A great catch up with friends. It's years since I've been and it was as good as ever.

Lovely place been a few times but disappointed with dinner last night. Two of us ordered steak asked for it to be cooked well done and 1 medium but both came out medium. Didn’t bother with that but I was more disappointed with the amount of fat and gristle on steak than anything else could not even cut through it to eat very tough and chewy not pleasant at all.
For the price of the meal very disappointing. Left most of it on the plate except for chips and salad

Went to the bar connected to the restaurant, food was unfortunately flavourless (we had the charcuterie) but atmosphere was lovely.

The older man asked what we would like to drink. I asked for a merlot and he said 'we dont have merlot but we have shiraz and they are the same". I responded there are subtle differences and he said to the people I was with 'looks like shes the difficult one'. At the register I told the waiter I ordered dip and then paid. Later I realised I was charged for the $14.35 bottle of mineral water that wasn't mine. They refused to acknowledge any accountability even when I said I specifically told the staff what I had ordered. The response was 'Our staff are not trained/dedicated cashiers. Mis hearing and mis understanding are essentially human traits. ' Um no, you don't charge someone for something they didn't order. Especially randomly deciding to bill anyone because 'split bills can cause problems or because staff need to make sure anything that is purchased is paid for'. Yes, this is why we tell you what we ordered and after everyone has paid staff make an announcement that X hasn't been paid for and we then sort it out. This experience was creepy, underwhelming, unprofessional and unethical.

We went back last night for the first time in too long. It was busy but the service was attentive and good humoured. We had some wines and very satisfying snacks; we have some wines and some snacks and the cost was quite reasonable. Jimmy’s is still one of our favourite hangouts!

Great location, delicious food, friendly service.fast too (we had an hour til our 6.30pm movie started.

We popped in to Snack Monster for a bite to eat and a drink and we were not disappointed. Fantastic service to start with, Simon and Joe are so good at making you feel like family. The menu is good and the food is wholesome and exciting. We had Prawn sliders, meatballs (to die for) and the chicken liver. I was hesitant at first but was persuaded to try it and WOW couldn’t believe how tasty it was.
I can’t wait to get back and try all the other things on the menu. Bring on summer for the rooftop beer garden, it’s going to be re vamped ready for the summer and will be the first to take my drink “ on the roof” thank you very much.

Always a pleasure coming to Jimmy Watson's. Management and all staff are absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is great - definitely recommend the outside areas - whether it be streetfront, courtyard or rooftop. Food is delicious.

Great way to enjoy Lygon Street; time spent at Readings followed by the mandatory visit to Jimmy Watson's for nibbles and wine. Mmmmm. This is the view from our outdoor table.

The bartender made my husband use his PIN for a $28- purchase. The only reason I can think of for this is that my husband has brown skin. Will never go there again

Friendly staff with long term customers.this wine bar can boast 100 years and many customers have been regulars for a long long time. The wine and food are good as well Special is the Shri Lankan chef who really knows her stuff.an added dimension to an already excellent kitchen.

I had a great time here. Food was excellent, had the salmon pizza, it was covered in a very generous amount of beautiful smoked salmon. The service was very friendly and quick. The outdoor rooftop terrace is wonderful.

Fantastic food and a big shout out to Joe. He made our evening with his service and humour. Staff like Joe are gold and make the dining experience so enjoyable. We will definitely be back.

What a fantastic establishment. This family owned business could train how to welcome and serve up the best service.welcomed at the door seated.given advice on wines we had chosen.we ordered our entrees which came out allowing for a little time for our group to settle in.then a break perfectly timed for our mains. Food was great.hot and tasty.we thoughly enjoyed our day which ended in the cocktail bar.highly recommended this place

Institution of a wine bar on Lygon Street with a long history of great wine, food, atmosphere and service. Enjoyed the antipasto, osso bucco and creme brûlée with muscat. On the pricier end of the market but a nice special occasion place

I hosted a wine dinner here last week in the upstairs ‘Thin Red Line’ space, and everything from the event coordination through to the execution of service and food on the night was sensational. The staff were very accomodating of all requests and the food was delicious and great value for what we paid per head (plenty of it too)! The floor staff on the night Seb, Lucinda and Byron all did a fantastic job with their excellent service skills and friendly demeanours. The function space was really cool too! Needless to say the guests all left very happy. Thanks for a great night team!

Rip off, overcharged for drinks that where not ordered. Seem a bit desperate if they are charging $12 for sparkling table water then bring another soda water when you say you are fine with the soda water (that is in the bottle and that you are charging $12 for).

The most reliable, wonderful and friendly service I have ever had. The staff checked on us throughout the night with amazing consistency, and were friendly and warm. We chatted to them lots and they made the night wonderful.
The food was also really tasty!
