I wouldn't recommend this mechanic to people I liked.

I took my car here before Christmas as it was changing gears irregularly and when doing so, the engine and transmission lights would come on. This persisted on and off for a few days before I could get it here.

They scanned the error code and told me something I didn't understand with my limited knowledge of mechanics and quoted me approx. $1300 to fix the immediate problem or approx. $2300 for a transmission rebuild. I agreed to the former and asked if I could leave the car there until it was fixed. They said they had no space to store it (which I fully understand) and I would have to bring it back on Monday morning.

Displeased with their overall service in general and deciding I should get a 2nd opinion before I spent that much money on my car, I drove it 35kms to the auto transmission mechanic my father uses. They scanned the error log and said it was as simple as a faulty turbine speed sensor and could have it fixed in like 20 minutes and for approx. $200. They didn't have the part in stock when they checked but ordered it in and had it fixed in a few hours and for only $280. I'm sure they made some money off me too, but I was happy with their service and for the fact they saved me from being taken for a fool here.

Buyer beware. Do your research and get a 2nd opinion. These guys were definitely the cheapest option for a rebuild, as I was quoted over $3000 by the other mechanic I took it to (if it was needed), but it was a rebuild I never needed in the first place!

Awful business with no respect for customers, but unfortunately they are the most affordable in the state which means they don't need to bother being better.

I call up asking about my specific cars error code as I understand it to be a slipping gear.
The guy on the phone tells me it's more likely to be a solenoid or computer failure and that while not easy to source for my car, can be done easily and that he'll do a diagnostic that week.

Came in to get that and was told by the nice lady at the desk it shouldn't take more than an hour and they'll call me to pickup my car soon.

Over 3 hours pass and I call them asking how it was going, rude guy who I think runs it tells me quote
"Diagnostics take a long time and you're just going to have to wait, accept that" then he hung up on me

Another 3 hours go by (so 6 total) and I call with the intention to just take my car back diagnosed or not, they tell me it's been sitting waiting for hours, I don't know why they never called.

Next he gets angry with me, he asked why I told him it was a solenoid when it was clearly a slipping gear, dumbfounded I respond that no I had said it was a slipping gear and he told me otherwise. I don't even know what a solenoid is.

I go to collect my car and leave, he quotes me $1980 for a rebuild and I say I'll think about it.

When I got home I checked my dashcam footage, all they did was plug in an OBD and see the engine error code, then pop the hood for a good 2 minutes and park it in the corner, an hour before I first called to ask how it was going.
Huge waste of time and all they did was tell me something I already knew.

Reluctantly I called other repair places who all quoted me roughly $4000 for the same job, my own mechanic recommended J Pringle because they do good work but also acknowledged their awful customer service and sketchy track record when the job isn't done right.

In the end I simply sold my car for chump change as I'd rather rear end a Lamborghini without insurance than give money to this guy.

Paid $1500 to get my gearbox 'fixed'. One year later it was broken again, they tried to blame me saying I hadn't told them what to do the first time. I am not a gear box mechanic so I have no clue other than 'fix my gearbox please'. I assumed when they opened it they would see what was wrong and fix it without me telling them what to do. Was told to do it again would be $3000 this time.

Cannot thank the guys at Pringle automotive enough.got my ford fg up and running again in the day.after towing the car in with no drive

My transmission needed reconditioning. They carried out the repair but created additional problems. Drive shaft was leaking oil and my transmission mount needed replacing as the car was making a new creaking noise. Just not good enough. This set me back and additional $720.

Very rude people can't believe they get any business talking to customers the way they do and to top that this is the second time my car has gone back because it wasn't fixed correctly the first time, thumps down from me
