of the mackenzie falls.stairs are pretty high on the way up/down too, so not for those with knee problems.
Stunning bush scenery with toilet facilities at the carpark. The lookout is easy to walk to, but the walk to and from the base of the falls requires a good fitness level.
Beautiful place, be prepared to use the stairs a lot because there are many and very steep.
If you are in Ararat or the Grampians then a visit to Mackensie falls and a walk to the bottom is a must - awesome!
520 steps return. Afternoon time to get the rainbow effect on the waterfall if its sunny. Don't forget to stretch out after
Pretty place to visit with good amenities. The walk back is difficult, especially in the heat, so take your time & do it at your own pace.
It's a long way down and seems much longer on the way back. It is always crowded on weekends so be ready to share. The falls are lovely. Treat yourself to a longer walk along the river from Zumsteins. Avoid the crowds and get 2 more falls, and avoid 200+ stairs, as a bonus.
Such a beautiful waterfall!
Was a relatively quick and easy walk down the stairs to the base of the waterfall. We went around 3pm and it wasn’t overly crowded with people. Plenty of room to relax next to the rocks and take in the nice spray of water.
The walk back up is pretty tiring due to very steep stairs, but overall it is well worth it. Bring a water bottle, a hat and some sunscreen.
One of my favourite waterfalls so far. The walk isn't too long but will be little hard with carrying kids under 2yrs. Strollers won't go after a certain distant when steps start. Make sure you take your time sit opposite the Falls and enjoy the view and sound. Also dipping your feet on the cold running stream is quite soothing.

Wonderful walk with the family, took a cut lunch and water bottles and made a day of it. Very well made and maintained access. Once again I congratulate and thank Parks Victoria for their work making the outdoors safely accessible to us.
This is an awesome waterfall. It is a must not miss. Be prepared though it is a big climb down and a huge climb back up. Pace yourself take water and light clothing or layers. Don't miss it.
This was a difficult walk to the waterfalls especially back up if you go right down, but its worth it. Take water to drink and there is plenty of spots to stop and have a rest. There is a sign letting you know there are I think 266 steep steps
MacKenzie Falls is brilliant! No Grampians trip should be complete without it. The stairs from the carpark down to the falls may be a bit strenuous for some, but would still highly recommend seeing!
520 steps return. Afternoon time to get the rainbow effect on the waterfall if its sunny. Don't forget to stretch out after
Gorgeous waterfall to trek down to. Not suitable for people with low stamina as the hike back up to the car park is steep & very strenuous. I saw a couple of elderly people struggling to get back up from the base & I felt bad for them.
Would only recommend if you are fit & able.
There’s also lack of reception in the area & no reception at all at the base of the waterfall.
There’s no drinking water fountains all along the track or in the area. Ensure you bring enough drinking water to avoid heat exhaustion.
Very busy. Take a number and line up for a good vantage spot.
Walked a bit downstream to escape the crowd for a moment. Nice views and fresh all along.
