A well presented centre to highlight an important part of the Australian storey and the development of the democratic tradition of this country.
Everyone should visit this amazing place. Understand the history and feel the energy of a monumental moment in Australian history.
A marvellous presentation about an important part of the Australian story. The centre and the lovely grounds are well worth visiting.
Very interesting and informative exhibition of Victoria's Gold rush history. Great aircon, plenty of seats and well stocked souvenir shop. I remember as a kid in the 80s visiting the stockade and there was with the original stockade or replica of the stockade. It was disappointing knowing that has been removed. Exhibition is located in well maintained public gardens that offer picnic areas, children's playground.
Better than expected. Don't both going if your not into reading plarks under paintings. Not many videos or people talking. Similar environment to a library, except it has a gift shop
This was a great place to learn about Eureka and the Eureka Stockade. They have multiple info boards inside and touchscreen displays so you can learn about it interactively. It was great to learn about the events leading up to the stockade, learning what happened in the stockade and what happened afterwards. They also had a great cafe onsite and the real Eureka flag, which was great to see.
What great Australian history, everyone who visits Ballarat must visit here. So much to see just take your time and read everything and come out knowing how tough it really was in the gold rush days
I have got to say this place needs more than an hour to stroll through and explore. And certainly don't have a dog in tow whilst you travel through unless there is somewhere cool to leave him/her. Staff friendly. History and tears and accomplishments, hopes and fears of the pioneers of the area are well displayed.
Glad this museum is back to being the Eureka Centre. Not as good as it was when it first opened but still ok for the history. Would be helpful if the staff welcoming staff were long-term locals with local knowledge, not someone who has just recently moved to the area.
Small museum - only a single room plus the Eureka Flag - but well presented and lots of interesting artefacts to enjoy. I'd say you only need an hour here. There's a nice cafe with good indoor and outdoor seating, though a touch pricey. Also a cute Eureka themed fort playground next to the centre. Our family combined visiting this centre plus the outdoor pool next door on a stinking hot day - was a perfect way to keep cool and amused for the day.
You'll get to learn a little of the history, but overall there is not much to see. Tiny little cafe that does however make a nice coffee
Great for Australian History and what life was like last century. Great exhibits in a city setting.
Worth the visit if you are interested in early Australian history relating to the Gold Rush and the history of how and why of the Eureka Stockade
Very good historical museum. Plenty of original artifacts, context around the events of the Eureka stockade, acknowledgement of the appropriation of the symbols (without judgement) and very friendly and helpful staff.
The centre is great. Very interactive and educational. To be honest, our kids weren't keen to go, but half way through, the 9 year old says. "actually mum, this is quite interesting". Ha ha. We spent about an hour there.
I last visited this area about 30 years ago and I wasn't sure what to expect, but the museum was fantastic and very informative.
Very informative and well presented exhibits. Learnt a lot more than we expected about the Eureka Stockade and it’s significance.
They have turned an armed rebellion into a theme park mixed with a child's playground.the only thing I enjoyed there was watching the ducks and the Japanese birds chase each other i left after a few minutes the Ballarat cemetery is good many you could pay your respects to people who actually fought for freedom to they even have information on the WW1 and WW2 soldiers
