Gelato Messina Fitzroy reviews
43Beautiful gelato and excellent customer service my favourite was the salted coconut mango will definitely be back
The ice-cream is delicious and they have a weird variety of toppings for the adventurers. I will definitely be going back again. So many different choices of great ice cream
Salted caramel with white choc is the all-time favourite here (with good reason) but it's worth trying the specials as some of the one-off concoctions are brilliant. Definitely worth travelling for.
Delicious, rich gelato. The salted caramel with white chocolate is creamy and balanced sweet and salty flavors quite well. I also enjoyed the Dr. Evil with its peanut butter chunks. Great service with friendly staff top it off.
Overrated and over sweet. Some flavours just doesn’t work. I actually don’t know what the big hype is all about. Relook at the recipes as you’ve gone way off the mark.
Amazing. Tried a few, got white choc hazelnut, my boyfriend also tried a few and got white choc salted caramel. Every taste and every bite was amazing, we loved it, very worth a visit.
Good selection of flavours. A Melbourne institution of sort. However I wish they cut down on sugar! It seems to be a sad theme of bakeries and ice creameries here. What is it with Melbourne? There is really no need to put that much sugar in sweets, I want to taste other flavours and not kill my taste buds with sugar only. Please.
Left without anything because apparently two workers can’t handle serving >5 people in 15 minutes. There are so many better places within walking distance that it’s not worth waiting for so long and dealing with rude staff.
On a busy summer’s night, the dim lighting, trendy House music and lack of queuing system makes it feel oddly like a night club as you elbow your way to the front to order your gelato. The huge range of delicious flavours, especially within the dairy free range (I’m lactose intolerant) always has me coming back time and time again.
Great place to stop by after dinner for a great selection of gelato. We enjoyed the pandan coconut, panna cotta with fig jam and cookies and cream all of which did not disappoint. The only thing that was a bit off was that the seating area had a bunch of windey couches where everyone sat back to back and it was so dark that it was hard to see or talk to anyone. I feel like for family friendly places like this there could be a bit more light and it wouldn’t ruin the ambiance
The fig, panacotta and amaretti gelato was delicious. I haven't tried any other flavours but they all looked good
Can get pretty crowded. Ice cream was good but probably a little over rated. I found it not as creamy as I’d expect and a little too sweet. No queue system so you have to make yourself visible to the staff. No toilet in the store.
Great range of ice creams and sitting areas, although we felt as though the ice creams weren’t as fresh as the Windsor location.
Actually the best ice cream in Melbourne. New specials every time we go in really makes it interesting too.
Hands down the best gelato in Melbourne. The Messina stores are always busy sometimes out the door but its definitely worth it. Never had a problem going here. Consistently good service and lots of different gelato flavours!
Amazing ice cream! They even have gluten free and vegan options for who needs, and the "Super Dulce de Leche" is to die for.
And they use the Liven app and give 15% cash back so it's even better:)
Lovely gelato. I ordered a cake for a birthday. The cake looks really awesome and too pretty to dig into. However shop is too busy, took me forever to get a staff member's attention to collect the cake.
My favourite places for ice cream (even though I'm lactose intolerant but who cares) because of their selection of flavours. Great service and staff was always friendly with a smile on their face and let you try different flavours. I have tried different flavours so far and not every flavour is my cup of tea but regardless the texture and consistency of their ice cream was always maintained. Great place!
The first time a friend brought me to Messina I thought the long line was for the nightclub next door. I was pretty skeptical about lining up for 20 minutes to get Icecream but when I got my apple pie Icecream I was in tears and disbelief about how good the Icecream was and how the hell they made it taste so authentic. Messina has essentially become a weekly ritual and every time I have it it’s like that scene in ratatouille where he eats food and sees colours. If you havnt had Messina Heath you havnt lived
