I thought going at 9.30am I would be safe from queues, this is Melbourne and it's the only Lune open during festive season. Missed out on the margherita pizza escargot by.

Yes croissants were good but worth waiting 20-30 minutes for, probably not. Go early I guess and worth trying but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for these croissants again you can get really good croissants at a lot of places

Lune Fitzroy is a good place for a quick bite of croissant and a cuppa. The flow of customers is really fast and seats become available fast. Lunch crowds gather but they do take outs.

Delicious. Friendly. Open and spacious. Went two days in a row just so I could try more things.

Pricey but definitely the best almond croissant you can get in Melbourne.
They're meticulous about their craft and you can see that from the precision work in their open kitchen
The spacious open warehouse interiors really bring out the pastry craft
Fairly limited seating area though, this place seems more of a take out spot

It is much bigger than the one located in CBD. I am a big fan of LUNE but they don't have a store where I live. I went pass the CBD store 2 mornings and it was a long line up: (
I went to Fitzroy and just go straight and order. The store was still busy however it has a big dine in area and the design was so cool.
Highly recommended the almond croissant as that is the one im craving for

Our third visit to Lune (as we are from NSW). We always come here when in Melbourne. The BEST croissants and pastries. The ham & gruyère was incredible! We were lucky enough to have no line up this time! Sitting at the bar watching them make croissants is so awesome. They are very precise, which is shown through the consistency of their pastries - every time. So glad you are opening in NSW finally!

Croissants 6 out of 10.
Only 1 type of croissants was available in the morning.
Tastes like a loaf, not a croissant. Expensive price. The service has problems.
Hopefully they will improve their business.

Two boxes of croissants were on the way to Sydney to share with our family. After eaten them all, if I could describe my experience with a single word, I would say: “Scrumptious”?

Pastry is very nice top class and better than hotel standard as the pastry is baked fresh. Best to come early, make pre-orders to avoid disappointments.

We only manage to try original, ham and cheese and cinnamon.

They quickly run out of their menu selections as fresh batches run out so fast!

Best to arrive before 8 or after 11 (this was on a weekday though)

This place is worth it. It's worth lining up for and worth the high prices. As the saying goes you get what you pay for and the croissants here are only another level.

Plain and ham/cheese croissants is what I would recommend trying.

Tried their new monthly special tomato tart but was unfortunately almost chilled? Their plain croissant was lovely and warm though so would come back for that!

Lune has the best butter taste in their croissants as always, but the overall quality of the pastry seems to be deteriorating every time. The first photo is a croissant from this morning and the second and third photo are from few months back. I am not a professional baker but today it seems to be under developed in some way to me, perhaps under proved or too high temperature causing it almost become a brioche instead of a laminated pastry. The crumbs and the honeycomb structure are missing, and lacking the right texture of a good croissant. I used to come here everyday but Lune is definitely not as good as before, its overrated for an average quality croissant. Very disappointed experience today.

Is not just about the product. They really know what they do and why they do it. The place is focus in one only purpose, deliver the best patisserie with dedication and nothing else. The setting and the simplicity shows what they really care about. Is brilliant.

I had the almond croissant and oat hot chocolate on a busy Sunday morning. It is amazing that you are able to sit and watch the croissants being made in front of you, it is quite fascinating and entertaining. I was surprised that my hot chocolate which was being made to order was passed to me a few minutes before the croissant, which did not need any preparation.
The croissant was incredible, with such a nice flavour and texture, the best I have ever tasted, however, I would recommend sharing with someone else as they are huge (considering the price, they should be), and the almond filling gets sickeningly sweet 1/3 of the way through it.
What would make it much better is if the croissants were kept warm, so they tasted a bit more fresh and indulgent.
It was also a bit disappointing that their drinks selection is very limited, the introduction of almond milk, and chai latte's would be great!

I would recommend going to Lune, but those are just a couple of things to be aware of!

Cool place for some croissants fix.
Large space, modern industrial designed restaurant with open kitchen. Best to be here early to avoid long queue!

Beautiful layering seem in their croissants.
Photo attached. Recommended.

There were only two options available. But it was my fault, came 5 minutes after they closed. Their croissants are amazing. My personal favorite is the gruyere

I heard two fascinating things about LUNE CROISSANTERIE: first it is said they serve the best croissants in the world. Secondly, the founder - Kate Reid - has a history in F1. Off I ran early in the morning to their bakery in Fitzroy.

From far, you could already see the people queuing up. I joined the stylish crowd and read Kate’s story on my iPhone in the meantime. After an inspiring read, it was my turn: I stood inside LUNE in front of a solid exposed concrete counter. The interior design is simple, yet powerful and pure. You can see the passion for details. TRADITIONAL, PAIN AU CHOCOLAT, HAM AND GRUYERE, and ALMOND. Although I was on my own, I ordered two traditional croissants, two pains au chocolat in their beautiful gift box, and a magic to go.

I walked a few minutes into a park and sat down in the warm grass under a tree. I slowly opened the box and took a deep breath in. The smell of the freshly baked croissants and pains au chocolat was mind-blowing. I lifted the first croissants. It was crunchy from the outside. I picked a small piece of the top layer, perfectly shiny and crisp. It immediately melted on my tongue. I then took a first bite. The croissant was soft and fluffy inside. What a perfect harmony: fresh, light, soft and crisp.

I looked at the pain au chocolat: “You are NEXT! ” I Carefully peeled off the top layer again. I hold this ultra-thin layer against the sky. It was so thin that you could easily look through. It was shiny and crisp. I then took my first bite: the dark chocolate inside was still warm and melted in my mouth. The elegant bitterness of chocolate married well with the fresh butter, the crunchy outside layer and the soft and light inside: a beautiful harmony, an amazing sensory journey. I closed my eyes and took a second bite. You could hear the crunchy outer layer breaking between my teeth, the butter smelled and tasted fresh, the chocolate got more and more intense: it was like walking on a cloud.

I have nearly forgotten to drink my coffee – a magic. Which is magical because I am a coffee person and I normally start with the coffee. The coffee was very tasty too, very smooth, sweet and well balanced.
