An authentic Indonesian food. This summer they have Bakso and sate as summer menu. Was packed at lunch time even though it was pouring rain. Unfortunately the ladies toilet couldn't be flushed and the toilet was jammed with toilet papers.

Food was exceptional. Great variety. Bunkis is a must. Venue is cafeteria style and with limited operating hours. For lunch it's fantastic.

As an Indonesian, I can say that the food served at Garam Merica is authentic and as good as those available back home. Since our first visit a couple of months ago, we have been back every 1-2 weeks and happy to report that the quality is always consistent and all the dishes we have tried have been delicious! Have recommended this restaurants to some friends and family and they love it too!

This has to be one of the best hidden gems around Melbourne. True Indonesian food, no fuss, just yummy food.

The food is delicious, delicious.
There are many varieties of food

But the place is small so sometimes you have to wait to get a seat

Best nasi bungkus in melbourne so far, but the price pretty expensive. ($19) and extra charge if public holiday, you can check the menu at their instagram (change everyweek)

Loved the dadar jagung and telor balado, though the sambal goreng kentang buncis could be spicier. The ayam bakar ala padang wasn't as fragrant as I would've liked either. Overall still pretty good though, portion was filling. The only downside is that they only sell their food as nasi bungkus, aka you can't order just certain dishes without rice, which could be inconvenient in some cases.

My favourite for the nasi bungkus are the beef rendang, iga sambel ijo/iga bakar, kering tempe & tahu semur. Cant go wrong with that combo!

Haven’t been to this place for ages.and finally made it to go there for lunch. Very good selections for the menu for the nasi campur. Today, I’ve ordered the fried chicken with nasi uduk nasi bungkus. One of the best Indonesian fried chicken in Melbourne. The Bihun is super tasty too. The place is quite small.but I don’t mind. Could always do take away as well. I really want to come back to try more nasi bungkus:)

Out of menu items most of the time. Customer service is not great. Food is okay. A serious competitor of authentic Indonesian food will ensure these guys pull up their socks and don’t do just the bare minimum.

Overall the foods are great. I really liked cumi hitam and ketoprak. But not a fan of its ayam bumbu padang:)

The Best Nasi Padang In Melbourne

How much more can I say? Simply the best nasi padang in Melbourne.

The condiments are great! A must try is the black ink squid and their tendon curry.

If you ever around to try it, please do yourself a favour and go!

The place doesn’t look so nice but the food are amazing

I tried nasi bungkus and ice campur this arvo. Nasi bungkus was worth the price i think. They are generous with the dish. Taste was on the spot for me. Very happy with taste and portion.

The ice campur however was not up to my standard, too sweet and not so many elements in it. I was expecting that they put more of young coconut flesh and possibly some tape (fermented cassava), or have some more ingredients like kolang kaling or cincau. Too expensive too i think.ice drink are not worth it in my opinion.

Parking is on st Kilda rd - in front of the restaurant (weekend only!). Otherwise you need to park somewhere else.

Amazing Indonesian Food (Nasi Bungkus)!

A bit spicier than normal Melbourne standard which is welcomed.
Just ask for chilli on the side if you can't handle too hot.

Major downside is they don't allow us to add more sides to my meal so If you want more you have to get another full portion.: (

BEST Indonesian food in Melbourne! So so so good. The staffs are friendly and could not get enough of how good it is and how close the taste with the original version back home in Indonesia.

Used to come here often, but since they increase the price, we haven't came for a while. Saturday morning we decided to come and take away some food for picnic. It was only 11: 10am and not much queue there. I ordered some items from the menu, just to be told that some items were not ready yet. I ordered fried rice for my kid. Only to be told that the kitchen was not ready for a la carte until 11: 30am. So we decided to wait and canceled our picnic plan. My friend who ordered the food was given nasty look by the cashier staff because she couldn't hear the staff talking quietly behind her mask and because we changed our mind to dine in there instead of take away. Just some feedback for you, 1. Put a clear sign near the cashier that you are not accepting any a la catre orders until 11: 30am. If I knew earlier, I would not waste my time queuing and waited until 11: 40am to get my food. Why not making sure all the nasi bungkus items are availabl before u guys open? They were shouting, blaming each other for the miscommunication in regards to the menu availability in front us. Very unprofessional. 2. My kid did not even eat the food because too spicy for her. They put small amount of chilli paste into their 'no spicy' nasi goreng. The staff did not even bother to separate the chilli from their nasi bungkus. Or give options of non spicy food. The family next to us also struggle to fed their kids coz their kids also did not like the food coz too spicy for them. This is not kids friendly restaurant. 3. There was no sambals in our nasi bungkus, a little amount of gravy, and the taste of the chicken was also BLAND. The beef was rubbery. They increased the price, but the taste and food quality are declining. 4. For that expenssive price tag, train your front staff to treat customers with respect. She needs to understand that people change their mind all the time and how to deal with it politely. Basic customer service is not there. Will not come back anytime soon. It's not worth the hype and price tag.

The best nasi bungkus in Melbourne,
Food is really good, so tasty and flavourful. We bought nasi bungkus with black squid, beef rendang and gulai kikil. Very authentic and delicious! The gulai kikil was incredibly tender, amazing will be back for more

The best authentic Indonesian food in Melbourne. The ayam gobar is bursting with flavours and great value for money. The nasi bungus offers amazing variety in a neat banana leaf parcel. There is indoor seating and they also offer take away.
Highly recommend trying this place.
