We, by chance, happened to drop into Hotel Brighton on $25 Steak night and it was pumping.
Unfortunately the steaks were really tough and the, so-called, steak knives not sharp or functional which didn't help the situation.
The mussels however were great and really flavoursome.

Smart dining area and friendly service. Unfortunately, our leisurely lunch became a rushed affair when our main courses were delivered to the table before we had finished our starter. Not the way we had planned it and certainly not the way it should happen …. They were not even busy!
Hotel Brighton is a great spot to come. Great atmosphere and bartender Erin is amazing! She really looked after us
I’m sure that I’ve been served off chicken.
I ordered a chicken schnitzel and thought it tasted and strange from the first bite, although I did keep eating it because I thought maybe it’s something that they put on it under the crumb. Nope. Chicken had gone off; confirmed by another person at my table who agreed that it smelled awful. Sent it back to the kitchen, and they did not take responsibility although I was offered something else which I did not accept.
Hopefully I don’t get sick and if I do, I will update this review.
The chicken Parma that my friend ordered did not have the same problem.
This place has such potential. Great beers on tap and wines by the glass. Food offering decent too. It is such a shame they will let hi-vis & work boot wearing idiots in with their disgraceful attitudes and childish behaviour.
Came to watch the footy on Saturday night and there was a group of hi-vis blokes, covered in dirt and workwear who all looked like they had just come from the build site in the TAB part of the pub. Bouncer did absolutely nothing but sit on a stool. These guys got so drunk they began whistling obnoxiously (deafeningly so) and yelling at the top of their lungs, we all had to move away/to other parts of the pub. 90% of patrons having a good time and dressed as they should be and behaving well. Tell these guys to go home, have a shower and maybe drop the absolute ‘alpha male’ attitude at the door and you might have better patronage!
Goodness what a SHOCKING meal! Expensive and terrible food and terrible service. Had to even ask for water twice, asked for salad twice never came! Do not even mention my friend’s ‘version’ of gravy maybe dish water mixed with spice from my other friends meal.
Had my 21st here in the empire room organised by the wonderful Samantha and it was amazing. Staff were incredible; the management, the girls working the bar, the security guards… everyone was amazing. Best night ever! Food was delish too.
We had our son’s 21st party at The Empire Room last Saturday and wanted to say that from the planning stages with Events manager Sam to the night itself it was the most amazing experience! Nothing was too difficult.
A special mention to Kia and all the staff, including bar, wait staff, kitchen and security who were excellent and on point throughout the night. Everything was seamless, plentiful and so enjoyable!
Sam we cannot thank you enough and have already recommended yourself and The Empire Room to everyone we know!
Drinks before movie were good. Dinner after was a very different experience. Went to the dining room and the staff member seemed uninterested in finding us a table. Group of 5 so were seated at a table for 4. Had to pinch a glass from empty table and ask for cutlery. Menus arrived a little while later, drink orders a bit longer. Wines arrived, beer about 4 minutes later. Managed to attract the attention so we could order. Parma, ok (top end of price for a basic pub with very average chips). Barramundi, good. Fish and chips, ok, guest couldn’t have a salad ingredient so just no salad on plate, maybe the staff could have asked if some vegetables could replace the salad. The grilled chicken tikka was underwhelming at best ($32) avoid unless you like expensive entrees. Chicken schnitzel was good but what is with the spicy orange gravy!? It was a spicy sauce. When questioned the staff member said it was definitely the gravy and others have mentioned it. Don’t call it gravy, would have ordered the mushroom sauce instead. Disappointing considering how quiet it was.
We had a booking for lunch for a large group of people organised by very nice member of our club (about 40 people). This place was a huge let down. We waited 2 hours plus for our meal and when it came it was well below average at inflated pricing. Very disappointed. Not coming back.
Mexican Parma. Was overcooked. Poor salad. Hardly any jalapeños corn chips layered with toppings. Salami wasn’t hot.
Linguine lacked seasoning and pasta undercooked

Charging top prices for poor quality food. What a pity, this used to be a top spot for lunch/dinner, not any more! Don’t waste your money here.
Nothing worth mentioning, typical pub food, poor quality, pre made, and just warmed off for serving, had the Mexican Parma, soggy natchos, served with a few fries and a very sad salad.where is the passion for food? No service as you to order at the bar. Sat outside, tables not cleaned, all area not a pretty site.
Work function lunch food was very good veggie risotto was lovely sticky date pudding was delicious
Only issue was waiting over an hr for our main meals luckily the garlic bread generous portions kept us going. Service was very friendly but slow.
This is the third time I have been to this place and it is absolutely amazing, food is the size to fit a king and don't get me started on their beautiful design drinks.
Staff members are really lovely shouting out to Darcy and jack for serving us was amazing time.

The service is only matched by the food. The chicken schnitzel was gross and when I told the child serving me he didn’t even respond just looked blankly into the distance and walked off
Went to have a counter meal with work colleagues, ordered our meals, over an hour later we’re told our meals were put at the end of the queue because we had garlic bread come out before our meals.
We ended up having to leave without eating as we had to go back to work.
I have been coming to HB since it first opened. And the food has always been good. However the last 2 times, I have been to steak night, the salad was literally a bunch of mixed lettuce leaves straight from a mixed leaf coles bag, not another vegetable in sight. Very disappointing for salad lovers like myself.
I had dinner there with my dad and sister, myself and my dad ordered parmas and my sister ordered the pork belly.the pork was delicious and so were the parmas but after dad already eating almost all his parma and me eating 1/2 of mine, we noticed they were both undercooked.we let the manager Darcy know and he handled the situation perfectly.he was so nice and apologetic and took the parmas off the bill - which wasn’t even the reason we complained.after our chat, he kindly ended up waving the entire bill and i can honestly say, ive never had such an impressive response to a complaint. Darcy deserves a raise because he is a legend and even if we do end up with food poisoning, we will 100% be back because the food and service is always amazing there! Thank you again to Darcy for honestly the best service we’ve ever received.
Very nice, friendly and welcoming staff in the restaurant. Makes the whole experience really good.
The only improvement would be to serve lunch for longer hours.
