Houhai Dumpling House reviews
29Best dumplings in Melbourne! Cheap and so delicious! Vegetarians must try the mushroom egg and onion dumplings, and the egg and chive dumplings!
A great place. Good quick service, friendly staff. Food is delicious, tasty and cooked fresh. I definitely would recommend.
Food was good. Good northern Chinese flavours. Dumplings some of the best I've tasted in Melbourne.
However, Service patchy. Hence one less star.
Perfect for a quick in and out meal.
This is a wonderful little place with everything tasting super fresh. The place has got a wonderful charm to it. Definitely going back here again!
Small restaurant with a family vibe, welcoming staff, the food is both affordable and very yummy, will definitely come back!
Love this place. My new fav dumpling restaurant. The food is really delicious. I’ve had eat in and takeaway. Will definitely be going back many times in the future.
I usually get a variety of different dumplings. All yum. I have also tried the bean curd which is quite nice. Worth a try.
What they lack in decor they make up in food and service.
Absolutely delicious dumplings. The vegetarian dumplings are the best I’ve ever had. Perfect dumplings in a perfect setting.
I’m not one for leaving negative reviews I usually say nothing unless it’s good but I just couldn’t let this one pass. It’s quite simply the most dreadful meal I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. The dumplings pan fried were burnt to a crisp absolutely inedible. How these were ever plated is a mystery. It should have been obvious they were ruined and needed to be remade. The sliced pork (shredded bacon) was simply awful the stink when the container was opened was enough. The diced chicken and chilli was close to being ok, we were so starving that we have it a good crack but even this was so salty we couldn’t get half way through. So now off down the street to find something to eat.
Walked past this place a few times of a morning and always wondered what the food would be like. I love dumplings and I am always on the look out for a new regular dumpling service.
So, today (after a late breakfast at Mixed Business) I popped in for a plate of Pork and Chinese Chives, panfried dumplings.
I am quite fussy about my dumplings, but these weren't bad. The dumpling wrapper was a bit thick for my liking, but they were still good.
It hasn't replaced my regular, but I will keep it in mind for when the dumpling need grabs me whilst in Clifton Hill.
