L'Artigiano Ivanhoe

My partner and I are regulars at this Italian restaurant. Great pasta, great service, every time. It's our go-to spot for a cozy and delicious Italian dinner together. Also great wine list. Highly recommended!

Nothing to crave about. Food was average, (panna cotta very bad). The waiter looked a bit too annoyed. Not a good experience

My husband and I enjoyed a meal on Saturday night at L’Artigiano with a group. As always, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the meal was lovely. I particularly enjoyed the sea perch that is a current special on the menu. A great night all round! Thanks again

Worst Greeting we have ever had as the owner just pointed to the table.

I ordered a $46 seafood fettuccine however received spaghetti with less than a handful of pasta with 2 prawns on top. The first bite tasted full of Garlic when I put my light on my pasta with my phone to look at my meal I had 2 black long hairs in the pasta!
I called owner and he didn’t even apologise, he just said I’ll get you another one (SOO RUDE). I said not thanks and just ordered simple calamari entree for $20 for less than 6 pieces. Still no apology.
My wife ask for a vegetarian pasta with vegetables in it and he just said leave it to me. It had 3 tiny square pieces of only sweet potato! No sauce dry as anything it was un eatable.
YES HE ALSO CHARGED ME FULL PRICE AND DIDN’T EVEN OFFER ME A COFFEE FOR HAIR FOUND IN THE FOOD.
YES I WOKE UP IN THE MORNING AND HAVE BEEN SICK VOMITING ALL DAY FROM YOUR FOOD, I will be reporting you to your local council.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO AND DO A COURSE TO LEARN HOW TO TALK TO PEOPLE AND RE TRAIN YOU STAFF.

Will never come back and do NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL.

Our group shared amazing food and wines, plus we were lucky enough to experience some fantastic folk musicians called Bric a Brak. 10/10 night for us.

A beautiful, cozy, local Italian restaurant with a relaxed vibe and exceptional service. This is a small business run by people who truly care about their customer's experience. Owner is lovely! Always helpful and super accommodating (dietaries, drinks, etc.). Food is flavorsome and authentic. Fish specials are always a standout!

Great location with plenty of car parking spaces nearby. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had booked a table for 13 and were in a what seemed like a private dining area which was perfect. Great decor and overall vibes. The food was also on point, with plenty of authentic flavour! Thanks for having us & keeping the place open until 10pm which was past the listed closing time of 9pm - we really appreciate it!

Been here a few times, usually fairly busy so book b4 you go. Food is consistently good. I have no complaints and will definitely return.

The ambience is nice. It locked like a nice place. But the main server (the one with glasses) came across rude. We asked if he can not put chillies in the prawns, but he rudely said no we can't. No reason given why. The food however cam eout promply and was tasty. The garlic bread was nice as was the beef stake. However when having the pesto pasta we found a long hair in it. The server didn't charge us for pasta, but it just ruined the whole vibe of the place. Don't wanna go to this place even though they had yummy garlic bread

We've moved interstate now but being back in Melbourne, we had to visit L'Artigiano as it was one of our favourites and it didn't disappoint. There's a new menu with lots of options, but the friendly faces, same friendly service with a smile and great food made for a fantastic night. We've been to L'Artigiano many times and we've never come away disappointed. We'll done to Nick, Anna and the team. Hospitality is difficult but they make it seamless.

The gentleman who I think was in charge was very unfriendly and rude, ruined what was otherwise a lovely evening.

Lovely environment. Staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely wonderful. The gnocchi was by far the best I’ve ever tasted. The salmon was exceptional. Will definitely dine again when visiting Ivanhoe-Melbourne, Australia.

A pleasant surprise. This is not a cheap restaurant but worth the visit. I did find some of the food a bit bland, but well presented. On the whole I would be happy to return

Friendly staff, good service, great selection of food. Would visit again and sit in the front of the restaurant or outside for better ambience.

My husband arranged a birthday dinner for me with 16 people here, we had a private room. We booked for 5.30 on a Saturday so well before any type of dinner ‘rush’. The assorted entrees were great, calamari fantastic. But that’s where the good stuff ends. I’m not a fussy eater by any means and I found the menu seriously lacking. I ended up choosing gnocchi in desperation as I couldn’t find any of my usual restaurant go to’s of a risotto or any type of chicken dish. Most limited main menu I’ve ever seen. I’ll say all the food was fresh and quality made, but my experience was marred by little annoyances. We were split over 2 tables and one table got all their food well before the other. Not ages, but long enough that the second table started looking and wondering where their food was. The 2 young waiters who brought the entrees who looked like teenagers got confused about what to put on each table, but it got sorted, and frankly they were the only 2 staff who cracked a smile the whole night.
The main guy just gave me a vibe of being slightly annoyed the whole time. He came for mains orders twice with barely a few minutes in between and half of us were still saying hello to each other, I felt rushed. He was ‘professional’ but just seemed like he couldn’t wait for us to leave each time he came in the room. As the bday girl I was busy chatting all night yet I still noticed the attitude. Not one of them said happy birthday upon entry or exit. Which would have been a nice touch that cost them nothing. Even as we were leaving I smiled and said Thankyou to a lady wiping the bar (who did nothing, I was just being polite) and it looked as if smiling might be painful for her. Weird. My husband just dropped about a grand here and I’m thanking YOU!? ! Ugh. I’m Italian and well aware that we’re not all super warm friendly ones, but a simple smile speaks a thousand words guys!
If authentic Italian food floats your boat you’ll probably like this place, but growing up with that food it doesn’t impress me much. Whilst the food was quality, I’d never go back to a place that made me feel like I’m a bother.

Good food, nice atmosphere, maybe a little overpriced but okay for an occasion. Would recommend and go again.

This restaurant comes recommended by friends in the neighbourhood with the caveat of a reputation for very slow service (even pre Covid). Overall, the experience was underwhelming which we were disappointed about because we really wanted to like this restaurant and support our local restaurants. Although the staff are very nice, the service is lacking. The food is average and the menu limited which is tough in an area with so many good Italian restaurants especially at the price points. Was expecting more homemade pasta options. The space is beautiful, but recommend other Italian spots for foodies.

Outstanding food. Tried it for the first time recently and every dish was amazing. Very cosy ambience as well. Will definitely return. So great to have a good Italian place in the suburbs.
