King Jon's Greek Tavern reviews
31The souvalaki are fantastic one of the better original tasting.king Jon is the Adonis of gyro.
Terrible. Not authentic. Chicken with overbearing garlic tzatziki rather than sauce. Yeeros filled with lettuce and dry, over-cooked meat at 7pm. May be fine for a late boozy night but definitely not a meal you will enjoy.
I bought a voucher for a greek feast at King Jon's last week. The original price was $77 for 2 people, with Groupan voucher I paid $39. Before we go there I was under the impression that it was a rather fancy greek restaurant, only to find out it was actually more like a late drunk night kebab place. The food was not bad I must say, and I am not complaining about my experience, because it was fun and I am reminded every day of "the day Ellie took us out for a fancy Greek feast" which makes us laugh. I repeat, the food was good, we enjoyed the dips and kebabs, it was just not what I expected! Perhaps if we went there without a voucher, it'd still be the same price and we wouldn't be disappointed.
Nice traditional Greek souvlaki from the vertical spit. Hard to find these days, everything gone "kebab".
Absolutely delicious! Served straight away food came out quick and staff super friendly! One of the best kebab spots in Melbourne CBD and priced well.
This place has great mouth watering flavours. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I had the family platter and expected it to be huge because I was very hungry but was quite disappointed by the size. Everything was fit onto a medium size square plate with a few dips In plastic containers. The place doesn't look appealing from the outside and it looks like fast food. For $39 I expected the portion size to be double of what I got. I will come back of course.overall it was a tasty experience.
Half hour wait for a single kebab! I asked a few times if they’d forgotten and they said ‘all good’. Eventually when nothing came and I was one of the only customers left, they acknowledged the issue but blamed another customer because “he’d confused them”.
Finally, it arrives with no apology and guess what.all the wrong ingredients.
A memorable experience for all the wrong reasons.
Adequate souvlaki, can't complain. Can certainly complain about the customer service though. Old dude's care factor was so low I'm surprised he bothered to stick out his hand for my money. No hi, thanks, smile, and he got my order wrong to boot. Again, food/pricing was reasonable and I'm not expecting silver service at a place like this, but seriously - up the care factor just a bit mate.
Have eaten in house and really enjoyed the lamb souvlaki. Used Menulog tonight and paid $38 for 2 shaved kebab style lamb souvlaki, and the chips did not get delivered. Way over priced! NEITER MENULOG OR Restaurant were helpful.
My favourite Greek Souvalaki shop in Melbourne CBD! Always great quality food and fast friendly service from the great people who run it. Open late on weekends and available through uber eats. Good souvalaki options, HSPs and other packs. Even some baklava for dessert! Good for lunchtime sustenance or evening nosh. Very good.
The owner was V friendly. Will stagger back in at 4: 30 and ask for the most greasy thing on the menu
