Grenache Wine Bar

Great little restaurant/bar in Cowes. Staff were very knowledgeable about all the gins and wines they had on offer. Service was efficient and friendly and didn't feel rushed even though we had a time limit due to our last minute booking on a Saturday evening. Well done on a wonderful little local establishment that didn't cost the earth.

Took a while to wait for the food. But the quality of the dish is great. The flavor doesn’t suit my taste buds, because I’m a Asian and I like heavy flavor. But the food is actually cook really well and deserve a 5 star

Ordered the meat platter, heirloom veg salad, eggplant chips & it was all fresh and delicious down to the pea sprouts and dill and other abundance of fresh herb garnishes. I was super impressed with the interior detail down to the handbag hooks.
Additionally, they had trivia night (Tuesday). Fun indeed:)

Amazing food, very tasty and sophisticated dishes. The staff, super friendly and kind gave us very good devices on food and wine. The atmosphere was nice and we really enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended

There are many restaurants in Cowes & we couldn't decide where to eat, so glad we opted for Grenache. The food, atmosphere, staff and wine were all great.
The staff/owners made us feel very welcome, we were a walk in on a Friday and got a table (luckily, as it soon filled up). Seems like a lot of locals use it which is always a good sign. Left there happy and feeling we had a great meal and fantastic service and value for money.
Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The staff were unnecessarily rude and arrogant as if they didn’t need/want you there because they were busy. Left us feeling incredibly disappointed after what would have been a lovely night with friends. We won’t be back.

The food and drinks are delicious. There's a comfortable outdoor space and some cosy indoor seating. The staff are warm and helpful.

They know how to take reservations, they just don't know how to hold reservations. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.

Authentic wine bar, with dark, cellar like decor. Friendly people with an amazing range of drinks.

Well where do we start. Absolutely the best food, best gin and most importantly, the best service. We were met with patience and hospitality from Shelly's dad to the awesome staff that just made the night. We have found a place that should be kept a secret but needs to to be shared

Utterly dissappointed with this place.
My friend and I were in Cowes for the weekend and we wanted to dine here.
We didn't have a reservation so we just walked in. We could see over 5 tables empty and the waiter was seating a couple who was in front of us and we heard them ask for a table without a reservation. This got our hopes up.
We then asked for a table for two and were told 'let me check', the waiter walked off, talked to a lady behind the bar, who looked up at us, gave us a strange, unwelcoming look. Then the waiter came back and said 'we have capacity limits due to COVID-19'. This is NOT the case since capacity limits were removed for hospitality settings a few days prior to when we went.
He then said "I'll ask" which didn't make sense because he technically had already gone to 'ask'.
He came back and said 'no we cannot take any more people in tonight because of capacity limits'.
We were dissappointed but understood because we didn't have a reservation so we walked out but decided to hover for a bit. Low and behold, a group of 4 people, who were standing behind us asked him for a table for 4 WITHOUT a reservation and he let them in.
We were polite and well dressed so it did not make sense why we would be refused a table.
Needless to say, all these positive reviews and beautiful photos of their food had us super keen to try this wine bar but the poor, selective service of the place was an absolute disgrace.
I'm disgusted and beyond offended by the way we were treated for NO apparent reason.
There are plenty of small businesses to give your money to, so save your time and go elsewhere if you don't want to take your chances and try your luck for a table based off their waiter's mood and one second judgement of you.

Great food, excellent atmosphere, wonderful staff. A genuine gem in Cowes and that’s saying a lot as there are some great places to eat and drink there.

Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. All staff were really friendly and efficient. The gin was amazing and the sparkling Shiraz was from a local vineyard (Purple Hen). Would definitely recommend

The staff were so lovely especially Shelly who helped my partner celebrate my birthday with a candle on our deserts as a surprise. The food was delicious.probably by far best pork ribs I’ve had. We were lucky enough to get a dinner reservation on New Year’s Eve even though they’re so busy! Thankyou so much for having us.

The food was amazing, drinks were even better and we were given a comprehensive run down of the different gins. The steaks were a real winner as was the chilli chocolate cake!

Awesome! There are many features in Philip island, but this is one you can't afford to miss! Had a family dinner here with kids, the in laws and a puppy (I'll let you decide who was most challenging to manage) and the staff, food and atmosphere was spot on! Had the vegan chicken with blackbean and corn fritters - delicious! That said, I really wanted to try the other meals ordered by the family as they all looked fantastic! Will be back, for sure!

Amazing service and food, Alan is an absolute legend, would have paid 300 for the experience however was barely over 100, and we drank a lot. Beautiful people, beautiful place.
