Hot Star Large Fried Chicken reviews
28 Sooo worth THE WAIT
LOVED IT sooo cheap and soo good. But the chips were soooo salty. Chicken was AMAZIN tho
Very disappointed.would give Zero if i can Soggy oily and tasteless, nothing compare to 7 years ago.
Never disappoints. Huge Asian chicken schnitzel. Super tasty, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside!
The chicken breast tastes juicy with crispy skin, never tried this before and that was a good experience. However I was surprised that there is only one staff in charge of everything, so the waiting time was quite unpleasant. Hopefully they'll optimize it in the future.
I got a fried chicken here around 6. Unfortunately, the food is undercooked.after eating i felt stomachache terribly. I took unfinished chicken back to their store to deal with the drama, but it’s closed. I need an apology!
Don’t go there except u wanna a diarrhea!
ORDERED:
Hot Star Chicken with chicken salt, chili and seaweed ($10.50)
REVIEW:
With insane amounts of customisation, Hot Star Chicken is so good, so oily but so bad for your health.
You can choose to salt your chicken (up to a maximum of 3 items) : pepper salt, chicken salt, cajun, chili, cheese, seaweed or no flavour.
With the spicy level, you can choose less spicy, more spicy, less seasoning or more seasonings or even both sides for no extra cost.
As a base, Hot Star only season one size of your chicken which I found more than enough flavour. You also get little compressed bones at the bottom, but that's a refreshing change after working through the fried batter and the juicy tender chicken meat.
It's a great uni-fast food meal that gets you full. It's in a convenient location and even better with a gong cha to wash it down (usually the restaurant next door).
The chicken pops and cajun fries were a religious experience.i literally couldn't focus for the next week because i kept thinking about the bloody chicken
I love hotstar large fried chicken, I usually order cheese and cajun flavor. But this time, I tried the chicken salt flavor just to try. It is too much salty.too much. I know its chicken salt flavor but all I can taste in a bite is salt.this comment is for improvement purpose. I still love my chicken in cheese.
The worst fried chicken ever, meat is not fresh at all! It stinks
And the service attitude is very bad too.
Used to eat every time come down to city, but not going to buy anymore.
The salt and pepper squids were excellent
I also really liked the chicken until I found this HUGE annoying bone that make this snack not very easy to eat outside
Unfortunately this bone was ridiculously oversized.would be perfect without
I ordered the Hotstar chicken and mushroom. Buy any 2 items and you can get a drink for $1 for the combo. Be prepared to wait as the food is cooked fresh to order. The chicken was very flavourful and juicy especially with chicken salt seasoning. The mushroom was really crunchy too. The service was really friendly as it was my first time and I was confused and the female staff member helped me with the ordering process. The food also has to be eaten straight away or it will get soggy. The wait during the lunch rush can be quite long as there is only 1 staff member juggling frying, ordering and seasoning, so if you want your food fast in under 5 minutes I wouldnt recommend coming here as there are a ton of fast food places nearby. Overall a good experience and I would return just for the chicken but maybe not for the other food items as it's quite expensive and you only get a small amount.
Hot Star kept us full over covid and now! We love their chicken and fries. Easy service, great set up and its quick! Worth a try and make sure you take a pic.or it didn’t happen #supportlocal anyway you can!

Hot Star Fried Chicken is a great Taiwanese street food vendor in the heart of Melbourne. They sell fried chicken, fried mushrooms and even fried squid!
Their signature item is the large fried chicken. It’s huge, the size of my head and sells for just $9. The meat is so juicy and tender. You can choose from 6 salt flavours – (Salt and Pepper, Chicken Salt, Chilli, Cajun, Plum & Cumin.)
I also got a serve of fried mushrooms. These were so succulent, with a great crunchy batter.
I’ve been visiting this stall for years. It’s fast, cheap and delicious.
A must-visit for Melbourne’s fried chicken lovers.
The food that you can see getting cooked right in front of your eyes, is the best type of food that you can trust on gorging on blindly and without any guilt. Hotstar chicken is a gem of Melbourne, the one best food that you can't miss it when you're in this city.
The chicken is truly as big as the size of your head, and definitely it's pretty huge for one person alone. Theor menu offers many different types of chicken and sweet potatoes treats, but their star of the menu is the original hotstar chicken, the large fried chicken, that the courteous and friendly staff will prepare for you right in front of your eyes. Oh that sound of chicken being fried in hot oil is so relaxing as well as tempting enough to wait for it, and bite into that hot oozy fried giant chicken topped with your favorite type of salt either chicken or chilli or salt n pepper or cajun. My all time favorite type of salt is chilli, which adds a little spice to that giant fried chicken making it so yummilicious.
And the cost of it won't burn a whole into your pocket, just 9 bucks and and your dinner/lunch is readily available and that too so scrumptious.
This giant fried chicken from hotstar is one of a kind and is hard to find anywhere in the city. Moreover, the chicken is prepared in a hygienic way, so that means, there's not a chance to feel sick to eat this amazing fried chicken unlike KFC.
The end result of the fried chicken is that the chicken is soft, tender, juicy yet the right amount of crunch on the outside, it's hard not to fall for this delectable giant fried chicken. Cooked to perfection and whenever I walk past their stores, it satiates my taste bud, thus making me drool. Trust me, hotstar will definitely make you addicted to it but in the good way. Foodies of Melbourne and new tourists to this city, hotstar is definitely a great meal option for you.
Big piece of chicken but took a long time. No way close to what the original in Taiwan is like. The dole actually smells a bit funny and overall taste pretty flavorless. Didn’t enjoy it at all and costs $9 which is pretty overpriced for what you get. Won’t be buying this ever again.
I got the cajun hot star, good value although the bottom 1/5th was mostly bone/cartilage and inedible. It is a fair wait for your order but worth it as they fry to order.
I haven't actually had the chicken but he mushrooms and squid legs are delicious! I highly recommend it for a quick tasty snack.
The staff are a bit disinterested but hey I guess you don't go there for the customer service.
Great value crispy chicken with Cajun seasoning and spicy Squid! Must Try
One of the staffs work alone in the morning and too crowded but she’s still super friendly and fast.
Oh my god. That’s my favorite crispy chicken. Chicken salt bring the amazing taste. One big chicken+one milk tea are perfect combo.
Love love love love love Hotstar chicken! It's the best. Even though it definitely tastes better in Taiwan:).
