I’ve been training with Francesco for over a year now.
He is an exceptional personal trainer.
His professionalism shines through in every session, providing expert guidance with unwavering dedication. The remarkable results I've seen under his tutelage are a testament to her effectiveness. Francesco’s distinctive and successful approach to training has turned each session into a motivating and fulfilling experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Francesco to anyone in search of a positive transformation in their fitness journey.

Considering the location is nice and price is high, I expected a super cool experience. It's big but feels so run down, the machines are mid. The lighting is trash. The vibe is not good. It's messy. No weights are out away, and there's no preworkout drinks available for purchase.

After forgetting something, I called and asked them to set aside. I returned the following day, nothing, so i left a note for the staff member. A week later I tried again, this time, the story changed to, ‘he said he didn’t find it’, ‘he can’t remember where he left it’ AND ‘we’re not sure who was on that night so we can’t verify’.
The manager then spoke to me and accused me of lying, that I made up the story, and asked me to provide evidence. I showed him my call log, and he said that was insufficient since I could have been making a general enquiry. I then asked him about the note I left, and he said he didn’t know about it and they would’t acknowledge that since I probably lied when I wrote that too. He then adds that it’s in my terms and conditions (which they don’t give you a copy of) that they are not responsible for your personal belongings (even if they’re in their care). I wrote a complaint and they just wrote back saying they were happy to cancel my membership (I'm no longer in a contract, so they’re not doing me any favours) Really disgusting behaviour from a manager.

I have no clue why this is a platinum. The Richmond gym is way cleaner, bigger and better in every single way. They don't even have a pec machine. Not the worst but nothing special here. Gets super busy during pig hours.

I have been training with Francesco Ravanelli for a bit more than 2 years and I can safely say that not only my strength has increased but also my energy has.
Tailored programs that are everything but boring, with a variety of exercises and combos that have been helping me stay in good shape also positively affecting my mood.
I’d highly recommend him as a PT!

Visiting Melbourne, closest gym, got a day pass, $32, to ecoensive for 1 visit, staff unhelpful, asked for help, got told to go to the front desk, not a good vibe, won't be changing to Fitness First, will stay with Anytime Fitness after this experience.

I recently visited the Gym its great location. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom and men's changing room. The steam room was particularly unpleasant due to a bad smell and visibly dirty floor.

5 stars only because of PT Francesco who was the only one in Australia to fix my knee injury after changing several physiotherapist and the best sports doctor across Melbourne. The only person that truly believes in what he is doing because he is passionate about it.
The only that saved me from my knee injury after 3 agonizing years.
Thank you Francesco.

Pretty good gym. Staff are nice. They have pretty much everything better than a lot of other FF’s

Rude customer service asked my wife if she's interested in joining the gym or just doing a trail. My wife decided to do neither.

As a frequent visitor to Fitness First Melbourne Central Platinum, my experience has been relatively satisfactory so far. However, it's important to note that there are mixed reviews about the facility. While some of the front desk staff members are friendly, others may not provide the same level of service. It seems to be a matter of luck when it comes to the reception experience. Additionally, the gym tends to be crowded on weekends, which can impact the overall workout experience.

On a positive note, the quality of the trainers at Fitness First Melbourne Central Platinum is commendable. The coaches are knowledgeable and provide valuable guidance during workouts. This ensures that members receive professional assistance and support in achieving their fitness goals.

In summary, my experience at Fitness First Melbourne Central Platinum has been a mix of ups and downs. While the friendliness of the front desk staff may vary, the quality of the trainers remains consistently good. It's worth considering the facility's pros and cons, taking into account factors such as weekend crowding, when deciding whether it suits your fitness needs.

Usually train at fitness first qv, wanna try one day here today. This gym is not equipped with proper a/c during summer time, went straight to qv after spending 20 minutes here. Feel bad for people training here, it is legit a hazard for heat stroke.

Absolutely love coming to this gym. They have a great range of equipment and it’s easily accessible from the train station or with the two free hour parking. The staff are also so welcoming and approachable. Just a generally great atmosphere that makes me excited to train at a gym.

I was referred by a friend to join fitness first Melbourne Central and decided to try a personal trainer for the first time. I started with two consultations and five months later, I haven't looked back since!

Training with Ian Kho has been a fantastic experience. He is someone who is very organised, punctual, articulate and he cares deeply about helping his clients progress. He has helped me achieve many new lifting personal bests, all the while in doing so, proper form is the focus.

He goes above and beyond to always help me with questions I have on days I train without him and also he provided me with a comprehensive dietary plan to help me reach my physique goals.

If you're umm-ing and ahh-ing on biting the bullet on a PT, I would highly recommend training with him!

Disclaimer: This is not so much FF Melbourne Central-specific as it is a general critique of the CBD branches of late, so please don't put it all on the staff at Melbourne Central- it was my favorite of all the CBD studios.

I must admit, I write this review based on my own exercise preferences, which certainly differ from the demographic that tends to write reviews for this particular gym, so depending on the size of my particular 'type' of gym goer, please take it with a grain of salt.

I signed up for Fitness First mainly because of group classes. I was a first-time gym goer; more than anything just wanted to be in a space to have a good workout, motivated by others around me working hard & having the instructor keeping an eye lest I opt out of laziness. The group class format has been integral in my fitness journey to keeping a regular exercise routine & feeling strong+healthful for the past three years.

As such, the drop in quantity of classes across all CBD FF gyms has been- alongside the systemic errors utilizing Clubware, the website best for updated, accurate class timetabling- was the deciding matter for my subsequent gym cancellation. For example, Pilates as one of my classes- there used to be around 11 classes weekly in the CBD area (QV, Melb Central, Flinders St, Bourke) stretched across the weekdays which gave me lots of options in terms of time & instructors. The QV instructor (Dennis?) was great for combining light weights with classical Pilates exercises, the lady (Sheena?) at the Bourke St one did something similar that I really enjoyed, the Melb Central+Flinders had the absolute best instructors who were more core-crazy, Thursday's instructor had a great stretch routine, etc etc: the point I'm making is that the flexibility in time, teacher instruction variability+preferences as well as the number of classes was attractive to me as a gym goer with a bit of the fitness junkie in me. However many of these classes were dropped or timetabled to be at the same time, which really limited the number of Pilates classes I could do. The same with Body Balance (not even at Flinders anymore, which had fantastic teachers like Inge and Sarah), Attack+Core. The drop in class numbers meant I didn't feel I was able to get the most of my membership & I felt less satisfied with my level of exercise, especially as I am not one to spend too much time with free weights. This had been going on for some months such that when my contract period was coming to an end I decided to look for options elsewhere.

Also, for the really popular classes it would be nice to incorporate the booking option that was used during the pandemic. For example, Tuesday's BodyPump is ridiculously popular (I think that instructor is the best one Fitness First has, in my experience) but his class is so in-demand that unless you're very early you can't guarantee you'll have a spot which makes the stress of trying to speedily get there, change+be set up prior to class starting a real hassle. Or can you have him teach more classes? Imposing the booking freeze like during the pandemic if you miss 3 classes in a week would be a suitable penalty for a no-show, while allowing people sticking around to join the class if there are spaces- this can be applied to the more popular scheduled classes.

Clubware was useless for something like a fortnight; at the very least Fitness First should have put a notification on the website/sent an email &/or text message so that at least we understand that they recognize a problem, are aware of it+the inconvenience it cause+have some alternate plan like an accurate, written timetable in.pdf format send via email or posted up on the branch gym's website or linked via text for perusal. Because the Fitness First timetable is the most useless tool and Clubware was all we ever had. Also having the right instructor under the scheduled class would create a sense of competency. Customers shouldn't have to call and prompt the management to do so.

Finally: have monthly refresher/first-time classes for specific group workouts.

Unfortunately I am deleting two stars to that gym. Today I went to train for my class because I’m studying personal training and my course has a membership with fitness first, we take our classes in Melbourne central and that is the only reason I’m still going there (as I already had other issues even with my card). I was wearing a small shorts and as it was new I didn’t realise before that it was a bit small for me, whoever I tried to complete the routine for my class but through one of the mirrors I clearly saw one trainer looking at my shorts and laughing while she was talking to other trainer. Everything was very obvious, the laugh and the direction of her staring at me, if I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t complain specially because is an embarrassing topic.
The situation made me feel very uncomfortable and I couldn’t continue with my training, however I went to talk to the manager about this.
Before I talked to him I understood that this kind of situation might seem like something irrelevant or not important. That kind of attitude seems like a school problem where the girls laugh at each other. But I didn’t doubt to complain because this is something that can’t happen in a gym specially from a staff member. The gym is a place where many people might feel insecure and are making a big effort to feel comfortable training.
I also know this because I am studying PT and is not ethically correct, people need to feel comfortable.
That trainer already had some attitudes that I didn’t like, for example one day that she was at the reception and I was needing help moving a barbell because I have a permanent injury in my lower back. She didn’t want to help and also didn’t call other staff member to help me like the other trainer usually do.
I appreciate when people are nice and kind on their work and one time she really help me and was good to me because my locker wasn’t working and she solved the issue with a very good attitude. She was friendly that day and I recognise it but unfortunately besides that she should be more kind to the costumers more often and don’t laugh to others.
The manager was very kind and listened to me today and I appreciate his attitude but it didn’t change the fact that I had an uncomfortable moment and had to come back home with a disappointing feeling. He also told me he could check the cameras which of course I’m agree as the situation was totally obvious and I am 100% sure of what I saw.
I love the Zumba classes there but I won’t come back as I am used to a better environment in a gym.
I am giving three stars just because of the classes, group trainers are good and is not fair to don’t recognise them for their good job.
I have to come back there because of my PT classes otherwise I honestly wouldn’t. Most days I’ll rather for other gym and can’t recommend it 100%

I've been going to Fitness First Melbourne Central for 4 years now, its a great environment with enough equipments for everyone. Also training with my personal trainer Francesco has been great. He is not only professional and knowledgeable but also a friendly face to look forward to. He keeps the sessions very efficient and fun at the same time. Always has a positive attitude and tries to get most out of the training with individual tailored programs.

Staff never appear at last 10m (up to 20m) to scan for parking ticket and made customers wait for them, which results in late picking up their cars and charge for over 2hours parking. I have encounter this issue 5 times and have asked them to scan at7.30 when I just arrive but being rejected.

Really bad attention and service to the client, I’m giving two starts just because the equipment is good but is something that you can find in any other gym with a better service.
I had few situations where I asked for a simple help (simple things like when I need help moving a barbell or disc) to the staff because I have an injury in my lower back and received a negative response specially from two members that are even mean to respond, even talking without kindness or energy.
One staff member, Jeff, he is an example of a good service, he is always super kind, helpful and friendly and as a client makes me feel welcome. Unfortunately can’t say the same about some other members.
I go to this gym because I’m studying PT and my class is there, otherwise I wouldn’t come back.
