Best banh mi in the north side of town. Glad to have found this shop, where previously we had to go further into Footscray to get decent proper banh mi. We have tried the crackling pork, charcoal pork and the caramelised tofu, and all were thoroughly enjoyed. The shredded carrot, pickle and salads are fresh and crunchy, not stingy with the meat filling and the bonus crispy shallot on top (and peanut if you like). There is usually a line during peak hours but it is well organised and wait times are not that long.

PLEASE be hygienic with your food preparation & don’t cross contaminate the meats. There is such thing as allergies and food poisoning

It's such a shame this place is so good. The lines.waiting at lunch time is horrible. Basically whole lunch break is spent waiting inline and you then have to quickly gobble down ya bahnmi like a ravenous dog that hadn't eaten in days.
If your the patient type, you won't go wrong choosing this place. 1 star down for long lines. Another star lost for not opening for breakfast.

Seriously we discovered Luke’s Bakery 2 pretty much as soon as it opened, and it’s clear they have something amazing on offer by the sheer momentum of their popularity. Lines down Puckle have become the norm for this amazing & authentic Bahn Mi speciality shop! We are so happy to have such a delight in our neighbourhood! Love love love!

Best Bahn mi I've had. There is a reason there is always a line here. Plan to wait 10-15mins at the lunch peak. Believe me it is worth the wait.

Heard really good things about this place but unfortunately, my experience was not positive at all. The staff chop the Bánh mì pork, beef and chicken using the same chopping board and cleaver without wiping in between orders. I cannot eat pork so politely asked if they could give the board a quick wipe before placing my piece of chicken on it. The response was an abrupt, “we can’t wash for you. ” I explained that I didn’t ask for it to be ‘washed’ but simply wiped so that I’m not tucking into bits and pieces of meat I cannot eat. After a short discussion with another employee from behind the bain-marie, they declined my request and I walked out.

If you don’t mind having a bit of whatever meat was served prior to you in addition to whatever you order, this place might be ok for you. If you do take exception to a bit of cross contamination, have allergies, or have religious beliefs that prohibit you from eating certain things, then this place will not be on your top list of bakeries. Although I didn’t see it, it’ll be interesting if they prepared the vegan patties/ Bánh mì‘s on the same haunted chopping board.

Will certainly not return.
