Didn't actually get my food. Waited an hour and decided to leave. Terrible waitress. Did not communicate cooking times or offer any alternatives. Super unprofessional. Basically took our order and then neglected us for the next hour. Wait staff should be informed of any delays and should know how to properly apologise to customers. Instead of the food coming all at once one person got their food after 20mins, the next at 40 minutes, and mine.well we already know I didn't eat. Food should arrive at the same time. But what was worse was watching the tables around us that ordered 20mins after us receiving plates and plates of dumplings. They got theirs so I don't understand why mine never came, even after I reminded the waitress 30mins in.
Table was also filthy.

Very disappointing the last time we visited. Saturday evening.
Although quite busy, in restaurant and take away (delivery) orders.
With only 1 person serving in restaurant, the priority was for kitchen and delivery orders only, and not for (many) customers at tables in the restaurant.
(There was no shortage of staff in kitchen.)
Ordering took ages, we were never asked for drinks, and food (finally) came out in dribs and drabs. With a table of 7.
And food wasn't that great either.
Please employ more wait staff or customers won't come back

I love this place so much - run by beautiful people, serving excellent simple delicious food. Top notch.

Great small place, dumplings are good but the greens are amazing, so good! This place is a nice small Chinese place to go with the family too. The place can be a bit cheap but doesn't need the good fancy stuff to be good.

Houhai Dumpling House is our old faithful dumpling house for 8+ years. Authentic, reliable and of course - delicious. We’ve tried dumplings the world over but keep coming back here, for a reason! (Pork with Chinese chives, beef with leek and onion).

Delicious I had ginger prawn pan fried dumplings, beef and broccoli pan fried dumplings and Chinese broccoli with minced garlic - honestly best experience ever! Ginger prawns were so good, big chunky prawns and the Chinese broccoli sauce was so flavourful. DELICIOUS

27 Oct 2022, our favourite dumpling house may be closed for a few months due to chef going overseas. See photo just uploaded. Great dumplings and good fresh noodle dishes. I had the Beijing noodles and prawn with ginger dumplings, pan fried. Good prices too. The food is tasty and the staff are pleasant. My favorite is the beef and carrot dumpling.

Raya was so amazing her service was beautiful and she should honestly get paid more because her service was so accommodating and sweet x thank you!

Terrible service, terrible timing. Ordered over the phone at 630pm was told 20 minute's ready, Still standing here waiting 735pm. I would never recommend coming Here for anything. You won't even get your food.

Has a strange smell and vibe. Had space tables but said they were full and only could eat outside.

Best dumplings in town! Amazing fried rice! And great vegan dumplings! Great service! It's our regular spot.

My first visit here tonight, friendly helpful service, 3 kinds of vegan dumplings, all delicious and amazing value.

I’m a big fan of dumplings, sometimes even make them myself. So trust me when I say that those are some really good dumplings!

Great Taste with reasonable price! I recommend to go earlier when the restaurant is quite empty, otherwise it will be full at night.

Really delicious home made dumplings at crazy prices. Also good fried rice and the noodles eggplant and salty pork goodness was excellent! Like.

We will be dining in as soon as we can. Makes me hungry when I walk past at night and it's dark and the bright lights draw me in like a moth. Cheers.

Dumplings might be nice but I just spent $20 on 8 whole steamed chicken wings coated in soy sause never going back I can buy a bottle of soy and 4kg of wings for that a woolies sly mofo's.

I’m very glad my first dumpling meal in Melbourne was here!? Absolutely delicious and the owner is very friendly.

This place is awesome! Charming decor, friendly service, and so affordable too – $8.50 for 10 dumplings! The mushroom & boc choy ones are amazing
