Lagoon Dining reviews
43Stunning service, and early Jan opening hours. Not a single miss on the menu except for the tofu, and there being not much vegetarian for one in our group. We really wanted to order one of everything.
Six of us dined here, the food and the service throughout was exceptional. The wait person was clearly doing an amazing job, largely on her own. Great advice and approach to us all and good humoured. The food is creative and flavoursome. Too many standouts to name any particular dish. The room upstairs gets noisy when full. We will be back, it’s so good
Could not attend due to a family emergency and was charged $150. Lagoon is making money off no shows!
As others have mentioned, the dishes are strongly and intensely flavoured. If you prefer more delicate flavours or dishes where the main ingredient is the hero, you might be disappointed. Unfortunately, it did not suit us.
We took the 'Feed Me' option and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I dislike cucumbers and they were able to accommodate that and give me different options from my friends. I'm quite busy recommending this place too other people now.
Excellent service, well thought out menu, delicious flavours. Looking forward to coming again.
Julia the waiter who works upstairs was great! Was super lovely, helpful and accommodating the whole evening. Food/atmosphere was also great!
Favorite was the fried chicken and migoreng!
Amazing experience! The food was contemporary and made to perfection. The wine choices were impeccable.
Great service but way too much chili in my opinion (steak tartare, kingfish). Not the experience I've had the first time I came. Upstairs area is not as welcoming as downstairs
It seems like getting chinese on lygon street is like getting bolognese in chinatown. I really would recommend against it!
Dined here for lunch and did a la carte.
Recommend: 5 spice flower bun, fried chicken chop (a must), raw fish kombu kohlrabi fingerlime shiso, charcoal roasted charsiu, creamed corn parfait
Very flavoursome and punchy flavours, overall most dishes were a hit
Amazing food! Had the feed me option and every dish was delicious. Drinks and service both great. Highly recommend!
Amazing restaurant - brilliant food, brilliant staff, brilliant location. Have come back again and again. Highly recommend
The food here is pretty exceptional. Every time we’ve come here there’s been something new to delight in. The char siu is special and the rolled noodles are the best!
The menu has a high emphasis on vegetables, and all the vege based dishes were probably our favourites.
Good little wine list too, and the house cocktails were tasty.
Food was good but would probably recommend against this place if mentioned. Wait times were super long (20 mins past booking time to be seated, 40+ minutes for each course) and the blonde manger/staff member is quite rude and abrupt, which put a damper on things for our group.
Like I said, the food was good, but it is just as easy to go somewhere else where no one is rude and you don't have to wait as long!
A fabulous restaurant we keep on coming back to. Kind staff and lovely team of chefs who make an effort to say hello and serve us our food.
The food really was delicious and good quality! Would recommended dining here to give it a try but I must say unfortunately we were let down by the service when we went last Saturday.
One lady in red looking after us facilitated a great dining experience. She was super kind and friendly - faultless, but their colleague in dark blue was very standoffish and even asking a question seemed like an inconvenience. It made our group feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Also note there is a $5 cake fee per person, which I understand this is business policy and thats fine. We would have been happy to oblige but the lady again was incredibly rude about it making us more than happy to take the cake home to eat it ️
Food poisoning. I’ve been violently sick for the past 3 days and we know it was from this place as 4 others we went to dinner with are also sick. We think it was the oysters as the people who didn’t eat the oysters didn’t get sick.
Excellent dining experience late Friday night. My partner and I shared a feed me menu. Vegetarian-friendly; pescatarian-friendly, with a great emphasis on chili. Some of the best Chinese food I've eaten in Melbourne! Strongly recommend.
A mixed experience. On the plus side, service was very friendly and the ambiance was pleasant. Of the food, we especially enjoyed the dessert, and the mussels with cream cheese were very nice as well. We also had the cucumber, the jelly noodles and the eggplant, which were all overly spicy. The rice noodles were pretty good but not outstanding, the char siu was very porky, and I didn't really like the morning glory but my (Chinese) dinner companions did. With a couple of beers each, the whole meal cost $85 per person, which is not unreasonable but overall we probably won't be back.
