Dumpling Chef reviews
41The food at dumpling chef is super tasty and will leave your mouth watering your tastebuds will be in heaven and will leave you wanting more set in the heart of greensbrough plaza there is a great selection to choose from the staff here are friendly and will greet you with a warm smile and a friendly hello so come on down and see for your self try the nasi gorang
Fried beef dumplings were dry, boiled vege dumplings were glugy, fried squid doesnt looks like the pic, stir fry vegi was a rip off for $15.worst of all they use single use plastic spoon, fork and plate.
Had the Taiwan style beef noodles. If chewy beef and overcooked broccoli served on flavorless 2 minute noodles is Taiwanese style, remind me not to eat in Taiwan. Terrible
From the lower floor store.
Food is ok, customer service is terrible, they don't have any organisation around tickets and the dumpling soup is cooked from frozen
We went to dumpling chef last night and the dishes we got were good but they missed one and after waiting 45 minutes I asked about it and after explaining the situation 4 times and them not understanding I got my money back and walked out with my family very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Very bad, ordered the beans and rice, came to around $12 I got literally 3 spoons of beans and 4 spoons of rice for bloody $12.discusting. Such a ripp off
This not a good place for me.the boy manager treat us very very bad service! Talking was rude! And one more thing, my friend complain the table have some problem but he don't care about this.very dissapointed.and no next time!
Dumpling Chef inside Greensborough Plaza is absolutely terrible. I have tried the food here a few times and today is the last time. Dumplings stale, hard, chewy, dry as if they'd been sitting there for a long time. Sesame Prawns the same, dry, oily, revolting, steamed dumpling very chewy, dry, very small in size, spring rolls oily and had been sitting there for a while, you could tell. I took the beef & carrot dumplings back and the lady said she would re-heat them for me, I said no thank I would like fresh. I got a fresh batch but I'm sceptical that they were in fact fresh as they were really chewy and half of the serving was Pork & Chive not Beef. There is way better food to spend $30 on than this rubbish. One of the workers sneezed openly over the bain marie. Gross. Save your money and go next door to Groove Train.
Nice place for Family meal. Food was delicious Panfried pork dumplings was so yummy pastry was crispy. Sweet sour fish was the new dish tasted so good! I recommend this place will be back
Tongs used to pick up dumplings fell on the ground and she picked it up and placed it back on the counter to be used again! Ew.staff was rude (they always are). Dumplings - especially pork buns tasted very off and looked disgusting. I’m already feeling sick and it’s been under 24 hours. Thanks a lot dumpling chef! I was a loyal person to you but now I’m gonna go against you. Hope you close down.
Love dumplings but I didn’t enjoy these my wife was disappointed because she absolutely loves dumplings
I'm a dumpling lover, and we stuck to the 'classic' pork, in steamed and fried varieties.
The prices are approximately double what I'd pay in the CBD at a few dumpling shops I like for lunch, considering the small portions and $ amount. That was not good but we were having a movie night so why not.
As we waited for the food to come, it seemed to take a long time considering the number of people in there, such was only slightly annoying. I went to the table where the soy etc.was, and put a bit of that into the teensy tiny plastic cups. Spilled a bit despite my best efforts. Annoying.then my apparently clumsy wife also had a similar issue at the table. Not a fan of the disposable mini-bowls!
The dumplings were reasonable - I'm not a super picky dumpling eater - but it was annoying that out of only 6 tiny dumplings, the kind with the broth in them, 3 were broken and empty. I had to order two servings to get a reasonable portion, but didn't notice the same issue on the second set, so it might be a random thing. The other thing was that my wife's fried ones were much hotter than mine, which is normally the opposite case. So.not really hot for my steamers.
All in all, I wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend this dumpling shop as it seemed to be a poor effort on every front, with higher prices than one could expect to pay at a good dumpling shop downtown.
I hope the management have a long thought about what makes the simple dumpling such a favourite meal, and not depend on a stream of one time customers like us. There is SO much room for improvement here, please take that approach!
For a place who is meant to specialise in dumplings, we were extremely disappointed. Biting into the dumpling was like biting into leather. Also had the bbq pork bun, which was just rubbish.
I've gotten Diarrhea and horrible stomach aches the last two times I have have eaten here and I don't have particular dietary needs so this place is probably f**cked.
The worse chinese place ever food is dry and taste disgusting the staff are very rude and place has had several cockcroach problems. AVOID!
Number 5 on the menu is good if u want to blow the piss out of a head cold. Can't leave feedback for anything else
They've just moved into the centre near the lifts and the dumplings were great. Nice pork buns, could be sweeter. It was all a little dry but reasonably priced. Would eat here again.
Absolutely disgusting. Typical from Chinese owners. Putting fillers in their foods. Honey chicken was really 75% flour 25% chicken. Beware of this place. Can't believed I wasted money. Arrgh! Tip most Chinese restaurant use this practice.
Why you would go for dried out, greasy, lukewarm bainmarie food from this place when you can get better, freshly cooked food from the surrounding restaurants is beyond me. If it's dumplings you're craving, go somewhere else.
Don't fool yourself, go to the ground floor and get some dumpling from Coles would taste a lot better!
It took a long long time to get some food which will be ready within 5 mins from other similar place, and taste a lot better, our worst dining experience in Melbourne.
