Il Bacaro

The food was amazing. We already ordered other dishes but ended up ordering 2 of the Moreton bay bugs pasta and 2 of the cheesecake because it was so good. Will definitely be eating here again!

Delicious! Fresh and balanced flavours with a wide selection of wines. Very much appreciated Royal Miyagi Oysters and beef tartare. Thank you Cristian for taking care of us magnificently.

We had a wonderful dinner at Il Bacaro last night, the food was delicious, the cocktails were awesome, and the front of house service was top notch. Highly recommend.

Disappointed as it’s usually been so outstanding.
Took my family of 8, for a special treat- A favourite melbourne italian eatery for so many years-
Oysters were fresh. Calamari lightly fried but limp. Bug pasta was a treat.
But - Medium rare fillets were served dry and lukewarm.
Risotto turned out to be a strangely soupy glug.
Staff a lttle unhelpful, with a sarcastic attitude.
Maybe just a bad night? (hope so)

Food was nice very over priced.we where sat right infront of the door. Every time a group of people entered i froze. Not sure why you would place a table in this spot especially in winter. It made the experience uncomfortable and not enjoyable.

Terrible dining environment and customer service. Food are not tasty at all. The only thing good about the dinner was just the dessert. If you really want to try out this place I highly and only recommend the cheesecake.

What’s not to love. Wonderful service, amazing food and lovely ambiance. The spaghettini with moreton bay bug is a must as is the cheesecake.

Experienced some of the best Italian food I have ever had at Il Bacaro. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, the grilled cuttlefish was very soft and seasoned perfectly. The standouts though were the spaghettini and cheesecake. This pasta dish may be the best I’ve ever had. The Moreton Bay bugs were excellent, the spaghettini was cooked just right, the sauce was absolutely incredible and elevated the taste of the whole dish. The cheesecake was the best dessert I’ve had in a long time. The cheesecake itself was not overpowering but had a very rich taste, all the other ingredients complemented each other so well. I have never tasted anything like it before. If you are in Melbourne this restaurant is a must try.

Bit of a hidden gem in Melbourne. Had never heard of it before visiting with work colleagues. Amazing and authentic Italian dishes. Wine list is incredible and worth being guided through by the staff to match to meals. Will definitely be back

A small but one of Melbourne's great restaurants. II Bacaro has a wonderful menu that is truly worth exploring.

The staff are delightful and create a pleasant dining atmosphere.

As someone from far away. (outside Melbouren and Victoria) I would not hesitate to dine at II Bacaro on any visit to Melbourne.

My favourite Northern Italian restaurant in the southern hemisphere. Impeccable service to compliment.

Ordered a well done steak because I’m pregnant. I could see it was still pink when it came to our table. When I politely pointed out to the male waiter, he said it was well done however he still took it back to the kitchen. You could see his face was like ‘OMG fine I will do it’. Made me feel really bad as if I did something wrong. But hey, being pregnant is already hard enough and we don’t really deserve this kind of service especially for this price. The food wasn’t even worth it.

We went for lunch on a monday morning. I found this restaurant extremely delightful. We had a selection of entrees and main courses. Everything was high quality. Both service and the presentation of the dishes. Waiters were attentive and professional without being intrusive. Honestly it's not that easy to find even in Italy this level of cuisine. Absolutly highly recommended

Food was fine, but service was not.

Being ignored most of the evening and waiting for 30 minutes to get even a refill of water or for someone to come and take our orders.

This place never disappoints. I've been dining here for 20 years and the service is consistently excellent. This restaurant transports you back in time and stays true to authentic premium Italian food. Forget Crown and the hype of riverbank dining, this place is small and intimate providing an exceptional atmosphere. Congratulations to remaining true to your original standards. 5 stars all round.

Experience was fantastic. Service was friendly and helpful. Food was amazing although girlfriend had the risotto which was interesting but neither of us liked. The duck was slightly under cooked for my liking but the texture and taste omg.
Cheesecake was One of the best I've ever had.

On the pricy side for me but great as a treat.

Such a wonderful team of chef, waiters, and staff. They accommodated us very well, gave us a lot of attention during our meal. The manager looked after our party, and the wine selections were generous. Food was exceptional 4.5 stars due to only 1 choice of mocktail.

We discovered this cafe on our way somewhere else. Sensational menu well executed and excellent staff and service.
Best dining experience of the pandemic.

Just brilliant. Food was cooked to perfection and the flavours were an absolute delight. Extensive wine list focused on Italian regions. Highly recommend.
