King Jon's Greek Tavern reviews
31 I had the worst experience ordering AND eating from King Jon’s Souvlaki. I ordered and payed online and receive confirmation of said order, on arrival to collect my order I was told they do not accept online orders and then they cancelled my online order and made me pay again for my meal. At least I received a refund. For the meal I subsequently received, the food was burnt and dry and almost inedible, especially the beef and lamb. I paid for the Greek salad with this meal and AFTER paying for this, the men advised me they did not have any Greek salad and only provided lettuce.
On visiting their website 1 month after this, I noticed you can STILL complete an online order.
I summary, I do NOT recommend this Souvlaki bar, the service is shocking, the food is horrible and they have made no attempts to fix any of this.
Meat container of your “choice” No choice on the Uber app! Literally overpaid for chicken off cuts, left overs, good enough for a dog!
Amazing traditional souvlaki. Service was great!
They went out there way to provide everything we asked for, even though it wasn’t on the menu.
Could take a bit of time as they were short staffed but it’s always worth the wait to enjoy a fresh cut souvlaki.
Will definitely be back!
Very nice place to be. Enjoyed very much being there with few friends. Highly recommend to everyone.
Great food and great service, long time coming here for lunches and dinners and can't see myself stopping anytime soon
Lamb souva and HSP always a winner for lunch.
Not fake meat or tasteless sauces!
Its like a second home to me, the staff are super friendly. Service is amazing and on the top of all the food tastes amazing.
Chips were good, the mixed souvlaki was amazing, but for the price I wish the customer service was better. I took a seat while waiting and I was aggressively asked if i was going to eat there lol like chill? I just wanted to be comfortable while waiting for my takeaway
My sister decided she wanted kebabs for dinner so we ordered through door dash (2 Lamb kebabs and 2 chips) when the dasher arrived we got the bag and went back to our room, we opened it and there was only 1 chips a chicken souvlaki with jalapeños. So we called the number and it called door dash support and was useless, then we called this restaurant and the customer service was appalling and rude, the person on the phone kept interrupting when we were trying to explain our order was completely wrong, he just kept saying “chicken and jalapeños” and that he didn’t have our order even tho the money went to his restaurant.
The souvlaki that did come (chicken and jalapeño aka not one we ordered) was mid, the chicken did not look or taste like chicken and there was way too much onion and you could probably count the individual pieces of lettuce because there was that little of it. Chips were cold, oily and soggy and unsalted right when they arrived aswell.
In the end the guy from the restaurant told us it wasn’t his fault (it was) and there’s nothing he can do and did not give us any refund even tho we spent ($60+) which is overpriced for 2 kebabs and chips
I ordered hsp. The taste is ok but zero hygiene.the old guy was sneezing without even covering himself all over the veggies.and he spit on his fingers to get a polythene cover for my takewaywouldnt even recommend to go near this place.
P. S after the owners reply:
Im neither negligent nor irresponsible in writing a review for a restaurant I did visit.its not like there's so much time on my hands to write a wrong review for a wrong restaurant. Atleast own upto your mistakes. Your shop is just beside my work place. Instead of deflecting atleast try to improve your hygiene issues. That being said I would never ever recommend this place.
Bought the big mixed grill. Portion size was good. The food was mostly good but there were a tiny bit of meat not that well cooked. The customer service can definitely be better.
Ordered HSP, Chips were cold and dry (surely over at least 3-4hours old). Chicken was DRY, lamb was meh. Figured i'd give this joint a go as i live in the CBD, this is by far the worse i'd had.plenty of good places near this. Seriously cannot believe the quality.
I occasionally come here after work, and the food was decent. However a bit expensive compared to other places.
Don’t order a hsp here after a big night out, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Probably worst hsp I’ve ever had in my life. Chicken was dry, sauce was overly cold. Waste of $20. Give me a refund
Bought one Souvlaki with Bottled Water, charge $18, but menu price is $14. Lamb bit tough and chewy.
It is not a tavern or bar but a greek joint that sells me a tzatziki with chips and mix meat.
It is alright though I have it better in Braybrook.
Why do they advertise a small and large size kebab when they only sell one size, being small?
Love paying an extra $5 for the large kebab to only get the same size as my friends small one.
This place is a joke.
Jon's Greek Tavern is a small Gem in King Street. Even though small the food is absolutely delicious and price is reasonable. No-one will be disappointed.the service stands out.try it if you are a fan of Greek cuisines. Highly recommended.
Don't think it's a tavern.a cafe with a Greek flavour. Don't expect totally Greek decor.just a cafe. Don't expect a flashy place either. You will get reasonably good value for money food, Kebabs, Soulakis, Salads and the like, and you can have a beer or a glass of wine.just an OK roadside cafe.
Have enjoyed a meal there, prior to going vegan. Recently I went to their store and asked if they have a dairy free garlic sauce available, all I could see was tzatziki. The man who served me, pointed to the tzatziki. I said no, dairy free.
He laughed and was like ehhhh this the only garlic sauce we have. Pulled his co worker over and told him about how I want dairy free garlic sauce. They both laughed at me. I shoooooooook to the core. Idk I expect better considering people have dietary requirements.
Usually a busy place for lunch. A queue for ordering and a small wait for the sovulaki to be served. However the wait time can be ignored as the sovulaki is tasty and filling. Chips are good too.
