I got a 6-month contract job through Hays in July 2020, when the unemployment rate was at a historical low. The whole process took 1.5 weeks, from initial contact to signing the contract. The recruiter I worked with has been professional, efficient and friendly throughout, and he checks in with both the employer and me every other week. My experience with Hays has been very positive, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Due to the lockdown in Melbourne, there were some delays in getting me placed in the role I had been put forward for, but Krisztina was extremely responsive and kept in touch, was always honest about the situation and gave me realistic timelines. A great agency for temporary contracting work in accounting and finance. They seem to have access to many roles that are simply not advertised anywhere.

It feels like Hays listen and understand my requirements, filter out any unsuitable roles and only call me about roles that are a good fit for me and the client. This very thorough "pre-selection" and quality control process is a huge time-saver for both candidates and clients.

My first point of contact is always my local Hays office (St Kilda Rd) and specifically Cameron Joyce, who is an expert in temporary finance recruitment. Most of the time, Cameron and his colleagues are able to find me assignments located within a few kilometres of home.

But, if they have no local roles for me at a given time, they will contact other Hays offices around metropolitan Melbourne and try to find me something suitable within commuting distance. Over the last 10 years, I have completed 10 assignments spread across 3 different Hays offices, after registering with Cameron at Hays St Kilda Rd, so their inter-office referral system definitely works.

Once an assignment has been offered and accepted, the set-up process is simple and transparently communicated. Online timesheets are set up promptly and are very easy to use (and easy for the client to approve), which ensures that I always get paid on time.

Overall, I have found Hays to be a very trustworthy and reliable source of temporary contracting work.

I went there once, there was one guy and all the rest of the office was empty. He sent me away telling me that they are specialized in office works only.

I was promised carpenters on 2 different occasions from this company, and even told somebody would be on site on these days. Nobody turned up and nobody answered the phone when I had given them over a weeks notice. Do not recommend this company, very unreliable.
