Izakaya Jiro reviews
45This is a fantastic little Japanese restaurant. All of the dishes we had were tasty and reasonably priced.
Came here just over a week ago on a Saturday night and the food was average. One of the waitresses was holding a plate that carried a sizzling dish and boiling soup dish because it was too hot to hold by itself. She spilt the soup all over me trying to go over my head. She apologised once and told me she'll be back to clean up the mess, but when she came back she handed me only ONE napkin and then walked away to continue waiting on other tables. I was not given any help what-so-ever and was left to quickly wipe off the hot soup down my clothes. I understand that this was an honest mistake but the dish was extremely hot and burnt my skin. And the fact that I was not offered help or even given more than one napkin to clean myself up just shows what kind of service they offer. We spent over $200 that night as I went with a group of us, and there was no compensation of discount or any of the sorts. It seemed like one apology was enough to justify their mistake.
The online reservation is lousy.
There's two type of eating style (all you can eat & sake bar) and when we arrived the restaurant we got nottify all you can eat was unavailable.
But webside shows that still available.
The sashimi was fresh, the udon texture was perfect & gyoza was fantastic. Will be back soon.
I have been to this place 4 times now to indulge in their wagyu beef buffet. For the price, the quality of the meat is fantastic (5 stars). The rules state that customers are allowed a 2 hour sitting, with a last order at 90 mins (which is reasonable). However, each time I have eaten here, they force us to make our last order at the 75 minute mark instead. So at the 75 minute mark, we were asked to order any last beef dishes and dessert (which is a variety of icecream desserts). Each time this happens, our icecream comes with our last order of rare meat. This means our icecream melts before we even get to eat it as we need to cook and finish off eating our last order of beef dishes. Going forward, I really hope this restuarant gives customers the full 90 minutes before requesting a last order to allow patrons time to eat their icecream (not melted!). If they are to set the rules for their customers, then they should follow it.
Tried the $68 Waygu BBQ buffet. Meats were fresh, size are super generous. They even ask us to order more. Staffs were very friendly and very prompt with orders.
Will try their $98 buffet next time for sure.
Not bad for a local Japanese Restaurant. It has all the foods you would expect with above average quality. Seats are limited and fill up quickly. The only downside is when we want to order a second bottle of the 1.6L sake they don't have them in stock. And all the alternatives are not chilli.
We had the buffet dinner which was fantastic.
The selection was very diverse and very good quality.
I think for $68pp it was very worth the price - will come again!
Had my birthday party here a while ago and service was great and very friendly. It was a lovely restaurant with nice ambience. The teishoku sets were very nice, I had the tofu set, the tofu was cooked well and the sauce was very flavourful, not too salty.
Came (7 people) in just before the kitchen closed and were happily accommodated by the staff. They even adjusted all the portions on our order to suit our odd number. Felt very authentically Japanese, even though they were speaking Mandarin in the kitchen. Bull tongue, takoyaki, sashimi platter, all just so delicious.
Absolutely amazing Japanese food in general, lovely Gyoza, nice sushi, great tempura, great teriyaki and absolutely divine Takoyaki. Their bento boxes wrap all of these up into an all round great meal.
Truly a fantastic place to dine, excellent food at fine prices and staff are attentive, well spoken and kind. Really felt just like being in Japan!
This restaurant used to be our favorite, but not any longer! Since they changed ownership, their service quality is dropping quickly.
We brought our friends for lunch last weekend, the staff was inpatient and rude, my friends said when they asked for water the staff gave them empty cups, food was okay not amazing as before, some classic dishes were also no longer serving. We won’t go back again.
Overpriced faux japanese. DO NOT bother coming here! Wagyu steak was so chewy I had to spit it out ($12 a plate of 7 thin slices). One shitake skewer cut into three ($3!) which was one skewer for the price (!). Edamame was microwaved and chewy / undercooked and hard to eat. Ordered two other dishes that never came. Never coming back. Don't waste your money where there is samurai and zen up the road
Enjoyed the authentic Japanese food - cold soba with tempura and eel on rice. The air conditioning was appreciated too as it was a very hot day.
Firstly, if you are going to use Zomato Gold there, just forget about it. They don't allow you to use the Zomato Gold on their Sashimi plate which means the Gold membership can only be used for those small dishes.
The food there is average, the service is terrible and I strongly doubt their Zomato score is fake. The staff I met was so unprofessional. She has a very rude attitude. She is so unpatient when introducing their special to me. Also, she speaks very bad English.
Overall, I don't recommand this place. There are so many good resturants nearby so just skip this place. Their Zomato score is very untrustable.
The lady who seems like the Manager was rushing us to eat our food.
Me and my partner were visiting here with our family friend which includes a toddler.
They are not very alert with taking orders and the food takes forever to reach your table.
Overpriced and overhyped.
Do not even try.
Authentic Japanese. Really nice quality for the price. Also think that it has a nice atmosphere, crockery, tea, etc. The restaurant doesn't seat too many people so it's never too noisy.
Had a great dinner!
The price is really worth it. They offer wagyu buffet worth 88$ but had an a la carte, as we wanted to taste the Mackarel.
Appetizer: Takoyaki - good
Mains: grilled Mackarel (the best!) Wagyu (melts in your mouth)
Steamed rice
Green tea
Will be back to try the buffet! Thanks a lot.
Keep it up!
Lovely atmosphere, service is super friendly and the food is great:) highly recommend the wagyu steak and sashimi!
