Jade Kingdom reviews
63Hands-down best Malaysian and Chinese in the area, and I'd dare say in Melbourne. Jade Kingdom is a local institution. I'm so excited for its reopening.
Great food. Great service. Gluten aware! It's a must! But closed until 2024. Where do I get my Laksa?
Came to try this out cause of the high rating. Food was not terrible but gave me no reason to come back. Similar quality to the $10 takeaway Chinese stalls you see at shopping malls. All dishes were too salty, my friend and I both drank 1 L of water after dinner. I enjoyed the tea most out of the whole dinnerIts a shame cause the reviews were really promising.
Best Malaysian food in Heidelberg. The staffs are very efficient and polite, and often go above and beyond for customers.
ORDERED:
? Fried Won Ton (10 pieces) : $8.00

Har Mee: Spicy prawn based soup with yellow noodles, roast pork, prawns, kangkong, bean shoots and a hard-boiled egg ($14.80)

REVIEW:
For some quick and affordable food, Jade Kingdom isn't a bad option.
There were some disappointing things I'd like to remember for next time.if I were to come back. Namely:
1. Fried wonton sauce came out.pretty much when we finished our wontons. Really ill-timed.
2. The rice in the Nasi Goreng was too soft/moist. It's missing that dry-ness when it comes to fried rice where it can hold its structure.
3. Hokkien Mee with mixed noodles (egg and vermicelli) was not it. Save the dollar and stick with the original egg noodles.
4. Food in general steered towards the salty side.
Would rate the banana fritter though! Really hard to get this wrong, but it was great on a hot spring day.
Being told we cannot give you a table when the place was at 1/3 capacity? ! Poor service! 2 thumbs down. Eat next door at Mr Chu’s! At least you get served.
Macleod institution for great Malaysian food
This place has been here for more then 20 years
Enjoyable food IN my opinion, I did notice some ingredients in the seafood laksa were cold but the placewas busy when we arrived. The only issue I really have is the waitress hovers around and drags the crockery out from under you before your finished eating.
It really takes the joy out of the meal when that happens.
Excellent family outing tonight. Food was excellent as always. Kids love going there also as they know the kids names.
Been going there for 20 years, genuine Malaysian Chinese food. Great for, to eat in or take away. Very popular with all the Asian students at nearby Latrobe Uni. If eating in, booking is essential.
Delicious food, timely service and good value for money.
Took a chance and tried this Asian restaurant based on the great reviews. To our delight, the food was tasty, authentic and served on time.
We ordered the hainanese chicken and Hor fun. The serves were large and very filling.
Well done guys. Surely a place to visit when craving for authentic Malaysian hawker food.
We'll be back for more.
I'm amazed, really love this Malaysian restaurant I visited tonight. To be honest, the food is amazing! When I first went to this restaurant. It was something I became obsessed with. This night was beautiful they had the best seafood in the Melbourne area and it was amazing to find such authentic Malaysian dishes that I can enjoy.
Despite ordered and paid the night before for 5 dishes, stated to pick up at 1200, arrived at 1205 and advised the owner (she yelled out to the kitchen to notify them) I was there for an online order, I stood there for 30 mins to then realised they hadn't even started preparing my order! I was there for another 15 mins to finally have my order in the carton box randomly stacked. I can't even take photo for the food just because they were that bad.
Laksa Soup in the containers weren't even closed properly so soup was all over me the moment I walked outside. The fried kwai teo noodles was mushy and the laksa soup was tasteless. It was a disaster altogether that the kitchen staff were not paying attention with the owner at the front running around like a headless chicken.
Unsure if it was just a horrible day for them and myself, but my first visit is definitely my last visit that I would not recommend anyone to go there unless you have all day to wait for very average food.
The nasi lemak was served cold and the chicken was so undercooked I could see blood!
Maybe it was an off night because there’s so many good reviews here, but personally won’t be giving this restaurant another go.
1 star for the good food. No star for the attitude / service. Placed an online order for 8: 20pick up, got told food will be ready in 10 minutes but still not ready after waited for 20 minutes.
My apologies to the staff who would hopefully be disappointed with this review. I had read the previous reviews and to support the pre-covid age wanted to support our hospitality industry.our satay chicken order with the first bite had to spit out the gristle. The second bite identified that the skin was still on the chicken. Sorry but the meal was inedible and the staff did not not charge us when we sent it back. Our special fried rice was so gluggy I was embarrassed for the staff. I would think that not only is it responsible to provide honest feedback for the restaurant, but also to include the not so positive reviews so that future patrons can expect an honest meal based on the reviews available,
Best Malaysian cuisine - worth travelling half way around the world for. Don't let the modest dining room fool you, every dish is beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional flavours. Special mentions for the laksa and homemade silken tofu.
The food was ok, but staff seemed distracted. Service levels were not as good as they could be and meals did not arrive on time together.
Their KL hokkien mee is delicious and well worth the drive. Yong Tau Foo and Guinness Stout Ribs pretty good too, imho hard to go wrong with their signature dishes
We made a reservation for a family birthday dinner and when we arrived at the restaurant (05/03/2022), it was full and busy. Our reservation was overlooked and no table was ready. We were asked to wait until a table is cleared. Very disappointed with the reservation management, customer care and communication. Ended up returning home and ordered from another place through Uber.
