Empire Hotel reviews
55We really enjoyed the bar food served upstairs on the balcony. Great food, value and lovely staff Would highly recommend.
The food was excellent! Steak was cooked to perfection (rare) and the prawn starter was just off the scale!
We dined as a couple at the back fancier restaurant part and found the lighting and ambience to be quite nice. We had a 2 course meal- excellent. The flavours and ingredients were well thought out. The service was friendly. Would recommend for a nice fine dining meal out.
We had a brilliant meal at the Empire Hotel, great service and atmosphere. If you’re in Beechworth I highly recommend paying a visit.
Fabulous pub/restaurant in the heart of Beechworth. Bar food on the upstairs balcony was delicious, and the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and streetscape were lovely.
Andy and Scott are great hosts, and our favourite was the fried chicken and the dumplings. Will be back for the restaurant menu next time!
Had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious.
Great flavours and attention to detail. We had vegetarian options and I indulged in a Ginger Ninja cocktail.
Laura was our waitress and able to assist amazingly with a crying baby. We ended up having desert in the reserve with our bub.
Cheesecake was a real surprise and great sour sweet combo with the decadent choc semifredo.
My partner and I had the three-course meal and it was delicious. Each plate was very different and all the ingredients were well thought out and worked well together. Our server Laura was amazing! She was very knowledgeable on every aspect of the food and drinks menus and very attentive and personable. In short we had an enjoyable dinner and would definitely eat there again.
We were lucky enough to have two dinners this week at The Empire. The food is simply superb, on a par with anything in Melbourne, and the wait staff are charming, polite and efficient. Can’t wait to get back to Beechworth!
Amazing friendly service
Don't know why I haven't been before tonight
Will definitely go back
We had a lovely 3 course dinner in the downstairs dining room, and were blown away by the quality of the food. If only all 'pub grub' were to this standard! The food here is on par with some of the best restaurants in either Sydney or Melbourne without the snobby atmosphere, simply sublime!
Andrew and co.were the perfect hosts. They were clearly born to deliver excellent hospitality.
My partner Kerrie and I appreciated very much the queer-friendly premises, it’s enriching art exhibition, and its divine food.
Shauna, The Chef, made us pork dumplings in a plum sauce and scallops to die for. The wine was also excellent.
You haven’t experienced the best of Beechworth if you haven’t dined here.
Had dinner twice this week. First the pub food tappas style, which was wonderful on a balmy Sunday night. The locals seems to love this hotel (good sign). Went back 4 days later for the a la carte experience. Very good food and excellent wine list with lots of local wines available. Highly recommended when on town! (very friendly staff and owners).
Beautiful lunch food.
Extremely expensive.
$50 for 2 entrees, a bowl of chips and a soft drink!
Lovely customer service
I arrived around 7pm
It took 100 minutes to get our main meals.
The Food is sub pub standard with high end restaurant prices attached to it.
The place is not family friendly making people with young children to wait over 100 minutes for thier main is unacceptable.
We had dinner on a Friday night at the Empire, and the choice was made in no small part because of the ratings. I am so glad we went there! Andrew our host was the epitome of friendliness and charm, and was just delightful. AND THE FOOD! The phrase "flavours that explode in your mouth" is often over-used, but in this case it is totally accurate. The beef and kingfish entrees were incredible, with such a wonderful complexity of flavours, and then the trout and lamb mains: GOOD GRIEF: So tender, so juicy, such flavours! We selected wines to go with the meals and each one was perfect: lovely flavours that complemented each meal perfectly. We cannot wait to return to the Empire on our next trip to Beechworth, and highly recommend it as a choice for dinner.
Great menu in extraordinary times. Awesome service and food absolutely delicious. The warm open fire adds to the ambience. Exceptional wine list by the glass and bottle. Great espresso martini. A must when in Beechworth. Fabulous
Great pub. Clean and comfortable bedding. Great conversation with the owner and bar staff. Relaxing ambience on the balcony. It was a fabulous weekend. Thanks. Even in this uncertain climate with the virus, plenty of space, plenty of fresh air - support businesses.
Husband and I decided to spend time and money in tourist deprived areas as a result of recent fires. We had an absolutely brilliant meal, local wines and service provided by Georgia was magnificent. Her knowledge of local products was great and her personality lovely. Experience this wonderful establishment people. You won’t be disappointed.
A nice place to rest. Extremely hot showers, wonderful comfortable beds. No noise from patrons below and friendly staff. Breakfast was included in our price where we ate on the balcony as the sun rose It was nice to stay in an old refurbished hotel. Close to everything being in the centre of town. We did not eat dinner as they were booked out.
Dined downstairs. Food a little over-priced but very good. Great staff, great wine list & an amazing array of live entertainment coming up. Wine by the glass x 5 (2 of us!) No dessert (too full). $230 for entree/mains/wines. We’ll be back!
