Gopi Ka Chatka ST Kilda reviews
27Had been looking for masala poori south indian style - the one we get in Street chats in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore suburbs, had same taste in GKC. Ordered Bhel, pani poori, tawa pulov, samosas too, all were fantastic. The overall ambience was good.
I dont know how they have reached to 4.2 rating on reviews. Worst food and worst handling by the staff. Literally thought I am going to get food poisoning. They say they source spices from india directly, not anywhere close to indian taste.
They were quiet on a Friday night and still t
ook so long to just give masala/jeera soda
Very good food and best quality with enough quantity.
Must try once,
Thank you
I ordered from DoorDash I only receive 2 small frozen samosa small that was not good I recommend to people don’t waste your money
I am regular customer of GKC ever since they started food truck on intersection of hotham st and princess highway.
Quality of food is degrading when they started expansion. Amitbhai please improve quality of food at GKC Stkilda.
From last 6 month every time i visit restaurant i get different taste of same dishes. Please train your staff well.
Sorry for negative review but please bring back quality to your food
The food was just OK. Had papdi chaat, pani puri and pau bhaji. Didn't really feel the fullness of flavours. It felt basic with just spicy hotness. The tea was really good though.
Might return to try something else and give it a 2nd chance.
Great Place and Open till Late. We had some take-out at 11PM on Sunday night and food was great. We can taste the original Indian Chaat (Street food) flavors in Dabeli and VadaPav. Nice buttery grilled Sandwich. Good packaging that we were able to each on the go. Friendly Staff and couple who runs the place. You can also order in advance and they do catering too.
A good place for snacks and fast food options. Some of the dishes were a little too hot for us. Service was fast.
Lovely people and cute little restaurant
A particular masala mix they use that makes lot of dishes taste all the same.
Gopi Ka Chatka is my go to place for south Indian chats like masala puri, sev puri, Pani puri. They make very good omlettes too. The decent ambience and good service.
Got to know about this restaurant when they had a food truck at one of the events in Docklands.
Though I feel it bit expensive for the quantity served, would love to go for my chat cravings.
Ordered from uber eats but due to bad weather, expected delivery time was continuously increasing and shop was going to close soon so I called the restaurant and the guy talked with me very patiently and addressed my concern and try to resolve it. Don't tasted a food yet, of course it cold but it's not restaurant fault. Thank you for your great customer service.
While the food was good and generally is.the service at best was horrible.
From when we entered at 7: 00pm (start of dinner time) the one server that they had was just running around, slamming the door between the dining area and kitchen (atleast 20 times, really loudly) and just being chaotic.
We were asked to order online and even put in notes online, only for him to open the door and scream the orders out. So didn’t really understand why we couldn’t just tell him the one change we wanted.
He forgot to give us a chutney we ordered as a side with the Pav bhaji and when after it was over we told him to just cancel it since it wasn’t there yet he got annoyed and angrily told us “why didn’t you ask for it. “.: -s when my husband told him off for this he yelled at him and told him he’s being aggressive, when my husband only asked why would we have to ask, there was nothing else we we could’ve eaten the chutney with, and the error was clearly on their end. He said “it goes with many things, you should’ve told me. ”
What was the point of ordering online and adding notes online too then?
We still had a pani puri left which we then asked for, (cause we were told to “ask for” food we ordered previously) but It seemed as if out of anger it was covered in black pepper to a point with it was inedible and we left it after having just one. Please see the photo attached below to understand what I mean.
Overall the constant noise and chaos created by ONE server was more than over 10- 12 customers present in the restaurant.
Apart from the inedible pani puri the rest of the food was great but the experience just sad.
Gopi ka chatka your service needs a jhatka.
Street food is okay… not great. I’ve tried this place about 6 times and can’t say that any one dish is amazing. The menu is very tough to understand if you haven’t eaten Indian street food before. It’s hard to know what’s going to be on your plate. Even if you do know the base meal, you might ask the staff about the variations of it, to which the will not give any understandable answer. The staff have always been pretty rude and inattentive.
Not happy with the service and the food quality. Masala tea was way too sweet (even though we didn’t order any sugar), the staff was so arrogant to even acknowledge it and said that they serve it as per “Indian” standards. The chef came out and was really rude. So if you are diabetic or prefer less sugar make sure to tell them NO SUGAR because they certainly don’t know how to make tea. It had more sugar and less of other ingredients.
Other items that we ordered were also not that great.
The customer service was terrible. Won’t be going back for sure.
The food was average and the environment was not welcoming. Will not go there next time and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Could be much better.
But there South special masala puri took me back to the streets of Bengaluru will definitely come back for that.
OMG the sev puri is out of this world but at Clayton. Honestly, I feel the food truck at Clayton is much better. I never miss an opportunity to go there when I am around Clayton.
Whatta taste…really good taste…excellent service…staff is really humble and polite…great customer service…please try their menu… u won’t regret
Disgusting food quality.after waiting for so long didnt get quality service.they ve got b brade in food safety inspection.dont waste your money.
Wonderful little place with an extensive chaat menu. The food tastes great, the staff are eager to please and the pricing is appropriate.
Updated in Jan 2022:
We came here twice after the new QR code based ordering system has been implemented. While the food and staff remain wonderful, the new system has impacted the experience.
The staff are unable to manually take orders when they allowed dining in. Customers are forced to order and pay from the QR code on the table.
Now, since they have switched to take away only, one has to order via the code on the door and wait outside the restaurant for 20 to 30 mins, collect the order and go home to eat it. Most chaat items can turn mushy by then.
Unfortunate example of how technology is impacting customer experience and an otherwise compelling proposition.
Very nice food. Had catering order from them. Really nice service, food was so delicious and perfect for kids as well as adults. Would definitely recommend.
