Modern asian fusion food beautifully executed. Friendly helpful staff. Will definitely be dining here again.

A wonderful dining experience from the moment we were greeted at the door to the farewell at the close of the evening. The dining room is sleek, well-appointed, intimately lit, and comfortable. The music selection was great and the ambient background noise of the open kitchen and bar only add to the energy and atmosphere of the room. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and they worked with both humour and efficiency - warm, genuine hospitality. They offered excellent guidance across both the food and beverage menus, and did so deftly and confidently. All our dietary requirements were managed with ease and clarity.

The food was, simply put, utterly delicious. Starting with snacks and then moving on to slightly larger items before our mains, each plate that hit the table was a revelation, so tasty and flavoursome. The only thing that stopped us from doubling-down and ordering even more food was our very full bellies.

Needless to say, we left very full, very happy, truly replete and satiated. We will certainly be back. Cannot recommend more highly.

Calling all ‘wat tan hor’ (saucy eggy wok breath dish) lovers! This is a premium dish with a twist. It is served with prawns amongst other crunchy pieces and the noodles are rolled rice noodles instead of your average flat rice noodles.

If you were only going to try one thing, please order this! Thank me later.

If you wanted to try more than one thing, get the fried chicken-packed with flavour and toragashi sauce on the side, ox tongue that melts in your mouth, their signature sticky glazed pork aka charsiew.

For my pescatarians, try raw fish with sansho vinaigrette-the balance of flavour is no joke, and the steamed market fish- oh my- so supple and delicious, or the steamed custard egg- this is a nest of mushroom floss, texture and umami goodness.

For my vegans, I got you. Try their eggplant as their mains, that with their Asian potato salad as a side *chef kisses* and some Japanese rice to mop up all the sauce.

Delish Hongkong influenced dishes - though the name 'Lagoon' does not exactly suggest that it's Chinese!
Good services. Dim light, comfy ambiance, almost dark and quiet from the outside

Found this restaurant during COVID time, a rare Asian dining on busy Italian Lygons street and we keep coming back. Dishes we tried were all beautiful! Try away

Average experience, which is disappointing given the mostly positive reviews.

We dined with a group of 8 and had the set menu. The positives were that the food was delicious, flavoursome and generous portions. The staff were also very accommodating for dietary requirements.

Negatives: Extremely narrow venue and difficult to accommodate a pram (the staff seemed visibly irritated by the presence of a pram, which was a bit uncomfortable however they didn't offer any alternative solutions).

$5 cakeage fee per person. Have no issue with a cakeage fee however most comparable restaurants are $10 per table or $2.50 per person. $5 per person seems excessive to me for large groups.

Serving staff seemed generally disinterested and a bit short and abrupt. The exception to this was one of the chefs who brought out a pork dish and was lovely.

We could have informed the venue prior to attending that we would have a young child for our 6pm booking, however they could have been more accommodating and not made us feel so unwelcome or inconvenient.

Our group of 10 ordered the feed me menu. Servings were extremely small even for this kind of restuarant. All the food was so spicy and did not taste like Asian fusion. Just a mess of spices.

The staff were very grumpy and were unhappy to fill our waters and the waitress also seemed upset at us and we did not feel welcome at all. They were keen for us to leave saying "are you guys done here? " when we stood up.

The only good thing was the char siu with rice and salad.

My third visit this year. Every visit surpasses the previous. Perfectly paced, warm and genuine service delivered by friendly people. Dishes are executed and seasoned perfectly, the food leaves you wanting more and more. The space is intimate with beautiful lighting and always has a great vibe. Perfect for any occasion. I can't wait to return!

Terrible Experience. We booked with a group of 7 people. Due to having more than 6 people we were forced to have a set menu (which I did not enjoy but taste is subjective so let's ignore whether I liked the food or not for now). The restaurant is extremely narrow, we had a 6 month old with us and the pram struggled to get in there. We had left an ice cream cake with the staff to keep in the freezer and post dinner after spending $120 per head were presented with the news that if we wanted to eat the cake we'd have to pay $5 per head ($35 fee to eat a cake that we brought?). It was difficult to talk due to the noise and felt the staff were short and unhelpful for the most part (but again this is subjective so feel free to ignore that).

Very little space, forced menu, highly priced food and the gall to charge to eat birthday cake are things that weren't subjective however, which is what made this disappointing.

PS after telling the staff we'd like the bill (and weren't going to pay to eat the cake there) they popped the ice cream cake out on a bench near us without telling anyone where it melted and was inedible.

One of our favourite places to eat. Unpretentious but professional and friendly service, great modern Asian-fusion food - authentic flavours with Lagoon's own special twist. And a really good wine list too. A reliably good time. We will keep on coming back.

We dined as a larger group on Wednesday evening and what a treat! The service was warm, knowledgeable and attentive with exceptional bespoke cocktails and thoughtful wine list. Our dietary requirements were handled with ease and a smile. The portions were more than generous and ever so delicious. Dishes were executed with balance and flavour beyond what I had experienced before. Lagoon hit it out of the park. If I could rate it 6/5 I would. Thank you and we will be back.

Service was attentive however the dishes were too salty for our liking, we had to have a bowl of large white rice each just to make the dishes more palatable. The dessert was a bit average as well.

Came here for Valentines Day dinner and it was really good.

We particularly enjoyed the smoked tiger prawns with shellfish vinaigrette and barramundi in hunan chilli dressing. We would get the shellfish vinaigrette and put it on all our dishes.

Slightly disappointed with the steamed egg custard which probably is their rendition of chiwamushi - the egg custard was not silky enough to our liking and it could probably be more flavourful with more dashi stock.

The sticky rice was very dry and I like my glutinous rice moist and sticky (as the name goes) so that was not a very fulfilling dish.

My rating star increases as long as the staff keep sending the dishes to the table. The decorations is no doubt 5 star but space was little bit narrow in the restaurant. This is an Asian style fine dining. When I firstly looked at the menu I found how greedy the restaurant is charging way too high for those daily common Chinese cuisine. We ordered the Lion’s head meat ball, the beef tongue, the beef tartare, the rice noodles roll and the steamed fish. There are reasons why the food worth their price. Their lion’s head flavored super traditional even better than those Chinese chefs restaurant. The beef tartare has also flavored as Thai style with veggies to decrease the hot feeling. Must try! The steamed fish is friendly to those who cannot spit fish bone properly. The restaurant has altered the dishes flavored to make them suitable for costumers from anywhere. Super special. Recommended

Dined on a Saturday outside. Did the feed me menu. Food was great and catered for pescatarian. The let down was the drinks and the outside are. Not a huge beer range. The cocktails looked impressive but tasted watered down. Outside decor didn't match the price point.

Definitely go for the feed me option, 5 if you're hungry-ish, 7 if you're really hungry! Either course will leave you a happy person with a big tum because it is delicious. PS, tell staff to tone down spice (chilli) if you don't tolerate spice. Personally, love it.

We had the most incredible dinner on Saturday night, food is incredible, fresh, not fussy delicious we really enjoyed the pork belly, the rice noodles were so delicious, we couldn’t go past the chicken chop, who doesn’t love fried chicken! Yum! Wine list extensive, really cool bespoke cocktails and service was non intrusive, but we felt so looked after! Can’t wait to come back!

Tried ordering through the phone, there was a bad connection, one of the staffs answering the phone seems very impatient and went directly hang up, poor experience
