Dromana 3 Drive-In reviews
32 Went for the NYE evening, which was $150 for two, not including food.
Pros: good choice of movies, decent sound and picture, fireworks display was amazing.
Cons: Shel’s diner is limited and not high quality food, poorly maintained toilet facilities, staff a little cold, no cutlery for food.
Suggest food trucks for next time. Quite a few other people brought their own picnic, they were smart and well-planned. And hopefully they can update/restock the toilets in future.
Had a good night, but a few things could be improved to keep this place competitive. Thanks for the evening.
I went to the Dromana drive-in tonight with my son who has a disability. He has a companion card The manager told me that a companion card is a privilege and stated we do not accept companion cards I was then locked in the gates were closed behind me. My registration number was taken. I was told the police will be called and that I am trespassing and I must leave now. I can’t believe this has happened. I can’t believe the way I’ve been treated and it’s not the first time this has happened. I will hire a solicitor and SUE the pants off you I will also contact the local member of Parliament to discuss why the companion card is Refused Shelli the manager is a rude person if they want to keep their doors open, then don’t treat customers so badly my son had been going there for months with his Carer and his companion card was accepted now they’re saying they don’t accept Make up your mind stop changing the rules and treating people with disabilities and their CARERS so badly shame on
Qued at the box office paid with my card no problem, parking was easy and clear view of screen 3, live music was great and hot chips, popcorn and snacks that could be purchased at the shop. Toilets were not too far away also. During the first movie it went to an interval for the count down and the fireworks which were Spectacular
Was a good experience in the beginning, lady at the gate was super friendly. Went to go get food 20 minutes before the movie, no more than 3 customers, we ordered 2 hot dogs, 25 minutes later the movie had already started, we asked where our food was, then the guy at the front asked what we ordered, was told another 10 minutes and when our food was ready there was only 1, so then the manager asked us to wait in our car and she will bring it out which was another 10 minutes, we were also told it will be free of charge yet we never got offered a refund and by the time the movie was finished the cafe was shut. No apology, no nothing from the manager, our night was ruined because we missed half the movie.
A wonderful night out with family. A must do when in Dromana, especially if the weather is good.
Fantastic experience for all ages. It's a family tradition for us to head down to Dromana each year to watch a movie and have some of Chel's Diner's delicious 50s food!
We had tickets for the deckchairs on Jan 6 but due to my young one recoveing from covid we requested they change us to the drive in section so we stay in our car and asked if they could refund the balance. Paul from Dromana drive-in was amazingly accomodating and gave us the balance in a diner voucher and helped us out when he did not have to considering they were non refundable.
HUGE THANK YOU TO PAUL AND HIS AMAZING TEAM. SUPPORT THE DRIVE-INS!
I love going to the drive in but my experience tonight was not the best. I waited over half an hour for my wedges (yes you get a buzzer to go back to your car, but it was a long wait for wedges and small dob of sour cream and sweet chilli sauce) then when leaving field two there was no clear exit, one car had to stop and reverse as they did not see the flags along the driveway, where you enter was closed off, eventually someone ran over and removed the flags so everyone could leave. If we had of needed to leave earlier there was no exit. I'm sure the owners will rectify this though. I will definately go back though.
Good experience to go to the drive in however make sure your car can be on with the lights off my MG wouldn’t let me leave the car on with no light
I felt like the food was a little sub standard and expensive but popcorn was great! Would definitely recommend going just grab some food on the way!
Great night not regular movie 50s diner is super relieved my teenage years took a friend that has never been to DIn
Best date night spot. The perfect little drive-in movie theatre. I love the cute cafe and snack options. Even if the movie isn't that great, it's such a fun experience. We will definitely be returning!
Absolutely disgusting customer service. Would never return. My family was going to go the day after I went I told them how badly we were treated and I will keep telling people how disgusting the service is.
By the way they respond to negative reviews and degrade the person personally just proves the little respect they have for their customers ️
Lucky to have such a fab venue in the hood. Always bring our interstate friends & family for a wonderful fun night out. Great staff:)
Just around the corner from me and has never disappointed in over 30 years. Come here to be reminded of how it used to be!
Treated poorly by staff, and demanded to leave. (Have a severe respiratory condition, making it unsafe for me to wear a mask) I have all the documents. I offered and tried to explain and show this to staff. Was embarrassed and shouted at. Other patrons supported me and tried to explain and help. This is illegal discrimination
I called and took 5 days to finally get in touch. When I tried to explain what happened, just to ensure no kne else is put in that situation, the owner got angry and told me to take it up with a lawyer, before hanging up on me.
I was more upset than ever.
Good alternative to the theatres, especially in these interesting COVID times! Facilities are old but are well maintained. Staff are friendly and happy to assist. Candy Bar/restaurant can be expensive, however it adds to the experience. Can be a little annoying watching a movie and contending with the lights/interactions from others cars but I guess it's part of attending the drive in!
A great covid safe alternative to the cinema, now if people could just learn how to turn their headlight off
First drive-in experience. Staff were friendly, instructions were clear for noobs like us, and picture quality was ok. Movie selection was pretty good, with all of the major recent releases. We had a good time!
Excellent a real step back in time with the modern convenience of being able to order food via your phone and have it delivered to your car. Really worth bringing the family at least once for the experience
Great experience - must do it once! Buy your ticket online, price is pretty good. Get your ticket scanned at the entrance booth and go to the field for your movie session (there are at 3 fields I think). SUV, van, truck etc need to park on the side or back of the field. Car lights must be off and no foot on the brakes, you have to tune in to an FM radio station for audio (or hire radio). Our car had to be turned off fully so no lights disturbing others but that means the audio turns off every 10mins which is the only annoying thing of this whole experience. Bring your own snacks/drinks and get comfy in your cars! Some people brought their chairs to sit in, there are toilets available around the back of the diner’s building.
