We just come back after 7 years and not a whole lot had changed.
We came for the pirate and mermaid theme but apart from the sword fighting and the play, everything else is pretty standard. The one mermaid they had, the kids didn’t get to meet.
We spent majority of our 3 hour stay, walking around on a treasure hunt. Given the hype around the hunt and excited for the treasure, the kids were pretty disappointed to be rewarded with a cheap lollie.
The toilets were shameful and need to be scrubbed from ceiling to floor.
The parking lot and picnic area aren’t too far a walk from each other so it was convenient being able to walk in and out to get our packed lunch from the car.
I was expecting a little more from the theme but the kids had themselves a great time.

We liked the visit much more than we thought. The place was small but well laid out, with decent activities to keep the kids engaged. Mine loved the maze and archery activities. We also enjoyed the performance included in our visit - it was fun and well scripted and acted.

The place was not far from Bendigo so we went in town for lunch.

There are plenty of things to do, but many of them require you to pay extra e.g. Archery, potion making. Jousting and other arena events are for free.

Planning your day by checking what is on is really important to get the most out of your visit.

Food options are limited but that should be expected given the size of the venue. The other issue is that people will tend to eat around the big events of the day in the arena, meaning that there can be sudden large queues appearing.

Overall it's difficult to give a review that everyone will agree with, as your own feelings will depend on: the weather, your or any accompanying children's attitudes towards medieval/fantasy themes, your ability to suspend belief, and how much you are willing to pay for extras.

We personally had a great time, but we can understand why others may have different opinions.

I really like Kryal castle but they need to work on the food. You want to spend a day there and that means eating. Just get a deep fryer or something.

A unique place and lots of effort done in the buildings. It was in some ways more than I expected.

A great place to visit. It was too cold when we went and couldn't enjoy as much. Had to return early too. Hence we will go again in summer.

Had a lot of fun.
Fun for fantasy fans and for kids. Our kids especially enjoyed the knights and snow queen show. There was face painting, spell casting workshops, sword classes, axe throwing, shadow puppet show and more.
A little park, a small maze, lots of fun photos.
I wish the food was better, more medieval style but its your cheap and nasty sort of food.
Other than that we had a lovely stay.
Will go again.

The bathroom sink is so tiny we couldn't get water for the kettle, end up using the shower. Overall clean.

What a perfect magical place to explore with your family. Everything is reasonably priced. My son and I got a ticket and explored the grounds - did archery, potion making, maze, ate lunch twice - yummy pie & ham and cheese toastie as well as nuggets & chips and coffee and muffin. We also had some photos taken and I was able to buy hand knitted gloves as it felt chilly. We also stayed on grounds overnight and it felt amazing to wake up in a Castle. Best experience ever and will be back again in no time. Thank you so much:)

Great atmosphere despite a bit quiet due to all the lockdowns. My kid loved it and we would definitely come back when things open up again.

An amazing wonderful place to spend a free day in Ballarat, if you haven't been here in years (like I hadn't) you will find Kryal castle every bit as magical as an adult as you did as a kid.

We came here for a Weekend away and a 1 night stay with 2 kids, a toddler and a baby! We weren't expecting to have such a fully packed weekend with non stop activities for the kids. It was absolutely amazing! The room was absolutely beautiful with exceptional tapestry artwork on the walls.

We enjoyed having lunch here with the friendly cats that came to join us. The pizza and burger buns were cooked in the outdoor stone oven and were delicious! We had the pulled beef burgers and the Hawaiian pizza which were all really tasty and the beef was rich and done very well.

There is something for kids of all ages here, walking around the castle seeing each angle of its beauty and the artwork and displays inside was a lot of fun. There are some great plays and shows put on with the horses too. All of this and the activities took up the whole day! An absolutely perfect weekend of fun! Thank you everyone at Kryal Castle, we will be back!

Great way to spend a day. Lots of fun activities for the kids to enjoy. Good attempt at creating a really nice castle feel.

Some things to take care of:

1- As can be expected in a castle theme, some areas may not be pram/stroller friendly (e.g, when climbing stairs).
2- in rainy weather make sure you wear rain boots esp.in the maze.

Consider repricing your admission fees. Too many additional fees for activities and the admission fee is not value for money.

Great experience and really enjoyed taking the family out.
We ended up spending 5 hours there going through the stalls and experience.
Sure its not as horrific a place as I remember when I was 5 (no one getting whipped anymore) But the kids had smiles from check to check and experienced something very different.
Great place that is worth a visit for sure!

I would give this zero if I could. The accomodation was terrible. - the worst place we have stayed in, in a long time. Wifi didn’t work for us and we were told there was something wrong with our devices, that’s 4 iPhones, a MS laptop and an iPad, something wrong with all of them! Never had that anywhere else! We booked the Commander’s quarters for one adult and 2 children. The main room was so tiny and cramped. Not even a place to hang jackets/clothes, no wardrobe/linen cabinet, no extra linen/blankets, the bathroom had no space to even keep the toiletries and there was no mirror in the room. There was a microwave and cutlery but no place to eat. No space to put the suitcases even. Backpacker hostels would be better than this I’m sure. The towel rack that was glued to the shower door fell on my daughter’s toes when she went to the toilet hurting her toes. And there was so much noise from the occupants of the adjoining room we hardly got any sleep. Why would you charge money for something not fit for purpose? This room came up as recommended for the number of guests I put in so I booked it. Had I known how abysmal it would be I would have booked something of better quality. Feel so ripped off! We stayed here years ago and really enjoyed our stay but won’t be coming back.

Always wanted to check this place out. It a little tacky and more suitable for kids but the live jousting and fighting scenes are fun to watch.

Great food, staff & accommodation- it's a bloody medieval castle guys, not a luxury resort.

As to the people who were celebrating at 8.30pm and complaining they got interrupted, it's about being respectful to your fellow guests! What a weird location to have a 'celebration', you think you're at home or something?
And then OF COURSE you have to play the racist card, it's not about the colour of your skin, it's about having some common sense and awareness of others!
