Mabrown reviews
52Terrible service. There was only 1 waiter working the entire night and I waited over an hour to get our food. Some dishes weren't even hot when we got them and was below average.
Lady looks rude but after a few jokes she is very funny and nice. Not special about the spicy quail. Overall the food is nice
Pre-order the spicy quails, XO prawn with shells with extra noodles, and a Yong Tofu.
Seems like the spicy quail is the signature dishes of the restaurant. Food are tasty (I like the Tofu the most), but overall is quite salty and I feel super thirty afterwards.
Busy restaurant so do not except too much from the staff.
Went there to celebrate CNY with my friends. Foods in general were great, the spicy quail was *chefs kiss*. The place was quite accomodating and the service was not the best but also not the worst, I didn't really mind it. Price was a bit on the expensive side but still reasonable if that makes sense.p. S.remember to bring cash when eating here, the surcharge for debit/credit card is very high.
No nonsense, delicious malaysian (?) cantonese food.
The specialty quail dish as rated by others in my party was apparently "no competition" and "top choice for a final meal before execution or Dan Andrew's lockdown". Quail aside, all other dishes were executed at a level expected of a very good chinese/cantonese restaurant.
Venue itself is humble and somewhat quaint. One of the lady managers there seems intimidating, but she means well and is quite ontop of things. Don't be scared of her.
Best quails in town! Just call them a day before and place your order. The food is ready when you get there and it is brought to you straight away.
If you are after service, this is not the place to be at, but then again, it is a restaurant where the product is food.
If you want customer service, go elsewhere.
Amazing quail, gado gado and banana fritters!
Hipaman prawn is not as spicy as I thought but was still delicious
Came here for the quail, omg it did not disappoint.
Also tried the garlic vegetables and the fried barramundi - also very enjoyable!
Place doesn't look like much but the service was friendly and the food worth it.
We'll definitely be back!
The yummiest quails you can find in Melbourne! The sweet and sour whole barramundi and kangkong belachan also too good.a great freedom relief after the lockdown.
We’re helping all local restaurants in these difficult COVID times and Mabrown was a pleasant surprise. Not very attractive to dine in but food was excellent.
The best quail in town, you have to try this if you come to melbourne.but make sure you call first to book, especially to book how many quail you are going to have.
Drop by for late dinner this evening. Oedered Quail which is their specialty, must say it is so delicious. Wok hei Singapore noodles (Mee Hoon) shows the skill of the chef cooking, we also ordered the French long beans ala chilli hmmm.ho ho sek. Gado Gado is a bit of a surprise otherwise all is Good.
Came here for the food, was ready for the bad service. Turns out the food were terrible and the service even worse than what we expected.
Old school Chinese food out of Melbourne Town. Owner is very friend and talkative. Tends to be busy during dinner time. They are famous for quill which have spicy and non spicy flavour. I love both and v had 8 between us. Other dishes is not bad too. Steam Fish is fresh and doesn't have the fishy taste. It is good for family and kids ask they have round big tables and square tables.
Great food, unfortunately not so good service. Still visit the place every now and then though.
We come here for the food (quails - 5/5 for taste).
We don’t want to come here because of the service - or lack there of.
Often the staff are so outnumbered we have resorted to getting our tea and rice refills ourselves. (The owner appears happy when this happens as they are completely run off their feet).
Toilets need an upgrade.or even just a clean.or some hand sanitiser.
Decor is stuck in 1983 but so is the service so it’s all part of the.experience.
Overrated quail. The owner is a terrible person just as all the reviews say - rude and disrespectful to both customers and staff.
VERY VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.the waiter just throw the take away box to the table! NO RESPECT AT ALL!
WORST "RESTAURANT" IN THE WORLD. Owner seem to enjoy punishing her customers, screaming and yelling at her patrons. The quail is SO OVERRATED. Like a bit of burnt, dry, stringy meat? Sure, try this place. Do yourself a favour, just go eat some warm petrol station sushi - the service and food there would be better.
I love the quail here. It's sooooo good. Pretty much what they are famous for. Try it at least once. It's spicy btw.
