Festival Hall reviews
60Very cool iconic building. Was there on a Sunday for Hillsong church. I'm pretty sceptical when it comes to church, I find it can be over produced and well acted but this church def had a nice vibe. The people were super cool and genuine. Recommend giving it a try if you're interested.
Festival is a great place. It is the Hillsong City Church now for 4 weeks while the comedy festival is on.
Festival Hall has just been sold to the Hillsong Cult, a tax-exempt business indoctrinating minds with lies and garbage.
Great Place now Hillsong Church! Free to enter iconic place. Great music/worship-Blessing and encouraging word all for free known as GRACE.
Had a sensational time for my concerts there over the years: remember seeing Dire Straits here and when Suzi Quatro made surprise guest appearance years ago.
Had an amazing time for my concert but it was a small venue for such a large crowd and well known artist
Really great venue but really needs air conditioning. Perfect size to be up close but when it's 35° C outside it is unbearable inside.
I spent much of my time here staring at he ceiling, which resembles the inside of a great airship from a Syd Mead drawing, or rather gouache painting, which you would recognise if you saw one of his drawings, or rather paintings.
One has the sense they are being transported like livestock across the galaxy, as the hull of the great vessel vibrates with sounds from the Dark Ambient concert you are supposedly listening to.
Thanks Paul and Tony for a great night
Juice Wrld was amazing.
RIP
Found it super weird you couldn't buy alcohol sitting in the wings. Don't remember seeing an alcohol free zone when we bought the tickets - others were confused as well.
No access to merch sitting where we did either.
Historic venue in need of a refurb. Gives you the feeling of being in a high school gymnasium.
Seating to the side now has wire barriers separating you from the floor area, it’s been ages since I’ve been there however I wouldn’t buy seated tickets again as having to watch through the fence was annoying. The only good seats are the ones at the back that are straight on however they’re very hard to get.
Awesome venue.
Also some very friendly/helpful security personnel! Will definitely come back.

Easily Melbourne’s most in-need-of-love large live music venue. It’s big, which is great, but the acoustics are a shambles and for whatever reason the stage is in the wrong place. I’ve seen some great shows here - all the way back to Public Enemy in ‘91 - but I’ve never really wanted to go here. If it’s the only place a band is playing, hit it up. Otherwise please avoid this jumped-up shed.
Was made to put my very small tote bag in the cloakroom meaning I had to queue for 15 mins at the end of the night. Insane lines for the bar, queue snaking around the venue, nothing on tap, everything was poured from cans into plastic cups, how wasteful can you be?
Old school venue, very efficient entry/exit process. Security was helpful and visibly present. You visit festival hall for the music and bands, and that's what you get.
The ONLY band that ever managed to sound good in this acoustically retarded building is the Pixies. Wayne Coyne would have cried if he'd heard the sound from where I sat. Sheesh what's wrong with these people's ears?
Iconic music venue that is in desperate need of an upgrade. Kinda smelly but it’s cool to think that the Beatles played there! Try to get GA instead of seats- visibility is limited on the sides due to the fences.
No real food options and staff and security running the event had little to no idea about what the early access was on our tickets therefore didnt get what i payed for and was let in with general public resulting in missing out on Merchandise due to large crowds
One of my least favourite music venues in Melbourne. Apart from it not being as easily accessible as other venues, it's an odd layout for music concerts. Acoustics didn't feel right and the general ambiance was lacking. Bathrooms are also pretty nasty.
Just a bit chilly cuz the ac was directly on our column of seats but not too bad esp when you're in the presence of Lauryn Hill, very organised event
