Eighteen Sixty

Fine dining in beautiful Nagambie. Our 3rd time at Eighteen Sixty and it does not disappoint. As a semi local, I appreciate the regional representation of quality wines.
I recommend booking so you don’t miss out!

This little Italian Restaurant is a gem in the heart of Nagambie. The Wine and food were amazing and beautifully crafted. We shared two entrees and a Mains which was on the Specials Board - Lamb Ragu with Tagliatelle - Delicious! The fresh Calamari lightly pan fried was succulent and a melt in your mouth dish and so was the toasted Foccacia served with whipped Ricotta and olive oil. The lady waiting our table was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful and professional and our dining experience just made our weekend at Nagambie special. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My friends and I were blown away by our 1860 experience. We had stopped over in Nagambie on the way back to Canberra from Geelong - it was completely unplanned 3 days prior. The food was exceptional but like all excellent restaurants often the differentiator comes with the wait staff. We didn't catch the name of the blonde who waited on us but she was engaging and really knowledgeable on the local wines, leading us to pick a wine we probably wouldn't have normally picked - it was a stand out. Our unplanned stop was almost the highlight of the trip - understanding that the night before we had been to Robbie Williams so a bit of a tough act to follow.

It was our second visit & to have staff remember us was lovely, then the food! Sublime! The flavours were amazing & we all loved our choices, which we shared amongst us… we left completely content.

Lovely staff who were accommodating and warm, a large variety of wines and spirits to choose from.
Loved everything we ate: the arancini, scallops with house made nduja, squid ink linguini, and the steak were all perfectly cooked!
A great asset to Nagambie.

Spent a great night at Eighteen Sixty in Nagambie last night. It was rated at number one on Trip adviser and definitely lived up to the rating. The food was delicious especially the squid ink pasta with crab and prawns and just the right amount of chilli, it had an abundance of prawns and crab and flavour was beautiful. Great wine suggested by the waiter. Service excellent. If in the area don’t miss it but you’d need to book as was a full house.

We had been recommended this restaurant by Mitchelton winery where we were staying. So happy we took their advise. Everything was fabulous the food, the service and the restaurant. Well worth a visit if you are going to Nagambie. Great country food and hospitality. 5

Nagambie’s Gem!

My husband and I dined here last Sunday for lunch. Best food of our trip!

Cosy restaurant with a relaxed vibe and a welcoming fire.
Friendly, attentive staff and chef.
Reasonably priced.

We shared and enjoyed:
2021 Box Grove Vineyard Sezao (Avenel VIC)
Grilled artichokes, fresh mint and fior di latte
Pickled sardines, pine nuts and raisins
Squid ink fusilli with our signature market seafood ragu, tomato sugo and pangrattato
panna cotta

Everything was delicious but the stand outs for me were the artichokes, the panna cotta and the wine which was recommended by one of the lovely ladies serving us.

An exceptional experience every time. Have sampled 90% of the menu and everything has exceeded expectations. The service from Bernie and the team has always been first class. For example, a friend of ours has both dairy and nut allergies. Bernie pulled out a pen and re worked the entire menu for our friend in the spot. 11/10

Wonderful seating outside with heaters. Staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Loved the eggplant parmigiana. Wine list was good with lots of Victorian wine.

Fabulous little restaurant, delicious food, cannot fault anything we ate each dish is balanced, well seasoned and a good size. Knowledgeable, happy service which always makes you feel welcome. Chocolate banana pudding that reminded me of when i was young We will 100% come back.

What a gorgeous little bit of Italy in country Victoria. Beautiful food and lovely staff to compliment it.

Incredible food, vibe and service. Best artichokes I've eaten in my life.
Plus, they catered to our allergies/food preferences despite it being a public holiday when others would say no changes.
The service really makes the experience, our waitress was knowledgeable and a delight!

We had an incredible Sunday lunch. Wine list is fantastic. Staff were wonderful and the food was just exquisite. So delicious. Thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely dining experience at Eighteen 60. Took advantage for the balmy night and dined in the court yard. Could not rate the customer service any higher, the waitress had a wealth of wine knowledge and recommended some great menu choices. The ambience was excellent. Will definitely dine here again.

We were visiting from melb with Ned and Jamie who are locals down here.
The food was amazing. Very rare to find a menu as good as anything in any major city around the world.
The service was also excellent. If you are visiting this region eating at eighteen sixty should be top of your list.

Had a wonderful lunch on Thursday. Everything we ordered was delightful. Great choice of wines and knowledgeable staff. We shall certainly return. Thank you.
Revisited since original review and I'm happy to report that the standard is still there. Great food, great wine, great service. (maybe they could have improved the weather on last visit as it rained) Nagambie is buzzing and great adventure to train it from Melbourne. (depart Melbourne about 0915 and return around 1730)
