This place is a vibe! The food was authentic, the margaritas were spot on and the service was incredible. Can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to go back.

Nice food!
Want to say thank you to the guy served us during lunch! I forgot my bag and he ran out to us to return it to me. Thanks!

Can't speak highly enough of this place - Jake & Lara were so friendly, informative & the best hosts! To top it off the food was some of the best Mexican that I have had in Melbourne. Very fresh, quick & great portions! Highly recommend!

We had a great meal!

The "volcan" (pork meat over fried cheese) was as good as in Mexico, but what I loved the most was the lamb barbacoa and the mole (eventhough we normally have it with chicken). Our churros couldn't miss for dessert!

I only wish I could've had suadero or pastor tacos. Maybe next time!

The portions are really small, so overall it becomes a bit too pricey for what you get - but the banquet option is pretty reasonable. Make sure you do try the fish taco - its the best!

Absolutely incredible. As an American who has been searching high and low for decent, authentic Mexican food in Australia for the past 3 years, let me be the first to say that this place FAR exceeded all of my expectations. I swear I have tried every Mexican joint in Victoria, none of them even come close to touching Hotel Jesus. Incredible Molé, fish tacos, and horchata. Amazing atmosphere that made me extremely nostalgic. Incredible staff. Really reasonable prices for the quality of food and drink. Very pleasantly surprised.

VIBES VIBES VIBES! A group of us recently dined here and we were so well looked after. The staff were so fun and made the effort to be on our level with banter and letting the good times roll with all their food and drink suggestions (perhaps a few tequila shots were involved - they knew what we needed!). Yes the interior is EPIC and the food is EPIC but it was the staff who totally made our experience. Special shout out to Tom who truly went above and beyond. We cannot wait to come back. Thank you HJ!

Not sure if it's a post-COVID change, but menu is a bit limited compared to what it used to be. Main portions are substantial though you pretty much always want to order extra tortillas or corn chips - perhaps by design. Love the decor. Service was good. Timely food.

Beautiful tacos, friendly staff, they squished us in on a Saturday night with no booking, it was great

Surprisingly very good. The tacos were very good, the margarita was great and the service from one of the female employees (wish I remembered her name) was particularly good. I rated them 4/5 stars due to one of the male staff members being rude.

Went for a bottomless brunch, the service was extremely slow, it took about 15 minutes to get out a round of mimosa at bottomless brunch and we were unable to order our next drink until we finished our current one. We were also told it's really difficult for them to make lots of magheritas because they don't have a magherita machine, however when you go through the kitchen to go to the toilet you can see the magherita machine sitting their full. Would not recommend for a bottomless brunch.

Used to be fantastic, but they've chopped the menu down to save streamline their operations and have lost their glory in the process. Winning with location and going off reputation still, but I'd rather go to the Little Hop on Brunswick St.

The vibe was good, the fish tacos very good, chicken wings good, the rest was ok, but the chicken flauta was pretty poor - chicken was dry and it had no taste - was the main dish and was all pretty expensive for what we got. Wouldn’t return.

Tried to book Mamasita's which was booked out and they suggested Hotel Jesus. It was my husband's birthday and he likes Mexican food, especially a chicken dish like Portuguese Chicken. We ordered the Feed Me package and the waitress said the chicken was marinated. The entrees were large, like a bean dish and corn kernels plus corn chips. Probably to fill you up. The chicken was grilled and not marinated. It and the accompanying vegetables were cold. My husband complained all night saying how bad the food was. It was very disappointing.

Guau! Beautiful place full of smiles and authenticity. The decor is PERFECT, service is LOVELY (we have been treated especially well by Nat and Miguel!), food is insanely good- especially the flan! A beautiful little taste of Mexico in Melbourne.

A mixed experience overall. On the upside, the atmosphere is great and staff were friendly. The food was a bit blah, especially for the price, I would not recommend the flautas. However, the churros were good.

Absolutely love this place amazing food and great staff, one of the best Mexican restaurants in Melbourne, and located along the iconic Smith Street. Great for both couples dates and groups

I’m Mexican and I felt at home since I arrived at this place. The venue looks like a Mexican local
Market restaurant and the tacos are AMAZING! Try the lengua taco! Also, the service was amazing!
