If you're looking to get a custom suit tailored then I'd say go for it cause it's actually pretty good if you're not in a rush to get it. However, if you are looking to buy your a suit for yourself or your groomsmen at Institchu, I'd say go somewhere else because it's going to be stressful and a waste of your time. We ordered our tux 3 months before the wedding, and it ended up arriving 9 weeks later, with 3 weeks to spare with the tux components ended up being all wrong. They offered it to get remade again in China but they couldn't guarantee that the tux was arrive on time.

The measurements to the suit was correct, but the components to the suit was incorrect. Everything that we wanted changed and customised remained as the default tux. There was no adjustable belt loops, no shiny shawl, no monogram on our tux and no hidden buttons on our shirt as requested. Everything but the measurements was just so wrong. We had Sam as our stylist and he was actually great, very informative and was honest to us about what he thought looked good or not. But because our order was in a group order, he had to pass it onto their store manager and that's when it went wrong.

Sam also placed a separate order for my brother and his suit turned out perfect.

We ended up requesting for a refund but they were not responsive or proactive when you try to call them and email them. Just tell you that they will get back with you and never do. So you end up calling them everyday until they actually do something about.

In the end, we ended up buying an off the rack tux, got it altered for the same price. And it looked the same as a customised tux as well.

I definitely would not recommend these guys. Yes, their price tag sounds great when you are in search for a wedding tux that is affordable but it's honestly not worth the stress if you are a few weeks out til your special day. Too many issues for a tux that can just be purchased else where.

They made my wedding suit and I loved it. Everyone was very helpful throughout the whole process, from picking fabric to adjustments.

I came in with an acquaintance for a wedding consultation and the service was impeccable and the staff that served was friendly, accomodating and super hospitable! Will be definitely coming back for future:)

Got a suit for my friend's wedding from Institchu and it was a great fit and journey. Couldn't ask for more better suit. Thanks to Liana for helping me with the process from the start until alterations

My husband got a suit as part of a wedding with institchu. The suit looked perfect on him. The girls there were really lovely and professional. Kudos to Liana and Caterina!

If I was writing this a few years ago it would have been 5 stars but I'm only here now to give a 1 star (if I could go lower I would, that's how bad this experience has been).

I sent email confirmation back to the showroom manager who had sent me a quote with prices. I advise to proceed and no response 9 days later and I call up the showroom to follow up and they say they'll get them to follow up with me. I have to wait another day until I finally get any response and am now told there is not enough lead in time.

The excuse I'm given is that the showroom manager was unwell. I understand that, however it amazes me that a business like Institchu has no processes in place to deal with an employee who cannot carry out their workload when they are unwell? I questioned if every other client this particular showroom manager had been dealing with would also have their orders cancelled because no one followed up.

If I didn't follow up myself I don't even think anyone would've bothered to contact me at all.

This is the first 1 star I've ever given for a review, just to let anyone else out there know this is the most negative I have ever written and it's unfortunate because I don't enjoy doing it but it's my truth.

There are plenty of other tailors out there, P. Johnson is another one I would recommend if you're looking for an alternative. Bit pricier but they have actual customer service.

InStitchu has a fantastic team on Lonsdale St, Melbourne. Sam and his amazing colleagues picked an amazing tuxedo set for our wedding and we were truly impressed by the final product after alteration. It fitted like a glove and felt ultra comfortable along with an ageless colour. Sam and his fellows even gave us great advice regarding tying bowtie, folding pocket square and shoe/socks choices.
We appreciate their patience, professionalism and passion in optimising tailored suits for customers.

Our wedding was in March 2022 and we were advised to have the guys suits measured up in December 2021 to ensure enough time to cover Christmas, New Year and Lunar New Year. We were measured up for a full suit and custom shirt. We were originally booked to come back early January for a fitting which was rescheduled to late January (staff did confirm we would have no issues for timing even with the rescheduling). None of the guys suit jackets fit correctly however they assured the groomsmen jackets could be altered here in Melbourne but the groom's jacket would need to be remade completely. 2.5 weeks later, we were told that there was no guarantee that the groom's suit would make it on time for our wedding in March. They kept making excuses such as Lunar New Year closure and because we came later in January as to why the jacket might not come in time; even though initially they assured the timing would be ok. In late February, the groomsmen all tried on their suits again and again, it still wasn't fitting correctly. One of the groomsmen's shirts wasn't even in Australia and they didn't even bother to inform us any earlier that it wouldn't even make it in time for the wedding. Terrible communication and customer service where no one took accountability. It ended in us refunding ALL the suits a week out from our wedding and having to purchase elsewhere. I would not recommend this shop to anyone who wants a suit in any timely fashion.

Arrived at Institchu a year before my wedding to see what the process would be and compare prices/service to other made to measure suit providers in Melbourne. Like others on here, was told to come back 13 weeks pre-wedding, to make sure the fit was right.

Due to scheduling issues and delays in pricing provided ended up getting measured 11 weeks pre-wedding. Was told this was still plenty of time, as I was only getting a suit for myself and not a whole grooms party.

Then was told 6 weeks later that there were possible delays due to COVID lockdowns in Shang Hai. And that they would get in touch when they knew more.

2 Weeks pass and no communication, I rang them up, highlighting that my wedding was in 4 weeks, and I needed to know if I needed to get another suit just in case. They said they would call me once they heard from the courier, and I highlighted that that could still be a week or two until they hear from them, and I needed to know soon in case I needed to buy off the rack and get alterations done.

After no communication for another week, I highlighted that I was paying to get another suit made, in Melbourne that was guaranteed for the wedding, as Institchu could no longer fulfil their guarantee. Institchu offered me 30% off my suit in compensation.

The other tailor turned out to be the same price for a much nicer suit that actually fitted.

My Institchu suit arrived in Melbourne two weeks before the wedding, I turned up for my fitting, and the waistcoat was a horrible shape, and did not sit right. I was told that as I wore it, it would relax into my shape, not helpful for a wedding day suit. (The stylist helping me could see it was wrong, but didn't know what to do, they went away to talk to a senior stylist in private and came back and said not to worry about it, not reassuring). The shirt is absolutely horrendous, it is seriously baggy, looks like it was made for someone way bigger than me, hangs off me like a sack.

The jacket and trousers were fine, and they have, made alteration to these to make them a good fit.

In the end,

Ended up calling them every few days, to chase on where things were, what appointments I needed to make, I just about got it 3 days pre-wedding. (Luckily I don't need this suit.)

Customer Service 6/10

The stylist was lovely, just not confident enough to be able to help, felt like it was their first few months in suit fitting. Not the premium service I was paying for, and much less confident than the sales assistant I dealt with at the start of the experience.

Suit 3/10

The Trousers and Jacket are fine, the waistcoat and shirt, will likely be thrown away relatively quickly.

The shipping delays were an opportunity for Institchu to show a dedication to good customer service and organization, but instead they seemed to have fallen apart at the seams.

Ordered a custom suit, shirt, and extra sports coat. Was informed that it would take 6x weeks to have ready for first fitting. 8x weeks later, I call to see where my order is and they explained because of Chinese New Year, it hasn't even begun production.

The customer service representative told me should would get back to me by close of business that day. 5x days later I had to ring up for an update and was given more excuses around length of fabric and Chinese delays.

1.5 weeks left before my Wedding and I have to get something made, in this time, which will no doubt not be made.

Maybe advertise you get your products made in China.

Incredibly poor service, and scamming me out of money. I made two orders with a suit and shirts with measurements directly from my own decently fitting suit, and noted that if measurements were to be adjusted that I'd rather they be too large than too small. I received my items and they were so tight it cut off circulation, and had no room for alteration. Frustrated, I requested a refund and was happy to return the items. I returned it all to Daniel at this store on 28/11/2021 and was told it would take a couple of weeks for the refund to come through. I was told there was no receipt for this, and so I was only able to take a photo of the Customer Refund Request form. A couple of weeks passed and I still hadn't received the refund. I have called multiple times since, been told that 'the refund is going through' and that I would have to wait. It has been 2 months, and I have still not been refunded my remaining $599.
I was not provided the service described, I have no items, and yet they have taken $599 from me.

I came to their Lonsdale showroom in August to be extra prepared for my wedding in February, I was told by one of their consultants that I was there too early as people fluctuate sizing and to come back at the end of November. I returned on November 27th (12 weeks before my wedding) as advised, had everyone measured, picked out what we wanted and paid for everything on the spot.collected my suits last Wednesday and instead of the beige linen suits I ordered, they made me dark grey checkered suits out of a polyester cotton blend.

I requested they remake my suits as they were incorrect and I was told "they won't be ready in time if we remake them" and to "go off the rack". I've been offered no compensation for the headache being caused, I had to push extremely hard for them to finally offer an "express" option.but they would rather get rid of me than try and help.their customer service line rings out and I've called over 60 times to try and speak to people getting promised I'll receive a call back and never getting one.

Unless you're prepared to do a lot of running around and chasing up, I would recommend you spend your money elsewhere

Poor quality and comically incorrect sizing. How does a "made to measure" suit not even have even similar measurements to what I provided? I was shocked when I checked the actual size of the pants and what I had listed on my profile COMPLETLEY OFF! I won't be waiting another 5 weeks for another poor quality suit.

My fiancé went in to the Lonsdale showroom for his and his groomsmen's wedding suits in November as they were told 12 weeks is required to place an order and to fix any mistakes. They were served by Sam who without their knowledge put in the COMPLETE wrong order - they ordered a sand/tan linen suit and a dark grey polyester suit was delivered. They admitted their mistakes and apologised but continued to tell us that they can’t guarantee that they will be able to have the correct suits remade in time despite their 12 week recommendation. We tried to have them fast tracked through the head office where we were bounced around from phone call to phone call (called their head office 60 times!). Constantly told that the National Retail Manager would call us who dodged our attempts to talk to him for a week. He instead told someone else to call us who couldn’t actually answer the questions that we had and had no authority to make things happen. Once he finally called us, he wouldn’t offer any sort of compensation or sympathy for the inconvenience and stress caused. He couldn’t even guarantee that they will be ready by the wedding and said “just go buy suits off the rack elsewhere”. This is outrageous for a company to not offer compensation or to rush an order after we had spent thousands of dollars when it was them that made such a large error.
We would not recommend using Institchu!

Fabulous service. I'm tall, and I've learned to live with sleeves being too short or the shirt ballooning around me so I get enough sleeve length. I thought a tailor-made shirt would be too expansive, but it's absolutely not and how excellent to have it fit just right!

If there's any suit place you're considering, should be only at Institchu Lonsdale and only provided by Tayler. GREAT HUMAN BEING, easy to talk to and will make you feel comfortable if it's your first time ordering a suit. It's not easy to just spend a large amount of money on a suit, but she'll measure you accurately and discuss with you how you want your fit to be.

My husband and I got our wedding suits from Institchu. The service was impeccable and Daniel who handled our interactions was kind, caring and detail orientated.

We are incredibly thankful for Institchu and for the quality of their products. It looked as if we had spent a fortune on our attire, when as a matter of fact they were better value than a lot of retailers out there - especially for the quality!
