Doctors of Northcote

By far the best care of any medical practice I have ever been to. I have quite complicated health problems and not only were these approached with professionalism and solutions but care and empathy. Cannot recommend highly enough.

After having a couple of Drs leave here to have children I made an appointment with Dr Alex Dimitrijevich as he was available. I now wouldn’t go to anyone else! He is kind, knowledgeable and patient! I would highly recommend him.

There are a lot of good things about this practice, for example, I have seen Holly Harman for years and she is a really great GP, I like her a lot. I have been thinking about leaving the practice because my partner went to see Dr Shiromi for a long consultation as a new patient and he felt very rejected and judged by her. He felt she was abrupt, rude and patronising. She saw him for 15 minutes and charged him for 30 and he felt very rushed. The appointment was a big financial and emotional effort and he felt she didn’t listen and didn’t care. Not good enough. He has since been to see Andrew Sampson, who he really loved and he is a better place as a result. The overall impression my partner conveyed was that Dr Shiromi can't understand men's health and mental health issues, as he felt she didn't believe him. The practice manager rang and spoke to me and was genuinely engaged and I spoke to my partner again about the whole situation. But to be honest every time he recounts the visit it seems worse, I think maybe just avoid Dr Shiromi for men's health / mental health issues or if you are from a working class background.

Doctors of Northcote is a great example of what a doctors surgery should be. A place where the doctors take the time to understand your health concerns and work with you to solve them. You never feel rushed to leave.

Used to be great - doctors who listened and offered numerous options for dealing with issues, helpful reception staff. At some point something shifted, and it seemed that the priority changed to squeezing money out of patients. I was hurried out of consultations, despite my queries not being fully addressed ("you need to make another appointment then" was the gruff response), and despite the fact that I was always stuck in the waiting room for 20-40 minutes whenever I had an appointment. Flat refusal to provide recurring prescriptions without forking out for an appointment (unlike other practices). Doctors are distracted, uninterested, impatient, and unsympathetic in consultations. Administrative staff rude and similarly unkind. Going to the doctor is stressful enough, without being treated like an inconvenience. I don't know what changed, but I will not be returning.

Edited to add: Regarding the response below, that you were "unable to locate me in your records", I'm calling you out. If you were unable to locate me, then how come after I posted this review I received a phone call out of the blue from someone saying they were the manager at the practice? Don't try to discredit my experience by implying that I wasn't actually a patient there, and instead address the fact that someone on your staff somehow stalked my details and called me?

Friendly and professional, can always be open and honest about my problems and feelings towards treatments. Never struggled to get an appointment here!

Dr Michael Ryan went above and beyond to help my lower limb problems and quickly came to a conclusion on what the problem was and got me on to the right specialists for a speedy recovery.

I am new to the area and was very impressed with the service at this busy efficient and friendly practice. Dr. Alex D.was caring as well as being an obviously excellent professional. The reception staff are welcoming and set the tone for a good experience.

Dr Shiromi and Dr Fabio are both brilliant here. The reception staff are always most helpful with making appointments and both of these Doctors in particular are thorough and professional.

I always have a positive experience here. Doctor Wong is attentive and caring. Staff are always helpful. And the chemist next door is very convenient. Great service.

Great doctors here. Not bulk billed, but the quality of service is worth the spend. Waiting times are not too long and there are lots of doctors. Love Dr Janice Lam!

Been going to Drs of Northcote for nearly 9 years, moved 2 hrs away from Melbourne and come to Northcote to see my doctor, Sybil Borthwick, best medical centre in I've ever been to. Helpful staff, love my doctor and they have saved my life a couple of times. Highly recommend Drs of Northcote

Every doctor I've seen at the clinic has been wonderful but a special mention needs to go to Dr. Sutton. She is an incredible doctor who is always caring and professional. She goes above and beyond every time I've seen her.

If you live close by, Doctors of Northcote is the clinic to go to. They have such a wealth of medical experience and are very nice people. Thoroughly recommend this clinic.

Great customer service from reception staff always and Dr Mandal is one the most exceptional doctors I have come across in many years. You are not rushed through like a number, instead he is thorough, caring and patiently listens. He has vast knowledge in a number of areas, I cannot recommend him enough. The cost per appointment is on the expensive side however we usually get more then half back from Medicare and I am more then happy to pay for first class care. I recommend this doctor surgery to all.

Staff on reception are extremely rude. The doctors are good, however are quite pricy compared with almost every other GP clinics in Melbourne. They have tried to stuff as many GPs/patients into this small building as possible. The management is concerned only with making $$$ - so much for a fair/ universal healthcare…. Save yourself some money and go a clinic that is value you driven, and cares about helping all members of the community

Professional and thorough doctors. For women looking for empathetic and knowledgeable female doctors, look no further. Conveniently has a pathology on site and connected to a pharmacy.

The doctors in this clinic are thorough and diligent. They do not prescribe willy nilly which is what I like so much although sometimes it would be nice to get a quick fix lol.
They may not always have the answers but they are willing to pursue the problem until they get to the bottom of it. I would recommend them and I have done so.

Recent visits have been prompt, with little waiting time. Dr Mandal explains options and treatments very clearly and thoroughly and has a very kind manner!

Great clean professional practice. Been twice now, doctors always run on time, doesn't feel rushed & never appears to be overbooked.
