Joomak reviews
58 The food at Joomak was really good. The dishes are really comforting. The atmosphere was really cosy. It’s located underground so it’s hard to get Internet or reception. We had the army stew and fried chicken and we also had the Korean pancakes. The Korean fried chicken was so crispy and so tender. The servings are very generous. I ended up taking leftovers home and heating it up the next day, and it was still delicious. I would want to come here again.
The food comes out timely, so perfect when you're starving for dinner. Conveniently located close to RMIT, public transport and Melbourne central.
Even though this spot is hidden, it definitely can get busy. The seafood pancake was so delicious as it came out fresh and the cheese egg roll had roe in it, which made it so tasty! We also really enjoyed the mango makgeolli. Each table/booth had a button which you can press if you need help from the staff which was convenient. Would be a good spot for date night or with a group of friends!
I'm in love with the vibrant atmosphere and delicious food at this Korean restaurant and bar. It's the perfect place to gather with friends and savor the rich, authentic flavors of Korea.
Food is really good, tried many dishes and they all taste great. Would recommend the peach rice wine cocktail, tried all the different flavours of it and peach is the best.
Interior design looks really cool too
Chicken is always right, and Joomak proves it! Each bite is juicy, tender, and packed with deliciousness. Joomak is a definite winner for chicken lovers
A waiter wearing glasses has a very bad service attitude. Just because we asked once where can we seat after waiting for ten minutes, he said you asked so many time, just get out. Unbelievable
Always a good spot for good k-food in the city! Remember to always call up or make a booking before heading there as it can get real busy
Bit hard to look for the restaurant. The setting of the table and seat is not good. The chair is too far from the table.
Literally a hidden gem as it is located in the basement. The food was great, but I highly recommend to have the Korean rice wine (makgeolli)!
Do not recommend the tofu soup. Super bland. Taste like diluted instant noodle soup with few slabs of tofu. Totally an insult to Korean food T. T kimchi pancake, bulgogi, cheese egg with fish roe was good. Kimchi soup was disappointing too. Ox tail soup tasted diluted and worst than a packet instant noodle.
The fried chicken is absolutely terrible, only 7 piece's for $15, not to mention the seafood tofu soup with terrible quality ingredients, the Mussels are tiny and clearly the frozen type, the size of peanuts, and the broth is tasteless. Please get new chefs. Two stars is for the interior.
It's my first time going to Joomak and I didn't really expect much BUT they're probably one of the best korean restaurants here at Melbourne. Food was great, the serving was plentiful and the customer service was amazing! I almost left my water bottle in the restaurant but one of the staff chased after me on the streets to give it back to me! Highly recommend and I for sure will be coming back.
Known for their night time Korean share plates and drinks, Joomak’s truly a hidden gem of Melbourne and is located in a secluded basement with dim lighting and private booths. Although we found the rice wine a bit too sweet, their overall food tasted great and were priced reasonably.
Food here is amazing and the rice wine is so good. Went thier with my partner and thier friend, the vibes were amazing and made it easy for everyone to chill out and get to know each other. It is very crowded though, so I recommend booking in advance. Another not is I highly recommend you request a booth if you're tall, as the open area seating was rather small for me.
Perfect atmosphere with enclosed booths allows for privacy and ease of hearing. The perfect, intimate setting. They also take card now.
Make sure to book ahead if you want a seat! But definately one of the best restaurants for korean food! Very well priced and they serve delicious food! And great service too! Book early if you want your own booth! Note: they don't take amex
The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Food and drinks was great too but the services need to be more training so that can be one of the perfect restaurant in the CBD. The lady who serve us seem like not happy to us at all. Just put the food and left the table.
One of my fav korean restaurants though its sooooo difficult to find and to get a table unfortunately its worth to rush to grab a table at this restaurant.the food's always good.
Authentic and good quality Korean food! Great vibes downstairs and great service! 5/5 stars, I’ll definitely be back!
Musty and dark setting, the seats with broken scratchy fabric. Do not recommend the pork kimchi silken tofu soup, watered down and flavourless.the kimchi pancake and beef bulgogi tasted decent. Did not touch the water jug as it looked filthy and unwashed. All 4 of us who ate here left feeling horribly ill and had to beeline to toilets. A tumultuous painful experience.
