Hares & Hyenas reviews
40Lovely bookshop with a great range of queer literature. There really is anything you could want, ranging from cute graphic novels to contemporary literature to queer politics and philosophy.
This place was worth the walk from Richmond to St. Kilda (beautiful walk btw). I loved it. I loved the building it was part of and I loved feeling 'seen'. Truly a wonderful selection of everything queer. I was in heaven! Only 4 stars because most of it is not alphabetised, but I totally get why. Wonderful place and the person at the counter was friendly too:)
Beautiful space in Vic Pride Centre. Amazing bookshop had a great chat with Roland. Friendly and cheerful service.
Hares & Hyenas: Use be Located in Collingwood. Now Located in St. Kilda. LGBTIQ+ Books, Comics and Digital Video Disks available to purchase. Staff are engaging and friendly. Coffee is also Available. Book Store has Guest Speaker usually authors.
Interesting story of why this name for a bookshop in an LGBTI centre. Bit NSFW so not described here.

This shop is an absolute must visit for the LGBTQIA+ community of Melbourne. You'll find a book here for everyone
Hidden within the awesome Pride Centre is a small bookshop with a good range of books, cards, pins, flags.
I loved the fact that I was able to be me. I hope to go back again one day soon when I'm back in Melbourne. The people were such the nicest people.
This bookshop has always played a vitally important role in Melbourne's LGBTIQA+ scene, and I'm glad to see in continuing in its new venue. I do miss the old and careworn (but friendly) venue in Fitzroy (which was also closer to where I live), and the current space seems like a bit of an afterthought. You couldn't squeeze too many people into it! They've yet to shelve all the books. That being said, the people know their stock very well, and can advise you on books with a calm and complete knowledge. I do hope that it finds a final home in a proper space in The Pride Centre; really it should be one of the Centre's drawcards, and have an appropriately large and lounge-y space - with couches, comfy chairs, and plenty of space for browsing. But whether that happens or not, it's still a great bookshop, and run by some of the most expert people in the business.
A great lil bookshop definitely worth an hour or three of shopping between its shelves for great books to add to your library to enhance your wisdom.
Check out their online store for prompt delivery.
Always a great range of books, and friendly customer service.one of my favourite independent bookstores!
My books "Jolie" are for sale in this shop. Please buy it!
I never felt like a queer icon until I played in a gig here.
My song "Am I Bi? " is on Spotify too. I remember people clapping their hands while I sang this song.
A Melbourne institution providing a beautiful space to the queer community including live shows, markets and of course books and gifts.
Very cute and cosy, staff are friendly and helpful, range of books: incredible. Also make sure you check out their Facebook - they have amazing events on all the time! My favourite book shop in Melbourne.

Bookstore by day, queer bookshop by day. I went to Hares and Hyenas for poetry event; Rapid Fire. Probably one of the finest readings I've been to in a while. Pop in for a coffee. Peruse the extensive selection of queer literature. You'll be welcome either way. Bravo
Love this place! Amazing selections! Amazing staff! Just wonderful! Would 110% recommend to locals and tourists!
A safe inclusive environment to browse the books in peace and quiet. Hot tip: check out the mural in the bathroom!
Great vibe. Every dish had an amazing new ingredient to try. Friendly staff and fantastic atmosphere. I'm so glad I took my friend's suggestion and went along. We ordered 3 dishes that complimented each other perfectly (I'm sure the menu is designed that way). Every dish prepared with care and a perfect blend of amazing yet uniquely different flavours. You certainly don't need to be vegan to totally love the food here. An incredible chef with an inventive palate of ideas.
