Hepburn General Store reviews
32 More than $15 for a blue Powerade and a single loaf of bread! I was so shocked I just tapped my card instead of say no!
I am all for supporting the local economy but that is outrageous. Price gouging people is not helping the town.
A fantastic little store! We bought coffee, rolls and slices a few times while staying up the road for a few days, and everything was so tasty!
The coffee here is amazing. I also had one of their Turkish rolls with Chicken and “sticky onion” - best lunch ever. The store is also really interesting to visit and the staff are friendly. Definitely check it out.
Had 2 milkshakes, a pie and brekkie roll, everything was absolutely delicious, and for a good price. Glad we read the reviews and came here instead of the cafes. Would be even better if they used plates and glasses for dining in, though.
A charming and quaint store with everything plus boutique gifts and nick backs in store. Good ol’ fashioned sausage rolls, pies and treats and banging on point coffees!
We were a little unsure about getting coffee from general stores - they can be hit & miss - but this place has great coffee! Busy from 730am with locals coming and going, plus plenty of regulars from the staff knowing most of the people coming through door.
Breakfast was delish! Every ingredient was locally sourced from the bread, to the relish to the bacon - husband loved the breaky sandwich. Fair priced too for a large sandwhich / roll.
Staff are super friendly & welcoming, bringing your order out to you.
Highly recommend
Plus - they sell lots of local produce. You can also buy your "general" general store items if you need milk, bread, eggs, snacks. Cant wait to try the ice cream!
A little bit disappointed. My partner and I have been a customer for a long time. We used to love the salad rolls but purchased a couple today and they just weren’t very enjoyable. They might have been a day or 2 old, the lettuce soggy and rolls hard. The last time we purchased them the quality was a lot poorer than previous. I hope providing fresh food is a priority for the future as my partner and I would love to support local business.
Excellent coffee and the loveliest staff! We went here every morning for coffee and it was consistently excellent! Also, a very cute shop to explore while you wait for your order.
Been a loyal customer for years, have bought salad rolls here religiously but the last couple of times have been very disappointed with the quality of the rolls. Fillings were lacking and bread rolls not fresh! Also they put the price up to $10.50 which seems steep for a salad roll. I hope this review will encourage the owners to address this issue so I can enjoy my rolls once again.
What a beautiful little store! Everything you need plus some exceptional homeware.
Some general feedback for management:
We went in over a couple of days during a stay in Hepburn Springs. The first few days there was a young girl and a guy working in the store. The energy was great, they made you feel extremely welcome and at ease. The young girl was super helpful and kind and very patient with my mother-in-law. However one day we went in and there was an older woman in there with dark hair. The mood in the shop was instantly more tense as she was flapping and seemed super stressy. She was snapping at customers but what I wanted to bring up is the way she spoke to her colleague (the young girl). I have seen this often in retail where older/potentially more senior staff treat the younger staff with little respect. She was snapping at the young girl about who the orders were for as there were no names on the dockets. I understand this might have been an error but the young girl knew who they were for and it made me feel uncomfortable being in the store with her rude attitude. A little kindness goes a long way. I think management need to have a word with this older lady (I sincerely hope that she is not management as she would need to have a firm word with herself).
Other than the uncomfortable tension this woman created, every other time we visited the store it was a beautiful experience. Hats off to the young girl for doing an excellent job.
Without a doubt the best lemon slice I’ve ever had. Good amount of lemon rind and a healthy amount of icing makes this a delicious and not too sickly sweet treat. Highly recommended!
A nice little store with lots of options! Cake and desserts are to die for! Caramel slice and walnut brownie are award worthy!
Went there to get coffees after reading some of the reviews. Unfortunately they only have take away cups (even for dine in) but the ladies were happy to pour my coffee into my reusable cup. I had a mocha which was nice, my partner had a latte which was too bitter to drink and ended up binning it and getting another coffee in Daylesford.
Cute little store, was much nicer than we had expected. We got a sandwich and a wrap, along with some essentials, the staff were very nice too! We will be going back tomorrow!
Love this place - Kate and the ladies are just fantastic. Coffee, cake, sandwiches - always the best.
I duck out here from Daylesford just for the coffee, it's worth the drive. They make a great almond cap and my partner says great full cream cap. We have had the chicken salad, ham salad and salami and salad rolls on different ocassions and they have been SO GOOD.
Looks like some really great produce and supplies. I wanted to like it but perhaps I caught it on a bad day. Coffee not too good, served in a takeaway cup - weak and frothy. And I was refused a glass of water and told to buy one, which is actually illegal for a licensed on-site venue. Disappointing.
The perfect place to stop for an egg and bacon breakfast wrap and coffee on a trip out to regional Victoria. I can tell the locals love the place.
Nice small range of goods. The home baked cake was really good (carrot cake, big portion!), but the soy coffee really wasn’t good.
Fantastic location with great service and delicious rolls and pies. Great little stop off for a simple lunch, with good seating out the front.
