Absolutely love the team at High st music. Jay and Joel are fabulous teachers. I learnt the drums as a kid, but never really practiced enough. Now as an adult realising how much fun it is to play again. Big thanks to Jay and his encouragement.

I recently had my steel string acoustic restrung with nylon strings, and I have to say that I was impressed with the service I received. Peter, the owner, took on the job and explained everything to me in detail, which was helpful as I'm a musician and not a guitar tech. What impressed me the most was the quick same-day turnaround, which was important as I had a gig coming up and needed time for the new strings to settle.

It’s five stars from me for their excellent service. Peter was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating, and I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for guitar-related services. Thanks, Peter!

Today, Friday 30th December I came to the shop with a Sigma Acoustic Parlor Guitar, has some issue such as: string action is too high, tuning stability, intonation problem, and the guitar lost it's resonance. Peter agreed to take a look and it was done for only 1.5 hours, fastest turn around for restring and set up so far in Melbourne. My guitar comes back to life and even has that added sustain and harmonic overtone on top. Service was super affordable too according to what I get. Will comeback for sure!

Got my first electric guitar today and Peter was very genuine and insightful and explained everything in a good and simple way. Would come back here again.

Man, all I wanted to do was to try out some guitars. An employee of the store kept trying to usher me to buy something, and seemed quite rude. Nice guitar shop, though.

I wrote a very nice review 2 years ago.
Unfortunately I had the worst guitar service ever in 2021.
My guitar had the neck bent over!
And I paid more than $100.

I won't say it's the worst place, but I won't leave my guitars there for any reasons anymore.
I was so disappointed that I wanted to report it to the owner.
I preferred to go to another Luthier which asked me if I service my own guitar. He assumed so because it was "the worst job that he has ever fixed".

I won't give less than 3 stars because it's been nice to chat to the owner few times and exchange ideas about the music industry.

I hope your guitar tech will work with the same standards also for someone with an accent like mine next time.

Friendly staff. Provide service and lessons. A lot of guitars for sale, but only a few other instruments. Good for strings, tuners, ATC. Also has some sheet music.

Very knowledgeable staff when I was inquiring about my violin and how to replace strings and get started. Very quick and friendly service!

Tom and Peter offer a+ service going out of their way to check leads for the electric instruments identifying faults and offering repairs in a fast professional timely manner. New players, this is the place to go. I went in and was totally honest about my lack of experience and unsure about the second hand guitar I'd bought. Peter could have tried to upsell me, but instead he refurbished the guitar I'd brought in and gave me all sorts of encouragement and advice. It was a really great experience and even though I travelled from the Macedon Ranges (passing through), I can't even imagine going anywhere else when I finally do decide to upgrade. Thanks Peter!

I’ve Been to Thom and Peter for few years also done work experience with them, when I was in high school. I can say they are the best music shop in High Street Preston. They are kind professional and welcoming and do great services on my instruments. I brought two Cole Clark guitars Fat lady 2 and a small full body Cole clark angel 1 in 2021.
