Kitchen Republik reviews
46Great Taiwanese restaurant with something for everyone. We love the fried chicken, rice boxes and dumplings. Eat in is very efficient with an order form and bells to call the waiters.
Always love this place. The service was prompt, great authentic Taiwanese food selection and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended for Xiao long bao, Ay Chung flour-rice noodle oyster and pork intestine, Old Tong beef noodle. Less recommended oyster pancake and kung-pi chicken rice.
Lost its way. It used to be a fun concept of transporting oneself to a food market in Taipei, with a dizzying number of different dishes to choose from. We went there recently and many of the items on the tired looking menus are crossed out, the portions smaller and the flavours bland. Perhaps it’s due to the pandemic, struggling to get staff, change of ownership or a lack of understanding the dark arts of fickle customer trends. Who knows, but we have moved on too.
Box Hill’s demographics are shifting again from pan-Asian. Now it seems that anything that isn’t mainland Chinese has closed or is evidently struggling.
I like the variety and taste. It feels different being in the space, though a bit cramped so don't recommend groups larger than 4
One of my favourite eating place in Box Hill and have lots of choices. Loved the Taiwanese beef noodles and dumplings. Very delicious.
Good variety of different foods, served piping hot and tastes delish. The deep fried chicken is like the hot star chicken in Taiwan. XLB were very good, and the SJB also juicy. Veges were also very good. This is a great place for a snack, or somewhere to have lots of different food.
Lots of variety of asian style dishes. Food is okay but not good.
Cramped with no ventilation and seems way too overcrowded with not so attentive staff.
Awesome meal, service, quality and price. Guaranteed the best vegetarian dumplings and chicken & mushroom dumplings I have ever eaten.
Huge range collection of Taiwanese cuisine. Dessert story, Taiwanese cafe, etc in one shop. The venue is designed that looks like hawkers style. Service is on point. Considered a very popular during busy time
This kitchen republic is a trash when there’s without waitress, all the male waiter is rubbish taken order but forgot the key into the computer, slow service, will only enter the shop if there’s waitress inside
Great value for money. Been here many times and always had good food and experience. Their desserts are one of the must try. Just a happening place to come for Asian food.
Love the variety and the freshness of the food at Kitchen Republik in Box Hill. Closest thing Melbourne has to a hawker centre!
Try the pan fried dumplings and the Taiwanese popcorn chicken!
Not a flash setting but great place to get Taiwanese-style street food. Wide menu selection. Our go to is the xiao long baos, dumplings and the crispy chicken.
Nice variety choice of food from Taiwan especially the deep fried variety.
Drinks is so so and not very good.
Good place to gather.
Bad taste of music selection sometimes
Terrible service, slow had to wait 1/2 hour for a simple order. Not worth it. $25 minimum eftpos
Great food with reasonable prices. This place is packed during lunch/dinner times. There is a great variety of food and delicious drink to choose from. The seating in the restaurant is slightly packed so you might share a table with someone else if you don't mind. I definitely recommend to try this place if you are in the area.
Yet another restaurant that falsely labels food as vegetarian. Has chicken in it. Lead to a big argument. Given plain noodles with no flavouring. Just an insulting experience.
This place is so beyond bad it is hilarious, customer service is NONE EXISTENT, i waited out side to be seated, one of the male staff told me to sit down, and minutes laters, a female staff with some obnoxious attitude told me i was never told to enter (I was), then proceed to ask me if i have ordered, without even handing me the menu. Wow, maybe i should conjure up a menu in my head instead. Ridiculous.
The food is really good. Must try their beef wrap, freshly made and reasonable price. Definitely go back again
