Really good seafood Mexican. Flavour is very authentic.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find some carnitas tacos which was a little bit off brand but those are by far the BEST carnitas in all of Melbourne.

I think me and my mates ate the entire Carnitas available that night cause we wanted more but they were sadly out of it.

Can't wait to go back and try some more Carnitas or some tasty fish tacos.

I lived next door to this place and it never disappoints! Bottomless lunch is for sure the best on Smith St - I could eat tacos and sink micheladas all afternoon!

Amazing place, just like being in any traditional Mexican torteria, but also with great tacos and service. Drinks variety for any taste, margaritas a must have. If you are after REAL Mexican food, this place is highly recommended.

I love this place even more now that they've brought back the lamb barbacoa tacos.

Please don't ever take the fish tacos off the menu, they are my new favourite and chef's kiss.

I think some of their proportion sizes have shrunken since we used to go here, the elotes in particular seem smaller.

Some of the best Mexican in the country. Good selection of Mezcal and Tequila and related cocktails. Small list of wines and local craft.

What a strange place.
Clunky online ordering system but the main observation was their inflexibility. The tacos came in pairs. There seemed to be three different types. Tried to order one of each but "we don't do that".

The tacos were really small, like really small. 10cm diameter tortillas, I'd say. Whatever the flat thing was, I'm sure the cheese was supposed to be melted but the whole thing was just crunchy.

I'm not conceited enough to claim that the Mexican I've had many times, in every decade since the 80s is authentic and this is the imposter, but if you've had Mexican literally anywhere else and enjoyed it you probably won't enjoy this.

Food was ok, selection of margaritas was very extensive however so if you do like margs then this is the place for you.
Table was extremely small and cramped, plus chairs are plastic and hard so not a place to sit for long. Interior is very cool though

Amazing, service, good vibes, food was spectacular. Fresh, plenty of option for all tastes and drinks were top tier and well priced. I might have to self exclude, it was so good I’m going to get fat now

Pastor tacos were delicious, tacos in general here are really good, but small. I also recommend pibil volcan and pastor volcan.

I love love the tacos (reminds me of my trip to Mexico) and tostadas at this beautiful place and so happy the Al Pastor taco is back and just as delicious as before! Customer service, delicious food and all the feel good vibes, I took my friend visiting from Interstate and she was blown away. Gracias Hotel Jesus!

It is a nice place and the staff that serves was very good, for the food we were not very satisfied, the horchata was a bit sweet, and the food is not too bad.

Thought this place was super overhyped. The fit out is very cool but this was not tasty Mexican food. The menu was more authentic than most but the flavours weren't there. We had the carnitas pork tacos which lacked flavour all round and the chicken skin tacos which were lukewarm and stale. The fried cheese tacos were nice and something new.

One star for the look of the hotel. Okay, I have a question, what was in the mayonnaise to have made it black? And all the food that came out smelt like fish. Very small menu to choose from when dining in as we weren’t told that’s there was a proper menu online. X Erin is an awesome waitress, go Erin!

I've always loved the food here, and the Cinco de Mayo specials did not disappoint. 5* on the food. Unfortunately our experience was marred by the service. I have to wonder whether Hotel Jesus has come out the other side of COVID a bit lop-sided in terms of staffing and relying on the MrYum app for ordering (which we found slow and annoying to use). I'm not opposed to the concept of these apps, which are great in some contexts like pubs, but for this type of food we preferred to speak to staff for guidance around portioning. We were directed at first to order from the app (we chose to wait for staff) and I could see why; there were just three floor staff for over 60pax on a Wednesday night, and they appeared harried and blind to efforts to get their attention. We wanted another round of drinks after tacos and never got the chance to ask for one, which surprised me given the margins represented. Hopefully the staff/app balance is shifted for future visits.

Other than a few of the options being a bit pricey for the serving size, we absolutely loved our dinner here! The food is delicious and really fun - more flavours than you typically get at a "Mexican" restaurant in Australia. Fantastic wait staff too!

An absolute must for Mexican food lovers! Grab and seat on the windowsills outside, order margs and guac, and watch Smith Street go by. The staff are switched on and attentive and super knowledgable about their menu and delivering and fantastic experience. Highly recommend for a date night or a fun group outing.

Drinks were great, however the food was average. The servers were also very pushy for us to give up our table. Unlikely to go again.

I absolutely love this place, from the moment you walk through the doors you feel as if you've been whisked off to some hidden gem in the heart of Mexico City.

The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, each time I go there I ask the server what they'd recommend and it's always different so you know they're being honest.

The feed me options are great if you can't decide or want to try a bit of everything (make sure you're hungry though, because it's a generous serve)

My personal recommendations for food are the prawn tostadas, the fish tacos and my absolute favourite are the chicken skin tacos. And my cocktail of choice is the Mezcal Margarita, if you're after a beer then you can't go past a Tecate Michelada.

The authenticity of the food and the venue draws you in and the knowledge and friendliness of the staff invite you back again. A definite place to try next time you're in Collingwood.

Little bit of a disappointing review.
There was 7 of us dining and we were forced to only have the banquet option which, wasn’t really much food and bit average to be honest.

The drinks took 30 minutes to arrive (including just a glass of wine.) each time we ordered, that we were trying to be strategic for our next serve.
Being told there’s only one person on the bar isn’t really acceptable to tell patrons, maybe next time your staff can give a better response or maybe put additional people on for a busy Friday night.
