Due to previous artists that had messed up my brows I had little confidence left. After seeing Tan, who fixed them, my confidence is now 110% I now love my brows!

BEWARE! I PAID $650 TO HAVE 5 O'CLOCK SHADOW AND SHAVED EYEBROWS AGAINST MY WILL AND THEN TO BE COMPLETELY DISMISSED.

If you are looking to have services here ensure you show photos, have them mapped FIRST and strongly speak up without being dismissed.
Ensure the process is carried out to plan and adequately explained. Refunds are apparently not issued and you are told to contact ACCC, dismissed and blocked from social media if you are displeased, even when put respectfully and eloquently.

1. I communicated what I wanted
2. Brows were sculpted and shaved much thinner than desired before they were mapped and shown to me AFTER I said I DID NOT want them trimmed, shaved and ONLY filled in.
3. I communicated how I had spent 8 months growing out my brows and how I wanted them and how they weren’t reflective of what I wanted.
4. I emailed and phoned after the appointment very distressed and rather than being phoned, was dealt with only after commenting on their social media - which they then manipulated comments to make it look like I had gone elsewhere.
5. Less than 24 hours on there are black dots under my brow bone from where my brow was shaved without any warning or permission.

The response from the technician and Director was simply that I grow them back (another 8 months and unsightliness?) and that they potentially re-microblade them after giving me a “more conservative eyebrow” as I’m a “beginner”.

I am a Mother of 2 toddlers, (ex beauty therapy / dermal therapy student) with little spare time and wanted microblading for the convenience of not having time to allocate weekly maintenance to my brows. This was communicated and why I wanted them filled in only. The therapist went rogue and then told me that I would then need to wax / thread weekly to fortnightly after that shape and sculpt he had performed (removing 1/3 to 1/2 of my brow).

It is not feasible to ask someone to pay $650 for microblading, not meet the brief, not listen to what the customer is communicating and to only leave them needing to regrow their brows for another 8 months. I would have been better off not having any services performed at all and to just continue to fill them in with pencil than worse off, stressed, and $650 poorer.

I give talent and credit where it is due.
A mere apology and phone call rather than excuses and defensiveness and insincere messages would have saved the feud and ugliness.

There are many brow studios around and I’m sure after my experience, the personnel from Eye Art Studio will be more cautious and considerate in future - well who knows.

To the director Tan, the saying ‘the customer is always right’ reigns true. Should you have simply and genuinely empathised a little more (maybe even phoned me yourself) instead of worrying about manipulating my respectful IG comment, things would have not escalated to the level of a bad review.
Telling someone to go to the ACCC because they were unsatisfied and inconvenienced is POOR customer service.
As a former business owner of a popular cafe for over 6 years, having worked in hospitality and retail for over 15 years, Ive found that even the most difficult customer relationships / experiences can be rectified and negotiated fairly.

I am sure I will receive a diplomatic, defensive response- or perhaps nothing at all after being blocked and dismissed and “ending our business relationship” without any recourse or resolution.
I suppose that’s the beauty of written correspondence, it’s documented and print-screenable.

Whilst I doubt I’ll receive even half of what I paid (and most likely nothing according to the Directors initial response) in terms of a refund, at least this review cannot be deleted.

I made an appointment with Tan to have my eyebrows done after most of my natural brows fell out. I paid $750 up front and booked my first session for December 11th. After the first session, and once healing had finished, uptake of pigment was patchy, particularly on the inner aspects of both brows and more so on my right brow (see the 1st photo below).

Tan didn't seem to be able to give me a definitive reason for this but she did say that it was possible my skin had taken up the numbing cream and then refused to accept the pigment.

Immediately after my 2nd session my brows looked amazing (see the second photo taken immediately after the 2nd session January 27th). But as had happened the first time, quite a lot of the pigment disappeared by the time healing had finished (see the 3rd photo taken today).

Because the pigment wasn't being retained Tan did a review 4 weeks post my 2nd session and booked me in for a 3rd appointment. That appointment was today at 12.15. When I turned up for the appointment today Tan was with another client and I was met by a different staff member who told me he would be doing my procedure. I explained that the process hadn't been straightforward and my skin didn't seem to be retaining the pigment well but since the second session had been more successful in this regard than the first, I would like the same person to complete the procedure. He went away to speak with Tan and returned saying he would just do the numbing part and let Tan do the rest. Again I explained that I wanted Tan to do the procedure especially given she had said that the numbing cream may have been part of the issue at the first session.

Tan came out and asked me what the problem was. I explained and she became angry saying the other staff member was only going to apply the numbing cream. That was the first time I had heard this but it made no difference. The face was, I had booked with her and she knew what worked on my skin and I preferred her to complete the whole procedure especially given the fact that she had said the numbing cream might have had some impact on the fact that my skin wouldn't accept the pigment on the day of my first appointment. Tan then accused me of "disrespecting her staff" and of "being angry when I came in" even though she hadn't been present when I came into the shop. I disputed this saying I had been happily chatting to a friend on the phone when I turned up for my appointment and I hadn't raised my voice at anyone or said anything that was in the least bit rude. Tan refused to complete my procedure and told me she would refund me half my money. I told her I just wanted the procedure completed. She refused saying she wouldn't feel comfortable to have me as a client any longer. Feeling the same way by that stage, I said I would take the refund. Tan then changed the refund amount to $90 and said she would only give me that if I signed a waiver. I wasn't going to sign anything which gave away my legal right to complain about my treatment, so I left with unfinished eyebrow tattooing and no refund.

I suspect she was too busy to see me, or maybe my skin wasn't behaving as she would have liked and she didn't want to retain me as a client because I was just too difficult to tattoo successfully. But whatever the reason, I don't think the way I was treated was reasonable and it was extremely rude and unprofessional.

I made a complaint to the Health Complaints Commissioner today.

The Eye Art team have been the most accommodating, caring people ever. I’ve struggling with my self confidence due to hair loss on my brows for years and had been searching for the perfect micro-blading place for a year. I cant thank Tan and the team enough. Eye art studio is amazing! They give quality treatments, are caring and welcoming. As soon as you walk in they offer you a refreshment and their atmosphere especially in their waiting room is so tranquil and makes you feel relaxed. I got my microblading done by Joey and he was spectacular! Every session he would always explain the procedure and steps along the way. I was especially impressed how there was no pain during the treatments and it’s mostly focusing on not falling asleep during the treatment from being so relaxed. Now that I’ve done microblading I only wish I had known about it sooner as Joey has helped boost my confidence! I highly recommend going to Eye art studio for any treatment they offer, especially microblading. Thank you Eye Art Studio!
