Luke's Bakery 2 Moonee Ponds / Luke’s Vietnamese reviews
27Not a bad banh mi joint. By itself, the carrots and raddish were reasoned well, the bread was delicious, crunchy and fresh and the pork belly/ char siu were seasoned well and super tender. But I think what dragged the score down for me was the ratio between meat: bread: veggies. It wasn't balanced super well with the meat overpowering everything. But I think if you took some of the meat out, it would have been fabulous
Very tasty! Generous portions, great smell and taste. Definitely, ome of the best banh Mi, I've had.
I ordered Luke’s special, the pork is a bit too fat and the flavour is ok but not a surprise. I would wish more crackling to go. Price wise is reasonable.
I ordered traditional Vietnamese cold meat and ham roll. The roll very heavy and big full of meat and ham, pickle carrot, spring onion and coriander. The bread itself is bit disappointed as it wasn't crunchy, when you bite into it so much crumbs breaking up. The pate and mayonnaise are really good, cold meat cut very thick compared with other banh mi shop. Unfortunately too much pickle carrots overpower the pate and meat and make the bread go soft very quickly. $8 is value for money because the roll very big can share between 2 person.
Luke’s does a fantastic Vietnamese roll, only $10, hard to beat for value or taste. Can be a bit of a wait but always worth it. Recommend the Luke’s Special for a delicious pork lunch.
One of the best banh mi spots in Melbourne and our favourite since they opened in Moonee Ponds, we love the Luke's Special, Luke's Favourite 1 and Crackling Pork - banh mi prices here are $8-$10 and they have vegetarian/vegan options too
Came here today to try and did not dissapoint. Had the luke special and ham banh mi with bbq pork bun + custard bun as well a few dim sims. Prepare to wait in line as this place is quite popular. Well worth it though!
2nd time I have had it. First time was delicious. This time there was a 25 min wait and when we fimally received our roll, the pork was a bit chewy which was a shame. Just think they were too busy. I had the bbq pork roll.
My godmother drives all the day from Thomastown to get banh mi from here, so I decided to try it myself and see what the hype is about. So bloody amazing!
I’ve never had a banh mi before so Luke’s has set the bar high
Vietnamese pork rolls from here are absolutely delicious, all the food here is delicious but you might have to wait in line because they are very popular
I had the Lukes special, it was nice but it was falling out the roll. I understand it’s a fast pace store, but they need to keep the area they are preparing the food In front of customers organised and clean.
Stunning. Great bahn mi, quick service, surprisingly good pricing. There was a bit of a line, but they went through it so quickly it wasn't a concern
WOW this banh mi place is something else!
This is the best banh mi I have ever had, the bread was fresh soft on the inside crispy on the outside, it was packed with ingredients with perfect amount of everything. The meatballs and ham were juicy and the pickled veggies were perfect. The chilli and pate and mayo were delicious. This place makes pork roll with LOVE. Definitely recommend worth every dollar 12/10.
The bread was good before, but it went down hill. I once found a cockroach inside the pork I ordered, the owner wasn't happy that I have addressed the issues and told me to leave in a aggressive manner.
Luke’s Special hands down could be the Best Banh Mi in Melbourne. The long queue out the front is a clear sign that the food is next level otherwise people wouldn’t lineup and wait I went at 3: 00pm on school holidays and there was about a 15-20 minute wait. Fresh, delicious and crunchy it has everything you want in a Banh Mi. The bread wasn’t stale and great portions of meat for the price.
We have just moved from Sydney where we thought Marrickville Pork rolls were the Best. Until we moved to Melbourne and found Luke's WOW
I was a little early for the vegan crackling to be ready but the vegan roast pork banh mi was 5/5 and I didn't even eat it until 2 hours later, I will definitely come back.
Can be busy and a wait. But worth it.any combo is fresh and full of flavours. All fresh elements. Go try it.the best in the north!
Best banh mi ive ever had! Coming from someone who’s tried so many other places, this one is the best by far.instead of lining up at nhu lan footscray, come here instead.ordering the luke’s special is the way to go.with both charcoal and crackling pork, the combination of flavour and texture gives it that perfect indulgent mouth feel.the roll is always filled with so much meat that you can’t even get your mouth around it! However, the pate here isn’t the best i’ve had, and they do charge extra if you want more.with that said, i’m still willing to pay $10 for an otherworldly banh mi, and i’ve had 3 in the past week! For banh mi enthusiasts, you cant miss this.
Will be my go to Banh mi from now on, beats lots of other banh mi areas located in Footscray. Super generous with toppings even though it is more expensive than other shops it is definitely worth it! Iced coffee is also superb too! Luke’s bakery well done! We will definitely be back! Keep up the good work!
