65There is nothing that can convey via words how extraordinary this experience was. I have many food intolerances and they were accommodated with no issues. There were only 2 small moments impacted and it wasn't drawn attention to, in fact it was treated as if it was part of the standard degustation menu. The beverage list was a beautiful mix of traditional and unusual. I loved the addition of lesser-known wine varietals at an amazing price point that encouraged my dining partner to move beyond their preconceived notions of wine pairings. Definitely a bucket list ticked off and I only hope I have the luxury to be able to dine with your team again.
The take-away food during COVID-19 from Lume is not to be missed. All staff we dealt with were so friendly and welcoming. The food itself was amazing. The vegetarian lasagne was so tasty and the barramundi was even better. We will be back! I highly recommended this place.
Was here for the Melbourne Cocktail Festival and was very impressed with the high quality of the food, cocktails and service. Also have to say, really enjoyed the Bread with the Beef Fat Candle. Will definitely be back to sample the full menu.
I would describe the food as ‘interesting’ but not as ‘delicious. ’ Definitely got to try some unusual ingredients and experienced some unfamiliar tastes, but I can’t say I really enjoyed it. It was not very satisfying, neither taste-wise nor in terms of serving size, but I can tell they’ve put a lot of effort into making their dishes unique.
Chef serves foraged local Australian cusine. Delicious and clean. The staff is also very friendly.
What an absolute delight this lovely restaurant is! Fantastic service and heavenly food. Highly recommended.
Nice service but unpredictable food since it keeps changing.first time was amazing second I would describe as 'meh'. But for the price, I'd expect more than a 'meh' experiance.
Interesting experience- quite different from other classic fine dinning. It’s the place if you willing to try something different
Was not sure what to expect form a foraging restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. Interesting 12 dish menu with some component neither of us would normally try. Fantastic combination of flavours with all the dishes with the standouts being the Wallaby, Blue Mussels (my friend would not normally try but loved it) and the fish combo and the Tommy Ruff herring. I'm not normal a desert person but both the Stone Fruit & the Honey & Lavender were outstanding - would certainly return.
Despite the price tag - this resturant is a good of example of how sometimes expensive doesnt mean tasty.
Specifically, we had an iced dish that was frozed with nitous gas; the problem is the small frozen balls got stuck to your tongue and would burn. The desert was an absolute inedible disaster for this reason.
Additionally we paid for the biggest course. Halfway through we were upsold for an additonal $60 for another extra course of wagu beef. In my opinion this should have just been included in the sitting or not offered at all. It is strange for an upscale resturant to further push for more money like that.
Disappointingly, this 5 star restaurant has turned me off fine dining strictly because I paid near $400 per person to be disappointed with inedible courses.
Had my birthday dinner here with my partner mid December 2019 and ordered the Full Lume Degustation plus a celebratory dessert ‘Ube Cake’. The restaurant has a warm and comfortable ambience and I liked how tables weren’t too close to one another.
I enjoyed the intense flavours of the mud crab and king prawn dishes and the lighter flavoured ingredients in the scallops & sweet potato sandwich, bass grouper and wagyu dishes. Dishes I found disappointing was the shiitake mushroom with ‘Great Ocean Duck’ as there were only 3 or 4 thinly sliced teaspoon sized pieces of the duck which I thought should have been the highlight of the dish. The ube cake and banana spring roll wasn’t as interesting or as tasty as the other dishes (subjective?) but I did enjoy the flan with ice cold pineapple. Overall the flavours on the plate worked well together and I was quite impressed with the variety of ingredients used.
The staff were amazing and really pleasant. The only annoying part was I left feeling hungry after spending $300. Great experience though.
Amazing food, service, drink pairings. EJ knows his stuff, forages for original ingredients and was kind enough to let us eat the fi all course with him and pose for a photo
. He also presents some of the dishes. 100% recommend and would return in a heartbeat
Absolutely amazing menu from a talented young chef. The tasting menu is a great way to try as many dishes as possible. The decor is beauty and the staff are knowledgeable, both food and wine. The wine list has an interesting selection. Highly recommended and I’ll definitely be back.
Very good presentation of food. We liked the potato chip with filling that looks like oyster. One can not make out that, what looks like a shell is made from potato. One of us was veg and the matched every dish but made a veg version of it. Really awesome experience.
In my view the quality dropped quite a bit recently. Always enjoyed going there, but recently the individual menu pieces appear to be rather careless and loveless but together
It was the most fantastic dining experience the chef produced the most artistically done dishes even the tableware was exclusive to the dishes our french server Alex stole the show with his lovely humerus and fun descriptions
Words cannot express how amazing the food and it's presentation was! But Alex, the gentleman serving us, made the whole experience so worth while! His humor, his explanation and charm made us all fall in love with the evening!
Great rang of wine selection, for the food especially the final dessert I personally think it’s a bit strange in taste, overall it’s a good experience
Service was attentive, main course of chicken was a let-down and dessert felt like a palate cleanser.
