Fergusson Winery & Restaurant

We had our wonderful wedding at Fergusson Winery in December 2022! The venue has an intimate and rustic charm, and our guests loved the food (crowd favourites were the gnocchi and steak). The staff are attentive and friendly - a special shout out to Sara and Sarah who made the whole wedding process a dream! The perfect setting for a beautiful and memorable wedding, we can't thank the team enough!

We got married at Fergusson winery Nov 2022 and couldn't have been happier with the incredible venue and amazing staff. Sara and her amazing team at Fergusson made our day run as smooth as possible.

The service was great but the food was mediocre at its best. There was only 5 enters and 4 mains. They were very plain, no flavours and nothing excellent or anything rave about. You would expect a winery that has a limited menu would have great food but I was highly mistaken. For $80pp we got some plain food. Wont be going back!

Unfortunately my Partner and I didn’t have a great experience. Our tour guide arranged the lunch. We arrived, wasn’t told what we were getting, just that it would be 2 courses. We were not offered drinks. We asked what we were eating and were told fish and meat… we asked for drinks which didn’t arrive until course 2. We asked to slow the service down but after having a break in the sun between courses, the 2nd course was left on the table when we were still outside. We told the staff we were not happy and the waitress got defensive. The food was good hence the 2 stars, the Aranchini balls were delicious as was the meat (which turned out to be beef rump). The staff seem inexperienced and didn’t know much about providing an enjoyable meal due to lack of communication, not knowing the menu and rushing! A shame as a lovely location with potential to be much better. Our drinks were given to us for free which is something!

Service was friendly but slack. Food was good but slow to come out. The restaurant is not a 5 min drive away, people come from various parts of Melbourne and expect service to be prompt and efficient. They forgot one of our mains even after we confirmed the order twice. They served the bread with olive oil, but when I asked for butter, was told they have no butter. What kind of kitchen keeps no butter? !? They also tried to comp us a couple of “cheese boards” to make up for the missed main, but it was literally pears, sultanas and crackers.
The place has potential, but they have much to learn in the way of service and food preparation. Not to mention, the trestle table covered with white table cloth was wobbly.

Had my milestone bday here.must say everything was 5 star. Been to a few wineries and will rate the food way better than even a top rated restaurant. The service was impeccable. The chef himself came out twice to confirm is food was ok.the wines are good and overall it turned out to be a memorable afternoon. Will highly recommend.cheers

We arranged a 21st lunch for my grandson, a great deal of planning and preparation. We arrived promptly and were seated, there was no request for drinks, we waited a considerable time for entree (this had been organised by my daughter previously. I could go on abut the awful experience (several other tables complained) Which is great shame as we are locals and often are asked to recommend restaurants etc. The one star is for the waitress who desperately tried to salvage a very disappointing experience. Amazing venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. The current owners have done a great job bringing Fergusson to exceptional standard. Perfect size for 110 guests in the reception area with plenty of space for everyone. Sara the event and wedding specialist was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole process from the first enquiry right through to the actual day. Elie, the venue manager ran the reception service exceptionally well. Staff set up the dining area fast and really well to how we planned it. The barrel room was fantastic for the actual ceremony. The wine barrels made a great back drop for the ceremony! There was a wonderful outside area with a decorative grape vine structure which was great for group photos. The food was a solid 8.5 for the reception dinner. Everyone commented that they have never had such good food at a wedding reception before. Portion sizes were good, fish and steak were cooked just right (which is impressive given that there were 53 portions of each). The snapper skin was crisp. We had the house made pork cotechino and lightly cured king fish which were both amazing. Desert was white chocolate panna cotta and peach parfait and also delicious and left everyone with happy looks of satisfaction on their faces. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The kitchen ran extremely efficiently and on time. Wine is also very good. There were multiple guests requesting to purchase bottles of wine (esp the 2012 Shiraz). Outstanding shiraz for the region. We also had access to a neighbouring small unit to leave things, prep and get ready which was very handy. We were so lucky that we randomly came across Fergusson winery as we had the most perfect wedding there! Looking forward to many more meals there, especially our anniversary!

2 weeks later we have visited Fergussons for Mother's Day. The set menu was nothing short of spectacular! Excellent value, considering the 4 options for entree and dessert were all included and we only had to pick the mains. All mothers got to take home the cute little bouquet of flowers, a little tin of salve, and pick any bottle of wine to take home (no restriction on which bottles!). I would rate the food at mothers day a 9/10!

Appalling. Arrived on time, table hadn’t been freed up and had to wait. Then waited 15 minutes for a menu. Ordered a bottle of still water to be served a glass of tap. Then waited an incredible hour and 20 mins for food to be served. Took that long that they brought the bread out twice and some “complimentary” potato skins. Ordered the gnochi which was meant to have brocollini, served without. Ordered all 3 sides to only get 2 and ordered the steak cooked medium to have it served blue. Probably the worst dining experience i’ve had.

I could not recommend Fergusson Winery more for a wedding. Basically every request I put forward leading up to the wedding I got a resounding yes, and always a response within two business days. It was clear the day before that the staff had read through my run sheet in detail, so it came as no surprise that everything was set up perfectly and stunningly in the reception and ceremony areas on the day. Fergusson has all the facilities you need and multiple, stunning photo spots around the venue that you don't need to go anywhere else on the day which really relieves stress. We really didn't need nor wish to go anywhere else. And we were also able to have our (very small) dog stay with us at the homestead, meaning she was able to be part of our day which meant the world to us. And Sara, the wedding coordinator there is just so onto everything at all times, and so lovely! Thank you Fergusson Winery! We had The. Best. Day. Ever.

Possibly the best Yarra Valley winery, excellent food and a very wonderful location for a winery wedding.

Had a magnificent 2 course lunch at Fergusson's winery today on our winery tour.they were so accomodating after the very unprofessional tour company that ""managed ""our booking completely miss managed it.with thanks to Paul and his amazing staff that made our lunch experience very memorable and made our day.beautiful wine as well.highly recommend.thankyou Ferguson's winery

We had an amazing lunch and tasting experience. The staff were totally unpretentious, fun and attentive, the best customer service experience I’ve had in years.
The food was outstanding topped by some of the valleys finest wines. I recommend the Pinot Grigio … delicious

I had my wedding at Fergusson Winery on April 22,2022.
This winery is stunning - the gorgeous grounds that were amazing for wedding photos (a weatherboard chapel, gorgeous pond, old Melbourne tram, the vines, sandstone pavilion, etc.) as well as the fantastic interior that has been updated considerably over the past twelve months.
The winery has a lodge on site with three queen sized bedrooms which was perfect for the bridal party to get ready in and created a great atmosphere the night prior and the day of the wedding.
Sara, the wedding consultant at Fergusson, was attentive and flexible with our ideas, requests and vision.
I cannot thank Fergusson enough for their attention to detail, help and advice along this journey and all of our guests commented on how amazing the staff were on the night (table service for drinks at a wedding - so good!) and how delicious the food was.
As well as this - the venue was dog friendly and encouraged our two dogs to attend the wedding!
