Lovely relaxing gardens. Staff were so lovely and helpful. I've been here a few times and have always been made to feel welcome.

Owner worked tirelessly over the weekend to ensure our stay was pleasant. Great garden setting.

Easily the best food we have had in a dining experience. From entree to dessert it was mouthwatering. Our room and ensuite was beautiful. Great attention to detail. All through our stay we were taken care of with everything we needed. We will definitely stay again.

What a gem of a find. Gorgeous historic building, with lots of out door covered spaces and lush gardens offering nooks to contemplate the world! Rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated in old world charm. Breakfast was yummy homemade granola and condiments with a nice latte to accompany.

We came to celebrate a special family birthday lunch on Sunday! We had the dinning room to ourselves and it was great. Lovely soft music playing in the background. Food and service was wonderful as always. The kids loved the chicken and Vanilla Creme Brulee!

We had a lovely evening in the Terrace Room and dinner. Would highly recommend for a quiet getaway with country charm

Enjoyed a superb meal the highlight was the Jus rich and flavorsome and went well with both the eye fillet and chicken.
Overall couldn't fault anything the decor the service and most importantly the food all above our expectations.

Drove up from Melbourne to have lunch with family and it was well worth the trip! The food was delicious, the staff was really friendly and the building/decor was just gorgeous! Will definitely be coming back again.

Side note: in regards to a recent one star review - I was one of the customers that witnessed this interaction. The owner couldn't have been more friendly and polite. It was disgusting to see the way these customers spoke and such a strange overreaction to a gentle request for the kids to move their toys away from what looked like a very expensive crystal cabinet. We also had a child with our group and had no issues monitoring her around the beautiful decor, it's just basic decency and respect for someone else's property. The owner was clearly rattled by the interaction which was such a shame because she was a lovely woman. I'm sorry you and your staff have to put up with that kind of behaviour!

Perfect Country Weekender

We escaped Melbourne for a two night weekender, staying in the room “Farmhouse”.

Historic and lovingly renovated, Harvest Home oozes charm and aims high with genuine, welcoming hospitality.

Our room was very comfortable, (we both had the best sleeps in months)! The dining room a gorgeous place to leisurely eat and chat. The balcony perfect to take in the view, trains and have a couple of wines.

We left on Sunday after another hearty breakfast feeling like we’d had a week long holiday.

Highly recommend.

TIP: If heading back to Melbourne, don’t rush. Take a long way through the country. Stunning drive home on a perfect day via Seymour, Whiteheads Creek, Highlands, Yea, Flowerdale.

Oh boy, what a venue!
I have been here a few times and the staff are amazing to deal with, the scenery is always at an immaculate standard, and the food is absolutely mouth watering!
I’m very keen to do more weddings here:)

Food was ok (overpriced standard pub food) but the service was so abysmal it hardly mattered. Waited over an hour before we politely asked if they could at least serve the drinks we ordered while we wait for our food. 90 minutes after ordering, entrees and mains were served at the same time although the side of fries was forgotten…. Instead we got them with our desert. No-one bothered to communicate what had happened or give us the opportunity to cancel or amend our order. Even settling the bill was an issue, as their system required us to pay in two seperate transactions for some reason. Throughout our time there we were good sports about everything, but the owner’s lack of concern indicated this may be a common occurrence. Left Harvest home feeling robbed. They just want your money and don’t care about your dining experience.

I feel the food could have been better. In there defence they had a function on out the back. I think they were overwhelmed. We will try again and see what happens.

Eclectic rooms in a historic building. Wonderful wide verandah for drinks. Comfortable beds. Overlander bathroom suited to more agile guests as shower in elevated bath. Great reception and service on Friday night particularly. Great 2 course meal Friday night in the lovely garden. Thank you

We used Harvest Home to get ready for our wedding. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, happy to bring up food and drinks to the room we used to get ready. A number of our wedding guests also spent the weekend at Harvest Home and commented on how amazing the complimentary breakfast was and how beautiful the rooms were. Close to everything in Avenel and a perfect place for a weekend away.

The perfect combination of fine food, historic setting and wonderful service. My family thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Harvest Home. It is a credit to the operators to offer such a high quality lunch in a quiet tucked away town like Avenel. Well worth a stop over on any road trip along the Hume Freeway.

Christmas in July was a wonderful occasion. Our room was charming and comfortable with a grand en suite. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and the open fires provided warmth and ambience. The staff were friendly and attentive. Harvest Home is a gem and we can't wait to go back.

Harvest Home is a stunning cafe that serves delicious food with excellent customer service. My partner and I rave about this cafe to absolutely everyone. We look forward to brunch in the sun in the stunning courtyard. Delicious food always served with a smile - what more could you ask for?
