Houdinis Cafe e Cucina reviews
55Great service, Good food, very friendly staff. The highlight is definitely the atmosphere. This quaint Italian Restaurant in Diggers Rest is well worth the visit. Houdini's is named after the builder of the aircraft that performed the first powered flight in Australia in Diggers Rest on 18th March 1910.
Had lunch here, tried 3 of their mains. Disappointed due to the high reviews I have seen about this place. Pretty far off from good pizzas and pasta. Pricey as well.
Wow! The best Italian food I've eaten since visiting Italy. The spaghetti and meatballs was delicious!
Well worth the price with excellent service and amazing food.
Love this place the food is exceptional and all the staff are absolutely lovely would highly recommend
Every time we go here, the food is amazing, service is 100%. Thanks for another spectacular luncheon.
The food takes no time to come out and the taste, texture and variety in the meals are great, love the place
In love with this place’s pizza! The Gluten-free base is artisanal and super tasty. Pasta is nice too, with Gluten free options. I wish there was a broader choice of pizza’s toppings - something mild and classical such as Italian mushroom white pizza or caprichosa without anchovies would be awesome. It is also sad that there is no online booking, calling and ordering over phone can be problematic sometimes. Also it is only a pick up, no delivery options.
Always a warm welcome to a restaurant that feels a little like home. The food is excellent and the staff are amazing. Go and you won't be disappointed if you can get in.
Friendly staff nice atmosphere, however the lamb ragout was full of bones and small splinter bones hardly any meat I told the waitress she said she would tell the chef.
What can I say great service great atmosphere great wine list and great food no more lygon street for us this is the place
What do you call a magic cafe?
Houdini’s
Coffee is just as amazing as the staff are! Love the barista who served me and my brother today, and magical coffee too. I Will be coming back.
I left several messages for someone to call me back in regards to a birthday booking, apparently manager was going to call me but I never heard back. Disappointing service and unprofessional.
I didn't know that such a place existed such a short drive from Home. Food was great as was the service and drinks. Even when the electricity went out atmosphere was still great as was the staff. Am trying to get another booking.
I had pork loin Stuffed with 3 cheeses and spinach. OMG.
We booked last minute and sat outside. With the heaters on it was much better the the inside, which was extremely noisy. The service was attentive, friendly and professional. The food was only ok. The salumi platter was generous but uninteresting. (Why do they never give enougg bread?) It was something you might find in a supermarket. The chicken scallopini was like home-cooked food, and yummy. The carbonara was again generous and a little dull. I don't think we'll be racing back.
Our 3rd visit to this Restaurant with friends and again we had a great night.
The staff were very accommodating, courteous and Professional with our entree's and mains delivered too our table within quite reasonable time considering how busy they were and our food was just sensational.
A great night with great food at a great price again
THANKYOU HOUDINI'S and we will be back again.
A really lovely venue for a relaxed style of eating. Great menu.wonderful service and friendly staff that make you feel welcome. I liked the extra thought of having flowers outside to buy for mum on Mother's Day. The rustic decor makes the place like you are in the country. We will definetely recommend to friends and return ourselves.
Our go-to place when the Italian food cravings sets in! Generous portions of food that is of quality. Their home special Lemon tart is wayyy better than lemon tarts from other famous bakeries (not going to name). A variety of vegetarian options. Even their lemon lime bitters is better than other bars! Cozy restaurant. Amazing staffs on board.
Unexpected treasure at Diggers Rest. A superior Marguerite and cold Carlton stubby with an iced glass. Vastly more extensive menu was mouth watering. Well worth a visit
Have only been here once before a couple of years ago and let me tell you, they were amazing again, great service and even better food!
Solid flavoursome Italian food tick, smiling proprietor tick, decent list of Italian vino and beer tick. Everything you should have in a good local Italian eatery. Right next to a train track but not too noisy.
