Gellibrand Cafe reviews
34 Nice day, nice decor decent coffee, but diasappointingly the staff were passive aggressive, and its clear we weren't really welcome. My partner and I went there 45 mins before the advertised closing time, and they were in the process of cleaning and shutting down the place. First of all, the staff were dismissive and packing up the shop - the cashier didn't say hi and walked off half way while we were ordering at the register. A man who seemed to be staff or a friend of the staff was blocking the hallway to the toilets with his arm and didn't move or acknowledge us when we said 'excuse me' to get past. And finally they put our coffees in takeaway cups without letting us know.
They did give us an extra slice of brownie for free, but it doesn't make up for the negative experience.
I go there every weekend, they have good pastries and coffee but today I went with a friend that ordered an apple cold pressed juice for $7.50 an it was the Coles one. It was very bad. Not only the quality of the juice but the fact that they haven't been honest! Molto male
First time to this cafe today, with husband and boy toddler. We were so impressed with the food and service. Meals prepared and presented beautifully. Wonderful, friendly service. And lovely atmosphere. Gem of a place.
Food was so yummy and beautifully presented (highly recommend the pulled brisket benny)! Staff were friendly and the coffee was good.
Nice cafe. Booking recommended
Gellibrand abroad is highly recommended.
Beautiful ambiance, service and food.
Good food decent coffee.
Having said that in Australia it should be mandatory now to declare if you are only using 100% Halal meat which they are.
As an Australian I do not want to promote Halal economy.
For $25 I expected a bit more from this Spanish Open Omelette, but I ate thinking I could have just made this at home and saved my money. Music was too loud, and there didnt appear to be any noise absorption features. On top of that, the juice drinks are whizzed up behind a barrier in the dining area, so I felt like it was noise upon noise.
Place looked nice though and the staff were friendly. Coffee was average. The menu had many options as well as dietary considerations. Dont see myself returning any time soon though.
Enjoyed everything at this cafe. Their coffee and food were really great. Their menu is one that you’ll want to eat through and that’s definitely what I’ll be doing!
A great place to have a chat in the suburb with your mates. I had 'the cheese', which is blackmore wagyu burger. It was nice though, but the coffee is the winner. Bit pricey for a proper meal, but everything is going up right. Just support your local small businesses. The staff there are lovely.
Huge assortment of food, all delicious. Coffee has been one of the best I've had in reservoir! Would definitely recommend!
Discovered this place about a week ago and I've already been here for breakfast about 3 or 4 times. Food, atmosphere and service has been sensational everytime. The workers are always so lovely. Can not fault this place whatsoever.
Love Love Love this cafe in Reservoir. Jacqui & Billy are the perfect hosts and the food and coffee is always amazing. Highly recommended!
A very nice little Cafe with great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The coffee was very smooth and and their fresh juice was delicious.
Great place to dine in the Northern Suburbs! Attentive friendly staff, and the food is very nice. We ordered the special pumpkin ravioli and the Gellibrand All board. Both dishes were a very decent portion.
The only reason for the 4 stars is that wait time was quite long - approximately 30min.
We will be back though
This is in my opinion the very best cafe in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, the food is always super-tasty and fresh, it's a perfect place to get a big breakfast on the weekend or any other day really. I definitely recommend asking about the specials, Chef always seems to have something awesome up his sleeves. I've actually eaten at another venue in the past run by the same people, the fabulous Gypsy Bar on Brunswick Street some years ago. It's a family owned and run business, the staff are all super-friendly and attentive, the food is A1 quality and really reasonably priced. If you live in Reservoir, Thomastown or anywhere else close by do yourself a favour and check it out.
With fear of this place becoming wildly popular, I HAVE to say, this was great. The look, the food, the friendly staff, the homely feel, the aroma, the sounds and the mood. They’ve got it down. Super impressed.
Thanks guys.
Some food came with burnt buns! The price is too high for the tiny little calamaris with hardly a whole small potato on it.
The service is fantastic. Beautiful people.
We had a lovely brunch here and absolutely enjoyed it. The table service was amazing and the food was beautiful.
The atmosphere was so pretty
5/5 couldn't recommend this place enough.
I’ll be honest, that was disappointing. For $62 (which included the 10% surcharge) you would think it would have been pretty good.
The positives: beautiful cafe, some of the staff were lovely and the batch brew was nice. Latte was okay.
The negatives: over $60 for the granola “special”, pancakes and two coffees. Pancakes came with the bowl literally swimming in a syrup. Incredibly sweet, almost like cough syrup. I had to ask for another plate so I could move the pancakes over (couldn’t eat half the fruit because it was drowned in the bowl of syrup). The fruit in both plates wasn’t cohesive, we had the exact same fruit? Including cherries with pip and stems…
They kept screaming to each other from one end of the cafe to the other? Bizarre and not very nice to be next to.
No one asked how the meal was otherwise I would have said something.
Amazing breakfast couldn't fault thing also coffee's and fresh juice delicious great service
