This place was ok, we got out food in a reasonable time, but the staff looked like they were rushed and under the pump. I would have to say the food is over price for the quality. But considering where it is you gotta expect thatvi suppose.

Nice restaurant with great service. Food was quick to the table. Taste was good but limited choices for yum cha.

There is a certain expectation that comes when you book a restaurant within the Crown complex. The expectation is that the food and service will be first class. There are always exceptions to that rule and Lucky Chan is definitely one of those. We booked well in advance for our Mothers Day lunch and we were a group of 5. Upon arrival for the 11am Yum Cha sitting the place was packed.but we were welcomed professionally and seen to our table. Now I won't put too finer point on this given current international tensions, but we were clearly seated in the 'Westerner's Section'. We passed another area to our left that seemed exclusively non westerner, if you get my drift. Odd. But as the lunch unfolded my concern was that our section did not have the pick of the waiting staff. We ordered 10 dishes from the Yum Cha menu. Only 6 ever arrived. It was chaos. Every single waiter who entered our area looked at our order docket (assuming they were looking at the table number?) Then they would wander around aimlessly from table to table looking at each docket and then wander off. Minutes later another waiter would repeat the process with the same dishes in hand. There was one waitress who literally did not put one dish on any table. The consequence of course was a lot of frustrated patrons and a lot of cold dishes sent back to the kitchen. In the end we complained and a more senior waiter literally went to the kitchen to return with our missing dishes. The table next to us would have sent a dozen dishes back. It was a shambles - and service like I have never seen within the Crown Complex. The food was good but the service was appalling and really took the shine off what was meant to be a special occasion.

Had dinner there last night Saturday 22nd May. The place was busy at 7.30 for our booking but we were seated immediately. Ordered BBQ glazed pork, crispy skin chicken, LargeFried rice & King Prawn with Vegetables. 1 bottle of Moet Champagne. Sevice was fast and professional. Ok so here is my complaint is one word. MSG it was used in one or all of the cooking process. Basically bloated stomachs for 12 hours and dehydrated feeling til morning. They need to advise customers if they are going to put this poison in their food.

Pretty disappointing really. I've dined in the Crown Complex enough times to expect a high standard of service and food quality. Lucky Chan had poor customer service on Sunday for Mothers Day. No smiles, didn't make us feel important and special, which I'd expect when you're paying top dollar for Yum Cha.
The most disappointing thing was having yum cha with no trolleys bringing around the delicious dumplings and assorted dishes. I thought it could be due to Covid restrictions but a friend was having yum cha with trolleys in a south east Melbourne restaurant. I guess Lucky Chan didn't get the memo!
They even took my wine glass without asking me if I'd like another.unheard of usually in a Crown restaurant.

Not sure I'll go back after spending $240 for 4 at Yum Cha! The topper was one of our dumpling dishes had dumplings that were frozen in the middle!
Madness

Restaurant is large with private rooms. Five star price but doesn't match the food taste or customer service. Booked the private room for 10 people dinner on a weekday. Expected waitress to be close by. Ordered mainly seafood which were priced very high but tasted just OK. Other dishes portion was small for a table of 10. Won't be coming back.

Over priced. Some of the food was alright, and some of it was bad.
The staff was rude, one of the waiter just threw our food on the table without apologies.
The waiting time for the food is long as well, so we just went withou eating all dishes that we ordered, some of it was still in the kitchen.
Do not recommend at all, this a restaurant at crown, it should at least be good at the service which they did not have.
First time here and last time here.: (

Not sure why this place has the level of reviews however my experience has been great every time I have visited with my partner. The food and service is incredible not to mention the venue itself. Overlooking the water is just an added bonus:)

Have and will continue to recommend to friends and family!

We were staying at Crown Towers in December and decided to have dinner here. Wasn’t sure after reading the reviews. The service was excellent and the Manager was very welcoming. The food was good although, the fried rice could have been a bit better. The waitress who attended to us was most attentive. We had a great time here.

I think they changed their management? The food and service is much better now. Really worth a visit if you after nice chinese cuisine.

Indeed Lucky Chan is ‘lucky’ that they can still survive the restaurant with the kind of quality of food which they are presenting at such exorbitant prices. As one review has mentioned, the quality is of little difference from what the food court offers.

A simple fried rice can tell it all. For any one who has a degree of expectation, the large pieces of fried eggs has already hinted the expertise of the cooks there. The tofu standard and the presentation of the food was also equally disappointing. The service standard and attitude of the staff in suits (not the ones in white uniforms) are somewhat sub-par from the expectation of a restaurant in an elegant casino.

GOOD YUM CHA WITH KIDS! Let's start by talking about why I personally haven't step foot in this establishment for over 20 years. Pricing. Now that's where Lucky Chan's has failed for me, having a reputation for being overpriced. Many yum cha connoisseurs would know that the waiting staff and chefs often jump from one place to another. At some stage you'll cram your way into Plume Doncaster, and see the same Chinese dude from the week before at Gold Leaf Sunshine. (For a moment I thought I was being racist.) This is very common, and you'll find the quality will only vary marginally because of this reason. Generally speaking, it's usually same same, bar a few superstars like Secret Kitchen in the city (whom I gave 1 star for their 60 min sitting. Shame). For Lucky Chan's, this visit was different. The service exceeding my expectations, the ambiance was perfect, and of course we're paying premium for the waterfront view. Except we're not. The total bill reflected any other bill I pick up at other yum cha tea houses. It then made me think, why have I been subjecting myself to this torturing queuing and speed eating when I could have been here by the water, sipping on tea in peace? Secret Kitchen is overrated. Will return soon.

The rudest management of those Cantonese speakers. Better avoid this place!
Better train your team with strong sense of politeness and manners!

Service is the worst I've ever experienced given its in crown. The waitresses just stare at us for no apparent reason. They demanded us to pay even before we have finished and weirdly ask to see my banking app. Anyways DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Great food. Service was okay, except for the rude manager that did not show us respect what so ever. Whilst we were eating our dinner, she turned of our lights WHILST WE WERE EATING. And indirectly pushed us to finish quickly. Absolutely unprofessional.

Absolutely the best restaurant I have ever been too, the food is exceptional, excellent service, can't fault this restaurant. I will eat there every time I go to Melbourne. YUM!

Looked like a nice place walking by, menu sounded good we headed in.greeted fairly quickly then taken to our table, our waiter came along we should have left such bad service for a great looking place, a lack of knowledge regarding the menu you would expect each staff would be trained well especially for the amount you spend, trying to get staff attention they could not be bothered, standing around talking to each other, texting where they think we couldn't see them, I was so frustrated at waiting for more drinks we just got up and left never again our guests mentioned we would have got better service from the food court outside. Disappointed
