Tho it's call hotpot but it's not like real hotpot, you only pick the food you like, they will cook in the kitchen for you.
The price count by weight. So it's bit expensive compared to go to real hotpot/buffet.
But still I will recommend you if you want to try something different, especially you really want to eat something spicy.
It's the flavour you can't find from other Asian shop.

**Be aware if you allergy something must ask before you order.
Their soup cook with lot of different spices and ingredients.

As a ghetto I recommend you just buy a little to take away. And add other food you like at home. Just boil your food and put in your broth.

My go to Malatang location. Always busy, always a queue. Always feel like less food is presented than is put in the pot- especially meat.

The staff greeting us at the entrance and taking us in for our table was friendly and welcoming. Ordering is easy and fun as you can choose your own ingredients and mix them up. The food was delicious and enjoyable to eat.

The waitstaff is so rude. We went inside to get a table and the waitress come yelling at us to get outside and wait outside, like 3 times so rude

So sad to have this horrible hotpot on the new year’s day. I should’ve gone to David’s. I put more than 1kg in the pot, but the soup’s taste eventually ended up making me leave without finishinng it.

Opened 24/7 with more variety than the rest of the Dragon hotpot in the CBD. Also more spacious.

We come here regularly and it’s our favourite Malatang style hotpot. We got here at 8: 30pm. We had two couples waiting before us and we waited 10 minutes for a table of 5.
There’s a good variety of ingredients and heaps to choose from. Great value for money.

How does it work?
Charged by weight for the ingredients you pick. Be very careful to not get too much. Depending on what you picked, if your order hits over 700gm it’s likely to be poured into two large bowls.

Choosing what to get?
The meat slices become shrink considerably. I normally get about 20 pieces. With the next two cabinets I grab 1-3 pieces of what I like. I like a lot. The ingredients picked will be cooked.

How would you like it?
Once you’ve picked everything you can and want to eat, take it to the counter let them know how you’d like it cooked. They offer it to be served in a soup or you can have it dried, stir fried.

Cooking time:
Takes about 5-10 minutes for the food to come out.

How was the service? Standard.
You get guided to your table.
Pay at the counter and they bring the meal out to your table.

What I go for?
The soup signature and the pickled mustard is the popular soups among my friends. We have yet to try the dry. The Signature soup I choose was mild spicy and I sniffled all the way through my meal. The pickled mustard has a nice saltiness to the soup.

Covidsafe:
Checkin before being seated.
Hand sanitiser at the entrance and disposable gloves.
Self serve water jugs and disposable cups and disposable chopsticks.

McDonald's have better taste menu. Its doesn't concern of prices at all. Nothing so great whereby I can compare to McDonald's. Thinking where is your standard of quality comes from. Maybe I should recommend at qv try & compare. Maybe u guys have more vegetables choices. Yet I'm sorry to say. You lost the quality of taste.

It's your basic select your ingredients and they cook it for you scenario. With seven different bases beware that mild is still rather spicy if your not used to spice

There wasn’t a long wait. The staff members were efficiently managing social distancing. They have various options from Seafood to Vegetables. The food was wholesome and hearty for a cold wintery night. ️

Popular Sichuanese hotpot chain in Melbourne. Visited because of a Liven promotion - not sure if I will visit again:/ Had to wait +50mins so my expectation was pretty high. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed - a huge selection of ingredients from wagyu beef to cheese fish cakes but nothing special. Broth was pretty good:) (not oily at all) Mediocre experience overall but perfect place for a cold winter night.

This branch of dragon hot pot is as good as their other branches.

I’ve been visiting the restaurant many times at most of their branches, and I’ve been loving their consistent broth flavors. I also love the selection of items that they have, so many varieties of fresh seafood, veggies and fish balls.

I’d definitely be back for more as I’m quite a regular to the restaurant now

If you are in mood to try some DIY or customizable hotpot with fresh ingredients be it veggies or meat or seafood or carbs, then Dragin hot pot is the right place to be. Though I've not yet tried their food from other branches in the city, but I can guarantee you that Dragon Hotpot at QV Melbourne has got a wide range of ingredients for you to choose from. They sell their hotpot on weight i.e. Per 100gm. So be careful, and Don't overdo it with the ingredients, because then it will be a very costly affair. The ingredients looked pretty fresh to me, and thanjs to Dragon Hotpot, I got to try some unique ingredients like quail eggs, pork liver, cuddle fish, etc. After that, at the counter, they will ask for broth flavor. There are 5 variants to choose from, I picked the siuchan flavored broth and though it was very hot and spicy, but the taste was equally fantastic and all the ingredients were cooked to perfection. I'm in love with their serving bowls, so Tibetan, reminded me of my Himalayan trip. I would suggest you to try their dishes on a cold wintery day, trust me, it will make you feel really great. Otherwise, not so advisable on a hot day in Melbourne. Nevertheless, I'm going here again, to try their other ingredients as well. Point to not, it's Self service station

Disappointing! I chose the vegan option for my hotpot and found a piece of red meat inside. I feel sick after eating this.

Never thought that a hotpot shop at a food court could be this tasty. I keep coming back because the flavor combination is plenty and its fun to taste various fillings stir fried in Ma La Spice.

Absolutely delicious. Pick out your own ingredients and a base, and they cook it up for you. This is one of the only Dragon Hot Pots in the area that does a Vegan base. Highly recommended.

Pretty decent hotpot. I must say though, the they cook everything a little longer than my liking. I much prefer the cook it yourself hot pot. But if you’re wanting to experience hot pot without the need to DIY, then Dragon Hot Pot is a great option. The soup bases are very tasty too!

Tastes good. But I always order it without coriander, I’ve come across that the order wasn’t without coriander for so many times. And staff never apologised. In terms of the customer services, obviously the one on Russell was ahead of you guys.
Even it’s located in food court, staff still have to have a responsibility and basic customer service.
